- Today I show you what's growing in my garden. Tomatoes, cucumbers, herbs, potatoes, etc. I also show you how to make BANANA FERTILIZER! What? Is this real? Does it work? I'm going to test out this version of compost tea!

Hi! My name is Kim. This year my family has decided to throw out all the conventional ways of easy cooking and convenience foods. We are moving towards a new way of life..more holistic, with whole foods, all organic, and home grown garden produce. Better food, better health, better life! I know it is going to be more planning and hard work...but what we eat is the most important thing that we do all day. Food is medicine or it is poison. I want to serve medicine to my family. Join us as we embark on this new journey. It will be full of progress and mistakes, as we try new things such as tinctures, salves, fermentations, canning, homesteading, gardening, and so much more. ❤️
I add coffee grounds, loose teas, banana peels, and citrus rinds to water. I let mine go for a while then pour in my beds. It is gross but it does work.
Really? I will have to try this. This is the stuff everyone needs to learn...thanks for sharing!!
lol, love that you channeled your husband with "ah-maze-ing!".
HAHAH! ❤️
You NEED to make kale chips! There are so many toppings you can put on them. When I make them, we finish them off that night. So good! Try it.
I agree. I used to make them taste like cheetos and 100% raw. When my daughter was 2 she used to sneak them out of the dehydrator. I had no idea it was her until I caught her in the middle of the night one night. She even got out of her crib and got a chair and helped her self...even put back the chair. I was accusing my husband. 😂
Oh my goodness I agree with the kale chips get you some spray avocado oil and spray them sprinkle a little sea salt on them bake them in the oven so they become like chips… sooooo good!!! But be careful eating Kayle if you eat too much it can throw your hormones off whack
That is hilarious! I can just visualize her sneaking to get her snack 🤣
That is a great idea! A friend of mine made them one time with ranch seasoning and they were amazing! Thanks 😁
This was a suprize because its so great we just throw the peels away. God bless you and family
Hahah! Am I growing weeds? Love it. I wonder sometimes that too.
Keepin it real! 🤣
Being so far south try your brassicas again at the coldest part of the year...should help with taste and bolting...from what I've read....the heat makes them bitter!
You are doing great! Thank you for all your sharing!
Thank you!
enjoyed your garden thankyou
It's good. This video is so useful
I made the banana teas last year, but I put 1 litre of the tea and 4 litres of water in a watering can, I think you are supposed to dilute it, my tomatoes loved it though!
Good to know! Thanks:)
My walla walla and yellow onions stalled out also. I chucked them and replaced with cherry tomato plants. I do ok with green onions, but have never succeeded with bulbous onions either, sadly. Absolutely love onions!
I like eating flowers too. Added two salad hibiscus plants this year. Both beautiful, and taste just like their name. Also have porterweed, which I think are super cool looking, and you can eat the little purple flowers also. I try to have carrots going year round as my Malinois eats a ton of carrots. Chuckle. The berries….ugh. Birds rarely let me even try them. Have had goji, miracle, black, etc berries….and the birds snatch them immediately. Added 6 mango trees over the last few years. I’m going to need more land soon. Haha
Sounds like you live in paradise! My Malagator is not allowed near my garden! He would destroy it all 🤣
pick carrot's after the winter in spring will be more sweeter
Thanks!
Hi Kim. Any update on the banana peel tea, did you work for your pepper and tomato plants?
😂 the burial!! I wouldn't be able to cut her up either lol
🤣 I really did feel so bad!
blueberries need acid soil like 2 or 3 ph add sulpher
bananas are best when the skins are all black more sweet!
lol, now what was the story I was starting with? haha. I love watching you. Have you tested your soil to check pH, nitrogen and phosphorus levels? I am going to try that banana fertilizer on my potatoes, they love potassium.
Lol! Thanks for watching! I haven't checked my pH..but that is on my list. Oh, the story was about using square foot planting in some of my beds :)
plant cabbage late fall they will grow tru frost
Thanks! I planted these in Nov. but I need more fertilizer I guess.
I've never had luck with carrots, the green bit always shot up huge and fluffy, but then the carrot was a tiny little stinker. Have had broccoli under a late snow and it popped up brilliantly.
I haven't had luck with broccoli :). It was looking glorious this year and then it bolted!
What is your way for irragating your garden bed ? Are you mulching at all? Thank you!
I'm am currently the daily irrigation. But we are going to hook up our three tripod sprinklers soon. Ideally, we would have the drip tubing already installed, but that hasn't happened as of yet. I did add mulch (composted wood chips) to my perennial beds (berries/herbs) but not to my seasonal ones.
Not sure who that other guy is, mmm, that other channel, her hubby, that person, says, not dandruff, lol, ( I am subbed to her hubby also, but I assume he's editing these and threw in the dandruff bit in there, lol) Sorry mate, but she's a silver fox too, lol. All joking aside, glad I subbed to both of ur channels, very good and funny video's, enjoy them a LOT!
Glad you like them...I edit my own vids, too:) The Dandruff was alllll me 😜 Thanks for the sub!
@@homewithkim Ooh cool, it's sort of fun to edit ur own stuff, at least it was for me, but I lost interest in doing vids, now just like to watch educational and fun stuff. BTW, I thought he was suggesting you had silver hair, my bad, lol.
