They did so much better with Celeste and her family than with Jay. I guess partially cause the game is so binary it's hard to do a nonbinary Sim well

The rep of two separate trans parents (Jay & Celeste) is amazing for sure
I also did the same thing as you forgetting about Ash in the trailer. A new pack comes out and I've already erased HSY from my memory lol
Dunno what happened with the settings, but Aurelio is supposed to be ace. There is a dialogue by him in the game saying he does not feels much romantic emotions. It pops up when you perform the 'San Sequoia' secret interaction with him.
The Robles-Ruano having a rocky relationship might have some merit in my game 5 minutes after meeting the family Doli ask to stay a few days at my house
I may or may not be divorcing them in all of my save files
While I'm super happy for more representation and diverse townies, I wish the execution was better. Aside from Celeste, they look -- haphazardly done. I hope they start working with simmers from the community for future townies, like how they do with builds now. So many talented people who will not only style sims better but also put more effort into accurately reflecting lore!

I really wish that to be classified as being romantically attracted to her spouse, Doli didn’t have to be specifically into men but that’s what happens when the game doesn’t formally acknowledge nonbinary genders 😔
Exaaactly, the whole orientation section needs an update (that they said they're working on) to be less binary, but in the meantime I wish they at least had Doli be bisexual
It is so cool that Jay and Jay got to meet in my livestream lol and I had the same thought
I would guess maybe they didn't have top surgery scars yet when making Jay because they make the packs so far ahead

The book I Am J had such a cultural impact on trans men choosing Jay as a name that I really thought it was a hint to them being a man for sure
Also the coincidence of the first trans guy by EA having your name would feel hilarious 😂
I love that they added more trans people in the game but kind of wish they added a non stereotypical trans person in the game too. I think they did it well with celeste and jay but what if they did a trans girl/guy but cant get others pregnant (because they had SRS or extended hormone therapy) but still in the description somewhat explains that they are still trans if that makes sense. Im trans and i feel like many trans people are in a similar boat where they cant get others pregnant and maybe did hormones long enough or transitioned young where they dont have many opposite sex characteristics (like ripped abs). I feel like they could of more easily did this in high school years and made some type of jules euphoria copy but hope they could do something like this in the future as i think this helps break down stereotypes. I hope this makes sense!
I agree! I'm the same way where making a (binary) trans sim for me is just putting their fertility option to "neither" and leaving everything else as a typical man or woman. However if EA did this then it would just read as a cis person with fertility issues, so to your point a bio is necessary. Personally I think it'd be hard for the EA team to write a trans bio without a similar problem of stereotypes or making them feel one-dimensional given the limited space in a bio that's supposed to cover a full family. Though I thought having top surgery scars on a man would be the easiest way to convey it without stereotype. I'm just not sure how they could do this for a woman. 🤔
2:56 the game automatically checks in green (sorry it’s my second language, don’t know how to explain better) the sex of their partner (it says “men” only because we don’t have an enby option yet, it should say enby instead)
So I don’t think that’s intentional, it’s just assigned by the game itself if you leave romantic exploration on
I honestly think that they just forgot (or were restricted by EA) to adjust their sexuality according to the sim (Aurelio has ace nails, but has the “default” sexual orientation)
I’m kind of glad they defaulted back to sims being in to any sim romantically so that you can customize yourself

Oh wow I did not notice that since I looked at their relationship before knowing they were siblings 😬 I really hope my save was just glitched

Are they step-siblings? Still weird but maybe EA hasn't programmed that out since they're not technically related.

Waiiiit, they may have messed up because it says Celeste can produce milk. So I’m not sure what’s going on there lol
Actually trans women can produce milk in real life too
I won't go into the details here but you can look up the biology behind it if you're interested
@@TycoCurious it's awesome one of the couples I watched talked about how both of them will breastfeed their baby because one of the mom's the one that wasn't pregnant got medicine to help produce milk. It's so cool

I think it would have made more sense if doli was just into men then jay was he/him pronouns but still transgender
I was heavily under the assumption that Sims could have a preference for both masculine & feminine clothing with regards to their gender settings. I guess I was wrong though 🤷🏾♂️ cause even if Aurelio reads as a cis guy it would have been cool to see a sim that canonically is comfortable with both styles of clothing
I was excited about Jay too, and then I got so confused. The Jay character and the relationship made no sense! Haha, it almost looks like the Sims team could have needed some professional consulting here.

Bernice is not Jay's sister, it's a random sim
Unfortunately yes, Bernice is their sister and they do have a negative romance bar together when you start playing as them 😐

That children don't have pronouns I think it's for the player to decide as they grow up in my opinion.
the way the story was created for Celeste, it seems like Celeste and Christopher were together before she started her transition. Which would make Christopher pansexual... but in his sexual orientation, he's only romantically interested in women... hmmm
idk because i think Bernice says that Xochitl Luna used to date Christopher so i’m not too sure

If they can both get others pregnant then how do they have kids?
The newest base game update added a feature called "Science Babies" so they could have done that for the kids to have the genes from both, but the bio says it was adoption
