    I have the same model of Alienware M17 and loved the video. Very well done. I learned a lot from this video and plan to upgrade my M17 with additional SSD internal memory. Thank you very much for the video sharing. Good job.

    THANK YOU. I need to get in there to clean the fans and replace the thermal paste and also check the battery isn’t bulging because my trackpad is popped up on one side. Also just wanna clean it up in general. The problem is I am not super familiar with all the parts of the laptop and I wanted someone who would point things out and describe what they were doing. I know the importance of the parts and how to handle them but I cannot tell all of them on sight yet. Lol. And I swear anyone else who had a laptop like mine was speeding through it without explaining anything, not talking or pointing things out at all and just blasting music, or they made me nervous doing stuff like throwing screws everywhere and pulling stuff out on carpet. 😂 This is the first one that makes me 100% confident going into it. Thank you!

    Can the 60hz panel version of this laptop be upgraded to one of the other 2 panels? I just got the 60hz version with the 8750h, RTX 2070 Max-q. I want to buy the 120hz 1440 screen but i'm thinking the 60hz version has the 30 pin hookup and the other two are 40 pin. My luck probably can't upgrade it.

      Hi
      Also looking for this answer. I quess the first question is to know whether the mobo is a 30 pin or 40?. @sellbroke, can you remember at all if the connector is 30 pins, what about the screen, what about the board?
      TIA

    Didn't need the full break down, just where the SSD was. But spot on detailing for every part just in case I did need to go deeper.
    SSD connection piece to the mother board was loose. When you said to hold the mother board because it can take some effort, I braced mine and with almost no effort it popped off. just plugged that puppy back in PROPERLY, and was back in running order.
    The only troubles I've had with Dells has been Hard connection. Could you imagine getting a tower, booting it for the first time, and it tell you there is no hard drive? And now this, lol

      Dd your alienware stop recognizing the hd? That's the problem I am currently having and found this video to help me distinguish which connection I am checking, not to familiar with the innards of laptops.

      Upgrade to a SSD, my hardrive that came with it went to shit with all the bloatware they had on it. Runs like an absolute beast with an SSD though

    Can the computer work without the internal battery, just using the external power source?
    The reason I'm asking is because my internal battery is swollen and the new battery I bought will arrive in a month, and for safety reasons I thought it would be a good choice to remove the Swollen battery until the new one arrives.
    Do you or anyone else have any recommendations?
    Cheers! :-)

    is it possible to only remove the cpu fan and not the entire assembly?

    • @Sellbrokedotcom
      @Sellbrokedotcom  Před 3 lety

      No, you have to remove the assembly before you can get underneath to the smaller fan screws, THEN you can remove individual fans.

      @Sellbrokedotcom  Před 3 lety

      Your best bet is to find your service tag number on the bottom case and enter it on the Dell support website. Then click the link for product specs, it shows the P/N for each part.
