Which one is better?
All
Are you seriously asking this question?
Just a note about Flashlights. Dynamic Shadows were added to Half-Life 2 as part of the Orange Box update in 2007. If you were to shine your flashlight on those crates in Half-Life 2 at the time Quake 4 came out, you wouldn't have seen those dynamic shadows cast.
Quake lighting, shadows, and geometry.
I love quake❤❤❤❤❤❤
Half life 2 win 👍🏼
Gaming peaked at half life 2. And crysis. And bf2. Its been downhill since then..
For example anyones phone could run half life 2. Far higher specs than my pc when i played it. But things are so badly calibrated now 4gb vram feels like 128kb
good enough for playing emulators, and thats all i care for in mobile gaming.
Bf2? Boyfriend 2?
Quake 4 gameplay win, half life 2 technology game engine win
what a pointless comparison for two totally different games released 20 years ago
A lot of no maenmce not a. Ooo concept
Well Valve cares about details and physics, so surely Half Life 2 wins
Quake winning!
Half Lıfe 2 winning
Half life 2 better
Q4 was and still better.
That's you opinion. I couldn't disagree more. I think HL2 is one of the best games ever made. And that's my opinion.
Here are my receipts:
Better Story
Better music
Better Physics
Better Lore
Better Map design
More memorable characters
Paved the way and inspired so many games and mods afterwards
Better engine
Won countless awards
@@festival3051, opinion wars it is then.
Story in HL2 is mostly about going from point A to point B with barely anything interesting happening in-between.
Music is scarce compared to more memorable scores from Quake 4.
Physics is average in both games.
Lore of HL2 retconned stuff from HL1. Not a good sign. Q4 was a better sequel for Q2 in this regard.
Map design is very subjective. There is too much sterility to HL2 maps compared to technological horror of Q4 maps.
The only game it inspired that I know was Phantom Fury and it was mediocre at best. Mods are related to engine, not HL2 itself. Paved the way to what exactly? You must think of Halo 2, not HL2.
For better engine it sure can't run HL1 very good.
Don't care about awards.
Now what Q4 have over HL2? I have better story, better weapon selection, upgradeable weapons, better enemy design, better enemy variety, better NPCs, NPCs that talk like human beings, less gimmicky gameplay and more and more. I'm used to like HL2 in the past. I replayed it recently and hated everything about it besides checkpoint system.
@Deimos_Fresh I mean, I've always said just because an opinion is popular doesn't mean said thing is better, but I've honestly never seen anyone rate Quake 4 over HL2 haha. I mean, it's hard to rate quake 4 over most things. Quake 2 is leaps and bounds better than 4 in story, music and level design. Quake 4 loses its identity that that made Quake 1band 2 decent. Even DOOM 3 is more enjoyable and had more memorable moments. Phantom Fury was inspired by Duke Nukem and Dusk by the way, a classic build engine game.
@@festival3051, I'm exception to the rule. I said I liked HL2, but I was disappointed by it even back in 2004 as I was used to like HL1 much more. For Quake 4 I simply liked it the moment I started playing it. I especially liked it over Quake 2 as after playing Quake 1 I disliked Quake 2. And the fact that Q4 was build on iD Tech 4 engine like Doom 3 was big plus for me as well.
Phantom Fury was inspired by Half-Life 2. Ion Fury was inspired and build on Duke Nukem's improved Build Engine. Or not? Dusk was inspired by Quake 1 with soap physics added in.
@@Deimos_Fresh yap yap yap
Definitely HL2
