    Mental hunger: bit.ly/2HGXcp1
    Food thoughts: bit.ly/2UDZDfE
    Calorie guidelines: bit.ly/2UIOhaj
When you come from a restrictive past your hunger cues are messed up. You can feel full and not hungry. But it doesn't mean you are now done with recovery and ready to follow intuitive eating.
You likely still experience many physical and mental starvation symptoms and do not even feel fully recovered.
So the "feeling full and not hungry" often just means that eating disorder and restriction have lowered your metabolism and digestion so everything you eat just moves slowwwly in your body so you get less hungry and feel full much quicker.
And when you continue to eat less than optimal you won't reach full recovery.
So what to do in this case? Find out in the video!

I feel constantly full, I know that I'm not hungry and don't need food. But I can't stop thinking about food, even through I don't want to I will binge (have to say that eating don't give me any pleasure), during the meals I always tell to myself 'you will eat after this meal anyway' my mind is not satisfied during the meal and this is hurting me so bad. I wish i could just be hungry at the meal's hours, and not being obsessed with food.

The first 1:48 seconds of this video literally enlightened me.
Now I think I know what's happening to me, but I would love it if you told me what you think, and if what I'm about to say makes sense to you.
So, I've been having eating disorders since I was 11. Now I'm 16. It all started when I decide to lose weight, I started losing 2, 4, 8 and then 10, 15, until I lost 22 pounds. I kept seeing food as the enemy. I was never really hungry but I didn't really notice it cause I was just focused on eating the minimum amount of food possible in front of my parents. I got over this sickness. Then I fell into the "not eating enough " period again. Then I Recovered, and then I fell again. This went on for quite a long time. During the last 8 months though I've been great. I had started eating again, with pleasure, sometimes also pretty hungry.I had also started gaining weight.Fact is about 3 months ago my appetite started decreasing until I completely lost both appetite and hunger. What I think is my metabolism really slowed down due to all this chaos I caused to my body by eating so little and then recovering and the again eating little again etc.
Therefore, when I started eating more again, my body was still not used to it. I am eating a good amount of food everyday now, Also if I don't feel like eating at all, I Force -feed myself everyday.I feel like I can't digest and metabolize the food I eat. I reckon I really messed my body up. What could I do?

I'm a bit conflicted about the recovery calorie amounts. Are those for weight restoration? I'm trying to recover from my ED, but I'm not underweight. I've been working towards recovery for about a month and haven't been feeling any physical or mental hunger, but I'm doing my best to eat enough anyway. I understand that I might gain some weight as I recover from my ED, but how much should I be aiming to eat (as a minimum) if I'm already at a healthy weight?

It all starts when you want to lose weight. When I wanted to lose weight, when I started I had 0 knowledge on how the body uses this energy when you walk, speak, blink, sleep, (just all the things you do basically). I remember it started with a ‘fasting’ method where I would finish eating at 20:00, then 19:30then 19:25, then to the point where I would stop at 17:30, 16:30 and it would be the max I would go.
I then later on got a calorie app where I would track my calories, the first time I put it down I had around 1,350 calories but the app told me I was “over” by 50 calories. Just I was so worried and confused (had also no idea abt the fact I used to walk like 10,000 steps etc) that I worked out and it took away around 80 calories. From there, like around 2 days later I went super down to 900-800 calories, there were 2 days or something in my life where it said I had 0 calories and such. It then made me not feel hungry throughout the majority part of the day.
I really wanted to lose like 5kg, but the max I would lose was around 3-4kg I believe.
In September of 2022 is where I really started to eat better all the way until late February. However, now everytime I even think of food I feel like throwing up (even though I never do).
I obviously understand very well the concept of food etc, I regret the times I restricted food because I had the wrong idea of everything and wasn’t educated enough. Now my main goals were to lose fat and gain more muscle, however me not eating enough due to the cause of nausea and feeling stomach aches, I refuse to work out just as much as I used to because I know it will come with more slower results. 🥲
By the way, I was also frightened because I thought I had all of these symptoms because I was eating too much but I tried to always put in my head that I was eating better (I genuinely think I was). I was and still am just like a littttle bit scared of eating “a lot” but I definitely have gotten better. I hate the fact that probably my metabolism slowed down and now is having hard digestion problems🥲. I also believe maybe about all the mental food I was thinking etc, I would end up eating a bit of sweety things. Now, looking back at that I feel disgusting and I feel like I can’t even eat a bit of chocolate or cookies again.

Potentially if you are fully recovered is it good idea to start eating more "clean" food and cout calories, i don't mean starving yourself i mean enough good calories if you have certain fitness and body shape goals?

    • @ChristinaDaidone
      @ChristinaDaidone Před 5 lety

Counting calories is something you have to find out yourself if that supports you in your journey of regaining a healthy relationship towards food. For some, counting calories is very triggering and it can risk relapses. However for others, it works fine and they don't get triggered.
As you have certain fitness goals you can try to find out what works for you, but you need to be careful with fitness goals since it can lead you into the next eating disorder or make you even relapse.
I was working in the fitness industry many years and in my eating disorder recovery I tried going back several times and work on my body goals and started to reintroduce counting calories and I have always failed. It triggered me too much and I relapsed.
For now (I am fully recovered for many years) I still love fitness and moving my body, but I stay away from calorie counting and from strict fitness routines and plans (which means I don't train after a plan and I don't set myself specific goals, I just go into the gym whenever I feel I like to and I train the body parts that I like to train). This works very fine for me since it is not too restrictive for me and I can truly enjoy moving my body and eating healthy and give my body what it needs. I would say "intuitive exercising" was definitely the key for me.
I hope that helps you a bit :) Best wishes

It's because your body (stomach) is physically not used to digest food any more. And even your body stops producing enough stomach acid which is a crucial factor in digesting food and absorbing vitamins and minerals.
In your case you will need to start slowly with adding food gradually. It will help your body to adapt to your higher food intake and even to produce stomach acid and gut bacteria again.

I eat well over 2500 a day but I have to plan it or I under eat
I eat calorie dense foods mostly, nuts and seeds, nut butters, dates, avocado, white rice, liquids, juice etc
And of course some veggies and tofu, soy milk, banana, berries, oats etc

2500 is not that much ! Keep going you’re doing GREAT ! ED recovery is full of mind traps, you will fall many times but surely you will learn to recognize what is ED. Stay POSITIVE. I remember my recovery (I’m on the verge of relapsing but I know what to do in order not to) very well. I stayed positive all the time. I took ED as if it was inferior to me (AND IT IS), and every time I would start to binge I’d say “Hi ED, I will not regret this binge and not restrict after so please go on :)” and after I was done I would apologize to my body tell him out and loud “It’s going to be okay. I’ll definitely free you from this. Just hang in there a little more I know you can”, congratulate myself and laugh and fuck ED “Is that all you got ? That actually tasted good. I f**cking swear I will never regret those horrors you make me do and break this vicious cycle. I still got so many things to do in life. First, I’ll deal with you. And then I’ll live to the fullest and save myself.”

2500 is only minimum, most people need more than minimums!! you are normal, but trust your hunger!

When I was in grade 10, about 15 years old, I weighed 115 lbs. I never really craved food. Matter of fact, I could go most of the day without breakfast and lunch. My parents were never around and I got up took care of myself all the time. Most of the time when my parents were around, they saw me eat a lot because that time during the day I would eat more portions and they would always make remarks as though I was fat or chubby or piggish because of the way I ate and the fat that I had more fat than muscle. Being 115 lbs with more fat than muscle is quite a difference. I really had more of a need to crave food when I lost close friends and loved ones. By grade 12, I weighed 155 lbs. First year in university, I lost 30 lbs after getting pneumonia and my grandmother died later on. I gained back up to 145 lbs by the end of second year. In my third year, when I turned 20 years old, I weighed 170 lbs after taking birth control to help with terrible menstrual pains as recommended by my gynaecologist. I feel as though I don’t want to eat as much but, my belly grumbles as I am accustomed to eating a certain amount of food in weight everyday. People say I look fat and that I gained weight. I feel pretty bad because I try so hard with my weight and I get put down like this. It is really hard to manage and I don’t want to do it on my own. But, I have no choice because I have no support system.
I decided to join a gym and see if I can loss some of the weight to get to 125 lbs
