Diagnosing and repairing the backup camera on a 2013 Ford F150

- My backup camera died on my 2013 Ford F150. This video follows my process to debug and replace the camera. I ended up spending around $380 on parts. Here were the parts that I ordered:

My Forscan isn't showing me an option to recalibrate the camera. It didn't occur to me yet to clear the code but once I've done that, should I see that option?

I've seen multiple videos on this problem with more than one solution. Either it's a grounding/wiring problem or a new camera is needed. Did you check your wiring connections before ordering a camera?
Grounding issues with the Fords can get crazy. Camera went out and now advancetrac. I need to go check all my grounds

Sure- I did shop around but ended up ordering all of the parts from Amazon. They had decent prices but with free shipping it ended up being more cost effective to order there. I also got the 2-day shipping with Amazon Prime so I got the parts quicker, although doesn't look like all of them are Prime eligible at the moment.

Kind of a dumb question to ask now, over a year and a half after you've uploaded this but did you try connecting the old camera again? (after testing the new camera)
I do recall trying that.
To save $$ reinstall the emblem using SUGRU. Just put a wad at any contact point and press in.
So was the manual pics you had also in the software with forscan?
I believe if you have led lighting hooked up to your battery it could effect your back up camera. Camera stopped working after I put them on and just removed them after 8 months and camera works fine.

great video. I replace the camera on my Ford Edge, but it shows everything upside down. Will try calibration later to see if I can fix it.
Interesting. Let me know if the calibration helps with that. Most of the time the calibration helps with things like the guide lines not showing up.

Gerrr, doing the same here. 7 yr old w/78k mil, the camera should last longer like 10yrs.

Wait you seriously have to break the emblem
I bought this obd2 scan thing and didnt know it works with forscan.
Be careful my camera was upside down but perfect image, do not change the camera, do the same diagnostic and what I found was a module failure in my computer, a $800 dealer fix and luckily, they covered it under warranty. Code shown was the body module..
Crap, hope that's not the problem with our 2013 Ford Edge. Camera sometimes upside down, sometimes blank with error message.
Don't buy the cover as you can use the old one. Ford tries to rip you off and get you to buy a new one. It still has prongs to align it on the truck and the old prongs where it was holding. Use a glue gun and put glue in all the 4 prongs and it holds just fine. Mine has been on a year and has had no problems. Anybody who has used a glue gun knows it will hold just fine and the emblem is just a emblem that has no pressure for pulling it off.

Glue gun glue softens in heat. Might not be a good permanent fix, I like the silicone caulk suggestion below There are silicone caulk glues too.
Mine sometimes don't work and trows that same message in screen but i just open tailgate and move cables and it works back again its also a 13 eco boost

I have a 2013 Ford Flex 98000 miles.I had 2 major repairs cost me $6000 ,didn’t pay off my loan yet and now the camera not working , so disappointed in Ford.

Save yourself time and money before you replace your camera: on your touch screen, go to camera settings and turn off all optional settings. Now try using the camera again. This simple reset of the settings worked for me.

Dude that does not break the emblem the emblem breaks down in two parts the Ford symbol is a cap you press and twist it and it comes off
