Mace defeated Sidious in combat but failed to keep his guard up and thus was thrown out the windu via deception

George Lucas is talking about choreography in the clip nothing more. He is saying Mace disarming Sidious is how he always story borded it. You really need to pay attention to the context of what he's talking about. George never said Mace won fair and outright in universe, he said in our film that I directed this is how I always envisioned it.

what happened with mace n sidious was most likely this, sidious legitimately lost in the moment but rather than continue the duel he feigned complete defeat. especially once he felt anakins presence nearby. sidious could have gotten back up n continued the duel rather than "cower" into the corner like he did. I don't believe he threw the fight, I think he was beaten in the moment but could have made moves to continue the duel but chose not to.

Here’s the misconception people have:
People conflate dueling ability with power level. Windu was the better duelist. He won the duel fair and square. He’s simply better and more practiced with the lightsaber, but that doesn’t make him as powerful as sidious. If you notice throughout the fight, Palpatine opts to not really use the force. He could have spawned a barrage of force lightning. He could have telekinetically thrown stuff around the room, but he didn’t. Windu won the duel fair and square, but sidious was easily more powerful. Dueling ability doesn’t equal power. Another example: Windu was probably a better duelist than yoda. But we know who’s more powerful. Another example: savage is more powerful than maul, but maul is far and away the better duelist and fighter, which is why maul was always dominant. This goes to show that dueling ability doesn’t equal power.

while it's true that it was his vapad that was able to deflect the force lightening back on Sidious, it was his Shatter point that allowed Mace to grow stronger by the minute by seeing Sidious weakness and exploiting it. The longer he dueled Sidious the more dangerous Mace became. Btw, there is no debate about what happened. George Lucas settled it and said Mace won fair and square.

I always thought Mace vs Dooku is probably one of the most intriguing, closest duels I could possibly think of. Think Mace might just edge it but I'm not sure! Dooku is underrated and I've seen other content that suggests that he too was probably a superior duelist to Sidious.

I feel that Mace Windu was ready to catch the lightning; in the scene, he was just barely able to get his saber in place. Whereas for Yoda, it looked like he had just finished his landing when Sidious targeted his lightsaber with the lightning. It looked more as if Sidious was just trying to remove Yoda's saber before shocking the grandmaster. Dunno. I know a little bit of Star Wars lore, but not as much as the researcher on Studendous Wave.
Just from a physic standpoint, I think Mace was holding his saber directly in front of him so pushing back against something would be easier on his arms, while Yoda had his saber to the side of him when he finished his landing... Dunno if that would have made a difference as well.

Yoda not only caught Sidious's force lightning with his bare hands but he turned it back on Sidious and Lucas went to a great enough length to do a close up of both's expression as their close proximity combined with Yoda turning Sidious's lightning back on him resulted in an explosion. Yoda's visage was one of determination and dominance and Sidious's was one of surprise and fear.

I agree with his attempt to disarm Yoda. Sorry if I was nasty but I am really annoyed with the suggestion that only Mace could handle Sidious's lightning. Stupendeous Wave acted as if that were the case and it just rubbed me the wrong way. I don't think people reailze Yoda "lost" because of "bad circumstance," if there is such a thing.

Also, I think things happen in fights. Sometimes you can block the attack other times you can't. Windu was able to catch it with his saber that time, Yoda wasn't; however, I doubt that is a reflection of how good Vaapad is or whatever the reason was that Stupendous Wave said it was.
These are supposed to be top-tier combatants in the Star Wars Universe, trading blows is probably normal. So Yoda not catching the lightning with the saber that time probably doesn't say that he's bad or incapable. More than likely it just means his opponent is good too.

That's the real downside of the Jedi way sometimes, I think. Obi-wan having that much more experience in the clone wars seemed to be a Jedi with more cunning in combat.

Seeing as Mace Windu was the only practitioner of Vapaad, with his death it would be a lost art. It's cool how popular the form is, but it never lived to be passed on unfortunately.

I thought it was obvious, since Vaapad is a Light Side version of a Dark Side lightsaber form and that's why Mace could push the lightning away...like a North pole pushing away another north pole. Like magnetic poles repel one another. I figure it's something similar.

Seems like Sidious was scared of alot. The only jedi he was scared of, the only planet he was scared of, the only paper napkin he was scared of.
About Juyo, it was forbidden after the Ruusan Reformation. Before that, anyone was allowed to use it because the average sith was stronger than the average jedi. After the reformation, the Jedi Battlemaster would have to know every single form of lightsaber combat (Vapaad was an exception) and could teach them at his discretion.

I always thought the reflection was just due to how close they were, like how sparks fly when something electrical explodes. because the only other examples of a lightsaber reflecting force lightning was from a considerable distance.

If you look closely you can see the light saber attracting the force lightning.
What this could means is that the light saber is an extension of the wielders force ability. Absorbing or reflecting the energy isn't an easy task at all and requires concentration and understanding.
When Savage was Dooku's student he didn't know how to defend himself against force lightning, further adding to my theory/idea.
I mean just putting up your light saber would be pretty easy to guess.
That's obviously just my theory and I actually have no clue what Star Wars Canon says about this.

Actually it's a mix of 2 things: 1. How Mace Windu made his lightsaber with a balance of light and darksides of the force, 2. His lightsaber form Vaapad, and 3. A rare force ability within the darkside that deflects even Force Storm back at the user, played Kotor and a Jedi did this to me and wiped Bastilla, Z, and myself out of existence without any effort from them
In swtor trailer that was a Jedi master who was fighting two sith lords and redirected lightning back at another one I don’t know how to describe it we’re gonna say oh it’s a legend it doesn’t count I’m just pointing out there was another person all of it and do it the exact same way as mace

I don't think vaapad would be very effective for Darksiders like Dooku whose strategies were similar to that of ObiWan calm adaption and exploiting their enemies weakness. I think sidious was too dependant on anger and his raw strength in the Darkside.
If anakin remained a jedi I think mace would have been willing to teach vapaad to Luke. It would be the perfect form for him since Luke shows a willingness to use darkside powers when the need arises but has absolutely no interest in turning to the darkside and in fact fears it.
I am really tired of seeing videos claiming Sidious was afraid of anything. He was Not afraid of anything, he was a border line sociopath who does Not feel human emotion. Concern is perhaps a more fitting word.

While I don't doubt Sidious was a sociopath, I do believe he was capable of feeling fear and certainly surprise. Case in point, when Yoda push threw him across the room.

Because the novelization of the film is considered CANON, I have issues with this idea that Sidious had not actually won beforehand.
Remember that Anakin had decided to leave the Supreme Chancellor alive, deciding instead to turn him in to the council in order to learn the truth of the “so-called” Jedi plot to take over the Republic as described by Palpatine.
George Lucas gave the simple answer, Mace had bested him, but how and why? This effects the plot’s course.
Remember, if Darth Sidious were to die Anakin would loose the only possibility he had been offered to save Padmé.
Darth Sidious needed a gravely apparent threat to his existence, left alive so that he could get his pupil to take the next step and help their mentor, Palpatine, destroy the Jedi traitors. Master Windu was the best choice.

Dark lightning blasted away his universe.”
Master Windu thought that Sidious had lost due to Palpatine’s fear of the ledge and his giving up force augmented speed for augmented traction because of the cavernous drop from the window ledge.
In the novelization’s dialogue which expands on the film’s dialogue, master Windu told Sidious that he had lost the lightsaber battle for the same reason the Sith always lose, defeated by their own fear. This was directly before Palpatine unleashed Sith lightning. Palpatine then called Mace a fool, because he thought that the fear that he was feeling was coming from Sidious.
As Anakin approached, Master Windu had little time to realize what he had meant by that last comment, instead realizing that Anakin was The Shatterpoint of the Sith while deflecting the lightning.
Master Windu realized Palpatine trusted the Chosen One, what he hadn’t realized was that Palpatine knew Anakin’s Shatterpoint, Padmé Amidala.
Palpatine had previously ordered Count Dooku’s execution.
When Anakin and Obi-Wan had rescued the Supreme Chancellor, Mace Windu had recognized the increasing power of the dark side of the force surrounding the Chancellor and that Anakin had become the Shatterpoint of the Republic. He had wondered why the death of Count Dooku hadn’t decreased the power of the dark side, that was now stronger following Dooku’s death.
The audio recording of the Jedi assassination attempt, presented to the Galactic Senate, and the Sith Legend “The Tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise” leave me with a certainty that Sidious only realized what Darth Plagueis meant by being on the receiving end of the lightning when Mace Windu reverted to Vapaad deflecting the lightning back at him. Having already pondered whether he would be transformed into some monster Sidious accepted this as a consequence of his victory over the Jedi.

You said at the end that Windu was the only known Jedi to be able to reflect Force Lightning back into the face of the aggressor. Don't forget that Rey accomplished the same feat in the Emporer's auditorium at the end of episode 9...
Also, Ngani Zho. It’s legends I know but Satele Shan’s master captures and redirects force lightening back at its source in his duel against Darth Malgus and Darth Vindican. It happens quickly but it is clear when it happens. Watch the old “Return” trailer.

I think personally Green & Red light saber is weak against Force Lightning as Anakin (Episode 2) & Luke (Episode 6) or even Kylo Ren in (Episode 8) not even bothered using it to block the lightning even when warned by their master - well even Yoda knows this in Episode 3. However it seems that Blue Light saber is particularly good at that as shown by Obiwan (Episode 2) & Rey's blue saber (Episode 9).
Maximum power of telekinesis and tutaminis will make the force wielder a true rival to all jedi and sith

Sidious got stronger after revenge of the sith and he isn't constantly training during revenge of the sith. Also, Mace if referred to as being on Yoda's level of power and we see it in the duel. Palpatine also didn't like lightsabers, so Mace beating him with Vapaad was reasonably likely in my opinion.
That would mean then that rey used vapad on him as well in the last Jedi.....
Description of what happened in a duel can be just your opinion, the fact is, George Lucas said Sidious didn't throw that fight in any way, and what he says is the fact.
I think the Jedi Order's comservatism really left them at the mercy of the sith, who had no problem trying things and failing
Windu didn't recover from the force scream! Force scream is a dark side power which is works or is lethal to light side user. Windu isn't your regular light user. Windu like Anakin and Dooku naturally had a pull to the darkside and used darkside power throughout their Jedi lives. Meaning, the darkside ability of force scream wouldn't affect them like it does a regular Jedi or less power jedi as these 3.
Novelization said the force lightning was slowly bending Maces saber toward him. Sidious was overpowering his block.

He does, he achieved true vaapad against Sidious, hence the reason he was able to win the fight.

George Lucas himself shut down the theory outright that sidious threw the fight. George Lucas the creator of Star Wars said that theory is invalid and mace windu did in fact win against him legitimately and it was his mastery of vapaad that allowed him to do so it was this and mace just in general being one of the orders greatest combatants particularly in lightsaber combat matched by no one besides yoda the grandmaster himself. Mace does admit he is not yodas equal mace claims yoda is his superior but id say if this is true he is a close second but yes his vapaad allowed him to overcome sidious legitimately george lucas said both were fighting with everything they had and sidious intended to kill windu he just was unable to beat him in this fight sidious lost despite giving his all.
I do hope you find this message and know its in good faith/intentions i do follow the channel regularly and love the content and have alot of respect this is one of my favorite channels its just this really bugs me because i know your intelligent on star wars lore and don’t understand why/how you have overlooked george lucas and his statements on this matter. Again I promise george lucas himself stated the theory that sidious threw the fight is wrong he tried and lost outright to mace windu. Windu is not without fault though his decision making and lack of trust of skywalker led to his demise in addition to his misinterpretation of his shatterpoint ability he did not realize that anakin was the issue he sensed in the end and he did not see anakins betrayal coming. Also it could be argued that windu deciding to kill palpatine instead of arresting him was a mistake since that contributed to anakins betrayal seemingly.

Also Vapadd more REFLECTS then ricochets the Darkness back at the Sith/Darkside user. Since anything ricocheting anyone knows it's not guaranteed that way to rebound back at the user, shooter, or whatever.

Sidious lost period. He only played that Anakin card because he had no other choice. He may have been toying with Mace at first which I doubt but he still lost.

Lucas literally said Mace Windu slapped Palps into the next dimension. The ONLY reason Mace was flung out a Windu was because Anakin decided to be an asshole.
