Thank you, my man! Your video made reprogramming a new backup camera a breeze. Saved me about $800 mat the dealer, too.
You are a fine American!
I have a 2017 F-150. I lost the lines followed by the camera going out. I replaced the camera and cleaned and used dielectric grease on the fittings. I then ran the same procedure in this video and the lines reappeared. FYI. Now I can cancel my appt with the service dept. at my dealership and likely save hundreds of dollars. Thanks for the tip.
Thank you very much for making this video. Bought and installed a new camera, downloaded and installed Forscan, followed your video instructions and it worked first time. Thanks a bunch.
Excellent! Glad to hear it!
Tony Oddo hey! How were you able to install a reverse camera?? I have sync with backup sensors but no backup camera
Alejandro Castillo I replaced a old faulty camera. This was not a new install on a vehicle that didn’t have one.
Tony - where did you get your camera/cables?
@@charlesframe8119 I bought the camera from a Ford dealership. This was a replacement for the original that failed.
Thanks 0701hawk. Got my cable the other day. Just need to find time to run re calibration. Great video.
Cool. Let me know how it turns out.
Thank you, this resolved the issue.
Awesome video thank you!
Thanks dude you saved me. Mochas gracias
I have the whites lines that are still not lining up. They're are in a turn position as if I'm turning my wheels and my wheels are straight. I've followed your steps correctly and my 2014 Explorer says service procedure completed successfully.
Same issue here , Did you get it fixed?
@@Boshplayz funny you asked, I "just" dropped it today to a mechanic to get it straightened out. He said it could be a software problem. So I'm waiting... 😩

Will this (recalibrating) help resolve a camera that is inverted and displaying left on the right side and right on the left side?
Hello, thank you for the awesome videos. I have a 2011 Explorer and I will be replacing my camera, and hoping to reconfigure it myself with the Forscan instructions. Only question I have is can I use my apple IPad Pro? Not a windows guy….thanks again for all the helpful information….
No
I would like to know how to open the gridline navigation.
Hi, I have an Explorer 2011. I installed my new camera and the camera works fine but the steering angle guidelines that sway left and right on the view screen do not respond correctly to the steering heel rotation. They're stuck on the extreme right. Would you mind helping?
Is there a specific brand to use for the usb OBD cable for Ford’s? I don’t want to buy the wrong kind
Hey thanks for all the content super helpful. I watched first video gave me the confidence to order and install myself. Did it today, camera image upside down. Really quick question, will forscan reconfiguration fix the image ? Forscan download free? Thanks so much hopefully I will hear back from you
It should fix your upside down issue. It is free download

@@0701hawk thanks so much man. Hope it works out for me. Called local dealer guy told me best he can do is $80.00 for the configuration. Might go that route. I will ask him to make sure the upside down image will be fixed before I drop it off. Once again its people like yourself that help the reg folks out. Stay blessed and healthy bro!
@@EJTONY9295 $80 isn't bad for reconfig. Anything under $100 is reasonable. Main thing you are trying to avoid is the $500 to $1000 quotes for the dealer to replace the camera. Ill take $100 overr $1000 mechanic bill any day. Glad I was able to help. Tske care.
I changed the screen in the car and the rear camers isnt working anymore it just doesn't change when i put the gear on R any ideas
Thank you for the amazing info. In my situation forscan finished and successful but there is no change in the backup camera i.e the parking lines do not move when the steering wheel is moved. Any suggestions?
Same situation w me. I used a $75 Amazon clone and ran Forscan/Cam Cal multiple times. No dice. Many folks say the clones are the main problem. Funny, the image is better than OEM. Guides are just wank.
I'm getting an error message LIN commiunication fault from the video camera. My OEM camera has been acting weird for a week showing a blue screen randomly or the csmera backwards sometimes. What should I do?
i have a 2013 escape and using forsca 2.3.54 and i do not see BdyCM rear camera calibration nor BdyCM Local Interconnect...
any suggestions? i just bought a used camera from an escape and it works minus the guidelines and i'm hoping i can get it to work.
Where did you buy the camera? I seen them on e-bay from $60 upwards to 400. I want to know how you determined which camera to buy. I have a 2011 Limited Explorer. Thanks for the videos.

May i ask what brand usb to obd2 cable did you use? I’m trying to reconfigure the rear view cámara! after I replaced it
The image was upside down! I just want to make sure I use the right one! Any advice? Thanks in advance! Great video by the way!
My camera seems to be flip (left-right) any idea ano guiding lines either will this fix the issue?
Camera recalibration should fix both of those issues
My 2011 Ford Explorer has the key in the ignition. Should I do anything different since yours is different?
Drew M he said it should be in the on position, just not started.
Will the IOS version of forscan work on my I phone. to do the same thing and reset my car computer system to show the guide lines on my 2012 ford explorer
Sorry for being late to the party but since 2017's version 2.13.15, using the forscan link you provide has V2.13.35 - I should still be able to accomplish the cal on a '14 F-150, right?
Go to Www.forscan.org and use the LATEST version. At the top under PRODUCTS.
If you have any issues with the software, post issues under the FORUM tab. Go to frum and search "back up cameras".
I have a 2011 Ford Explorer Limited with Sync 2 and I’ve already replaced the old camera with a new one which works great. I’ve followed your tutorial to the T but haven’t had any luck. When I click the wrench icon. I don’t have an option for Rear Camera Calibration. Would you have any idea why?

Did you ever get it fixed and how? I have a 2012 Ford edge sport and installed a new backup camera but the guidelines won't appear unless I go into settings and turn them off and on again, but when I restart the vehicle it goes back to no guidelines.
I did a camera replacement on a 2015 Edge with My Ford Touch and Sync 2 and the rear camera calibration option does not appear in Forscan. The camera works fine but the steering angle guidelines that sway left and right on the view screen do not respond correctly to the steering heel rotation. They start working and then they shift to one side in the extreme position. Seems there must be no communication between the camera's module and the steering angle module. Any ideas how to fix?

Anyone know if forscan can enable the doors to lock when the vehicle starts moving at around 5 mph. And how to do that program.

Which version of the software did you use? I'm wondering if there might be a particular revision that doesn't error out at 8%...
I have the issue at 8% as well... tells me to check DTCs

Mine worked perfectly the first time...it just didn't do anything to my camera. Everytime after that I got the same error at 8%.

When you downloaded ForScan to your computer, did you have to download any drivers to make it work with your OBD device?
Not that I recall. Its been a few years. Best I recall it was plug and play. Just had to sync Bluetooth OBD adapter with computer.
Why were you in the middle of the road filming/working on your car?
Where does the adapter plug into the car?
Will this work with a 2019 Ford explorer?
I ran this in for scan with the interconnect calibration now my back up cam does not come on at all when I put in reverse. Nothing changes on the sync screen at all. What can I do?

Hey @0701hawk great video. ive done this and put the camera lines back but they always disappear again. its almost as if they arent "saving" any idea why?

Not sure. Several other people had the same issue. Only thing I can recommend is using Forscan and see if you can get it to save with that app.

I have the same problem with my 2015 F350 King Ranch. Camera works but no parking assist lines. DTC code is BdyCM B115E:5-0A. But I don't see the option in FORSCAN to configure the Backup Camera. I have Version 2.3--is this command vehicle specific? Thanks--look forward to your response.
John Cannizzaro If you don't see an option for camera reconfigure as in the video, forward that information to Forscan so they can fix.
what version are you running? I just downloaded 2.3.14 and the "BdyCM Rear Camera Calibration" is not available.

Alejandro Alvarez several people have gotten this error code when trying to calibrate. Quick answer, unfortunately, take to dealer for calibration. Make sure to shop around. Long answer, forward your error to the people at Forscan so they can fix. Contact@forscan.org
Download version 2.3.15 and use the BdyCM Local Interconnect Network New Module Calibration. This video was taken with version 2.3.8. Let me know if that helps.
Tried 2.3.15, it doesn't like the aftermarket camera. Tried to push back to 2.3.8, it fails too. Guess I should have bought the $400 dollar OEM camera and not go the cheap E-Bay route. The camera works great, just cannot calibrate it.
El Fod Sorry it's not working for you. You can check junkyards or those You Pull Parts places in your area that might have a cheap OEM camera. You can also check dealers online. Look at small town dealers around you. A lot of times their prices are cheaper. Check different states with a cheaper cost of living than you. They can mail you the part pretty easily so you have the whole country to choose from. Don't just rely on the closest dealership.
I’m trying to figure out how to turn the back up camera on
Would it be better to just download and run with the 2.3.8 version since that seemed to work for the video? I have a 2012 Ford Explorer Limited and the guidelines on the rear camera will not show up.
You could try that although I don't know where you would find that version now. I have long since upgraded.
@@0701hawk Thank you. On the link you have in the Bio the latest version is "2.3.19". If you scroll down you could download all later versions. Would you suggest just using the most updated version?
@@bombboy226 Try the newest one first as it should be up to date. If you are having issues with it, roll back to the other one. Someone said they were having issues and Forscan sent them a link to a version that wasn't on website that could help. Email them directly if you are still having issues.
0701hawk okay. Thank you for your help and the video!
Thank you for the video walk through. I was able to easily swap a new camera following your steps, super easy. I d/l'd FORscan and ran a test and get a DTC on the BdyCM of B115E:08-48, B115E:55-0A and searching online I am getting nothing as to what these are tripping on. Any ideas? The camera now works every time and shows the color lines, but I was hoping to get the moving/projected lines working again with FORscan, but no luck since it errors out at about 8% with those DTC codes above.
Try using Forscan to clear all DTCs. Then reconfigure camera using steps in video and see if that works. If not, message me back and I will see what I can find out.
Thank you for your comment. It is good to know that these videos are actually helping people.
I tried clearing the codes and re-running and same errors show up. Odd for sure. I thought I had to reset the camera setting thinking perhaps it was thinking two cameras were there or something, but in order to do some of those options FORscan said I need an extended license. In the log as I am running the calibration, it says "test Aborted. Perform a self-test to identify any diagnostic trouble codes"
Would either of those make sense?
Be sure your park aid is enabled thru the dash menu. I see some other people are having your same problem but have not been able to find an answer. It seems that the DTC is saying your camera needs to be reconfigured. You can take it to the dealer and have them reconfigure if Forscan is not working for you. Be sure to shop around as prices from one dealer to the next DO change drastically. I would recommend forwarding your issue to Forscan so they can come up with a fix.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
I was playing around with Forscan today and it appears, like you said, you need the "extended license" to make certain changes. I don't have one but I am going to get one as there are some changes I want to make but can't without it. I tried looking at the "as built" code for the camera but it won't let me without the license. I can send you my "as built" camera info once I get it and you can try to match the lines up and see what needs to be changed.
Does anyone have a link to the OBD cable or bluetooth adapter you bought that worked well? I called my local dealership today and they told me it's actually an OBD2 cable. Thanks in advance.

OBD Link MX
Buy on EBay, Amazon or anywhere else you find a good price.
Brandi and I did everything in your video. We got through it and the rear assist lines did not show up on the screen. Tried doing it again, but got an error at 8% every time.
Suggestions?
Schuyler Smith I am not affiliated with Forscan. I have used their program for certain things on my vehicle and have been satisfied. Other people have commented and have had the same issue. PLEASE FORWARD THESE ISSUES TO FORSCAN SO THEY CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. Contact@forscan.org
If this is not working for you you have to take vehicle to dealer for reconfiguring, buy the FDS software which is what the dealer uses or play with Forscan until you find a way that it reconfigures. That is all I can advise. Sorry I can help you further. I really hate that people are having problems with this because the point of the video was to help everyone fix their vehicle WITHOUT paying the dealer.
0701hawk, thank you for that information and for your quick response.
Do you also have a link to a camera that is reasonably priced and also compatible with the Forscan calibration? Mine was advertised 'OEM' and not from China but it appears to not be compatible.
Any chance this would resolve the issue of an upside down image on my daughter's 2014 Edge backup cam?
Some people have said Forscan worked for them and others said it did not. I'm not sure if they have updated or improved the Forscan issue. It sounds like you need to reconfigure your camera either using Forscan or take to dealer. If you have a computer and an OBD cable this would be a cheaper option if it works. If not you didn't lose anything.
@@0701hawk Great, thank you sir.
BIG MAC Did this work for you?
I bought the OBDLINK MX+ as you said, but each time tried to connect I get the no adaptor found.I even got a 1 year extended service and had activation code input according to instruction. I had the ignition on but did not start engine. What am I missing? i have a 2013 Ford Explorer.
You've got to pair it to your phone thru Bluetooth first.
I got my laptop paired to OBDLINK MX+ and Rear camera calibration completed successfully, got red, yellow and green lines but the white lines does nothing after rotating wheels in reverse. My original camera that came with Ford did not have white lines. How can I configure it to either get white lines working or getting rid of it.
@@stanleyhenry3700 unfortunately if you didn't have them before I don't think you can add them. Those are part of the active park assist package. There are sensors in that package that guide and direct the lines. Glad you were able to reconfigure tho.
@@0701hawk I agree if I did not have them before there would be no wheel sensors to detect movement, however how do I get rid of the white lines is it possible at all? I also did not get back the black dotted lines. Does this mean I should have gotten an OEM replacement camera?
Like a few others the "Rear Camera Configuration" did not show up on the list after clicking the wrench. I do have the correct ELM cable with the HS & MS switch so I do get a list of modules but not the Rear Camera. Did anyone find a resolution to this issue? Did Forscan email anyone back with an answer? My new camera works great except no guide lines. Please let me know.
Download version 2.3.15 and use the BdyCM Local Interconnect Network New Module Calibration. This video was taken with version 2.3.8. Let me know if that helps.
I used Forscan version 2.3.16 beta for windows. The list did not have or show the BdyCM Local Interconnect Network New Module Calibration. It did have me use the switch to use both HS & MS in order to retrieve all of the modules it could. I still noticed my list seemed shorter than what I saw on your video and another video meaning not only did it not bring up the Rear Camera but must of also missed quite a few other modules. My Ford Explorer is a 2012. The new camera works great except no guidelines. I do appreciate you getting back to me but what should I do next?
@@jameslitteken3765 Email Forscan. If there is no New Module Calibration then I'm not sure. It could be your cable but you can pose this question on the Forscan forum and see if anyone else has this issue.
Thank you. I will email them and if I can get this resolved I will post to help others. Thanks again, your videos did help me.
"Note: although all versions of ELM327 are supported, it is recommended to use ELM327 version 1.3 or newer. Performance on some operations for older versions of ELM327 may suffer very noticeable." Well i replaced my camera and it works. But i have the white lines and faint color lines. I have a 2012 Explorer limited. I should not have the white lines. Just the color ones. I did the FORSCAN reset to calibrate the camera but the white lines are still there and the color ones are still light and faint (hard to see). I am kinda familure with FORSCAN. Any ideas why the calibration didn’t get rid of the white lines? Much help is appreciated…. Should i try buying another camera? The one i bought had some revives that the white lines are a problem… (not sure if they dont know about FORSCAN…. Thanks in advance.
The camera shouldn't be the problem so long as you have good picture. You may have to take it to a dealer and let them use their software to recalibrate your camera. If you do that just make sure to shop around and get the best price. Look at dealerships in neighboring towns. Send Forscan an email with pictures and video of your issue so they can resolve it. It may not help you but hopefully they can fix it and help someone else down the road.
Be sure that you shouldn't have the white lines first tho. I have the limited version and that comes with the straight colored guidelines and the white lines that move according to the steering wheel input. If you have the double side mirror then you wouldn't have the white lines. If you have the yellow dot in the mirror and the extra sensors for the BLIS system then you would have the white lines.
I have a 2017 Ford Explorer. The camera stopped working, and I replaced it with a new camera. It says that it is unavailable still when in reverse. I doubt theres a short. Dealer said it likely needs reprogrammed. if I buy the OBD2 interface kit to use with FORSCAN - do you think this will likely help?
