What really pissed me off about Redo was that it CLEARLY wants to just be a hentai, but without going so far over the line that it gets the same sort of publication restrictions as a hentai. So instead you get an extremely frustrating hentai that only ever implies the scenes you're usually there to see in a hentai.

He used the Philosopher's Stone, that he waited for a chance to get. He has an "absorptive" type of healing that lets him steal abilities, etc, which he'd been using for years.
But Scamboli says it makes no sense, so hurr durr it makes no sense.

*Edit:* Rationale for him staying for 6 more months is MC knew his party was after the philosopher's stone (deep in demon territory) and couldn't get it alone, so he used them.
There is a distinction from healing, the story calls it "absorption heal" and "corrupt heal," and the MC makes of point of saying "it's not just healing."
Of course his powers looked like an asspull at the start, it was a flashback to his OP past life. He starts over at level one and has to absorb powers for six months while getting creped just to be strong enough to escape.
*Edit 3:* The skills he steals have their normal names, like "Recovery, Holy Blade, Battle Sense, Alchemy, Blink, Tranquility." In the first fight, he says _heal_ when he heals himself and steals from that demon girl, not when he's blinking around etc.

I don't know if it's true, but I've heard that the healer and the princess keep going back in time and torturing each other over and over and over. Which is kind of a neat idea, where they just keep spiraling to worse and worse behavior based on what the other did in the previous timeline.

He said he was scared if he told me he’d get in trouble. But he eventually caved and told me a sanitized version of it. Then I came upon your video and I understand now. Japan’s a weird place.

this . very true when I read the manga last last year. I honestly think this was a good formula for a great manga.. /anime now. but the latter chapters are just pure awful garbage. what makes me think an anime is great is because of the unpredictability that it has. and Honestly if an anime that has bunch of s3x and such and is very predictable is just downright hentai.
He has soo many choices (by I mean the author) to re direct the protagonist to a path that would make the anime interesting and less edgy.
Then I realized.
The author just wants to enact her perverse nature in the anime. when the mc could literally become "Anything" he can get the class of anything. and experience. which is hilarious since HEALERS and HEROES existed WAAAY before in this anime. THERE IS NO WAY not in 1000% chance that former HEALER did not discover this ability by just LITERALLY HEALING. XD just downright stupidity specially that CHURCHES exist. The term Healer in this anime has lost it's meaning and the goal of the MC which is blind revenge is just sad.

Honestly my 2 biggest problem this anime are:
1. When people say he was "justified" to do what he did because he was abused and he hurts evil people: Being abused does not excuse abusive behaviour even if it is done to bad people. Fans of this show often say "that's like telling a bullied kid he can't fight back" but what the protagonist does is more like the bullied kid shooting up a school.
2. I don't like how the anime treated women's sexual assult. Like Protag-kun's whole sad backstory is that he was raped and tortured, but when he rapes women that's okay. Not to mention how "women getting raped for various reasons" is a pretty common trope in fiction, but the same it not true to men. Like there aren't any movies about a guy getting raped and his girlfriend taking revenge on the rapist.
Also, this is a personal thing, but I just can't relate to wanting to inflict the same pain you had to go through on others, even if they are not good people. Like I, personally, just wouldn't want people to suffer the way I did even if I hate them.
I do agree that the anime doesn’t handle women sexual assault well whatsoever. It’s one of the many reasons that makes the “protagonist” so unlikeable very early.
dude the entire show is garbage but the sexual assault and essentially mind control shit is fucking horrific. there's only one show I've ever seen that's even close to as bad as this, and while it's close, I think redo takes the cake. It's such a horrific show with the most evil fucking protag I've ever seen. I honestly don't even know why I finished it. Maybe because I had to see how awful it was? I don't remember. I don't know if I've ever been as angry as I was watching that show when watching any other show. I could rant for fucking hours about how fucked up and disgusting it is.
The initial plot had so much fucking potential. Going back to fix all your mistakes, live a better life, etc. But instead of doing that, they sexually assaulted people, did mind control bs or whatever the hell it was, etc etc. It's just horrifically fucked up. I can't even put the way I feel about this show into words because of how disgusted it makes me.

Those scenes are shown because the writer wants you to suffer with the characters to better relate to them and to be immersed in the world, rather than just hearing about it. For example it doesn't feel as personal to hear about the village that was just raided by orcs a week ago, than it is to see it happening to a character you know and whose journey you are invested in.

One of my favorite interactions around this show was an argument I was having before I even knew what this show is. I was talking with one of those "Quality in art is subjective" types when he brought up how a lot of people hated this show, but he personally loved it for "showing how horrific acts like torture and rhymes with crepe can be committed heroically".

I've for some darn reason (probably too much time when I was a neet) read about 7 volumes of novel.
Honestly, the *ape part aside, the series is simply dumb in most aspects.
1) There are too many one-dimensionally evil people.
2) Healing magic can do too much (I hate when stories do that, defeats the whole purpose of using their talents creatively to solve seemingly unrelated problems).
3) Even that "harem" MC has is boring to such a degree that I completely forgot one of the main girls in the series, despite there being maybe 4 of them total (yet I can name basically all girls from girl-bloated series like High School DXD, Survival in Another World with My Mistress (except individual Harpy names) and even In Another World With My Smartphone).
4) MC himself is dumb AF (even Superman's disguise makes more sense tbh).
5) At some point MC notices he starts to mellow out a bit but all he has to do is to just decide that he needs to be edgy again and he's edgy again.
Finally, at some point you might start to actually feel sorry for MC's girl companions, since most of them get fleshed out a lot more than MC and it's completely fine to grow to like them and care for them as characters, yet they are stuck with a protagonist somehow worse than those MCs from series like anime adaptation of Isekai Smartphone (LN version MC is actually likeable and has individuality).

It’s a show about bad people doing terrible things until they fall victim to another bad person, one that they created.
Freya immediately writes Keyaru off after he uses his healing once on someone who’s been injured hundreds of times and currently has a very serious injury.
Instead of trying to talk to him, to convince him to push through the pain and help she decides to drug and abuse him.
She’s arguably the most “good” person Keyaru exacts revenge on but she’s still a horrible person.
Personally, I’m interested in seeing what Keyaru will do once he’s accomplished his goals, he says that he wants to live a happy life but I strongly doubt that.
There’s some genuinely interesting things in the series, like how Keyaru’s Healing is used.
No matter what, whenever I see Redo discourse there are ALWAYS people on here that tick me off. I _wanna_ talk about the stupid plot, the mysoginy, how comically the story tries to frame the protag as some sort of anti hero when he's clearly just a horny self interested serial r*pist, but then there's guys that will _justify_ the writing decisions and not see it for the blatant, flimsy excuse to watch a r*pe fantasy that it is...... I remember reading redo manga and was very disappointed and dropped it instantly, my mind didnt change when I watched this video, but I found "FFF class trashero" with the main mc being agonized by other characters and him choosing the immoral antihero path done right. Definitely recommend it if you read manhwa/webtoons!

A bit late, admittedly; but the reason Keyaru waited six months before breaking out is because he realized that the King was WAY stronger than he was and any escape attempt was doomed to failure unless he timed it when the King was out of town.

One of Princess Flare's abilities as the Hero of Magic is to sense both the awakening of new heroes, and to always have a general idea of where the other heroes are relative herself. He literally couldn't hide from the kingdom.

I'm gonna be honest, looking solely at the healing magic system, it's kinda cool to think that there could be a darker side to healing magic, something like causing cells to rapidly die through reversing the healing process or messing with nerve endings. Even memory erasure should be possible, but it also might just make someone braindead instead. I guess that would all fall under necromancy, though, as decay is usually grouped with that.
maybe in another story based on a healer, the healing magic could by some twist be the magic closest to their orgin(Reality warping)

JoJos part 5 actually dealed with topics like that like having Giorno rapidly heal objects to have them live through the extent of their life, rapidly speeding up someone's sense of time so everything seems slower and putting someone in a semi state of immorality by rapidly bringing them back to life everytime they die just for them to die again
Frankly the guy making this video doesn't quite catch all the nuances of Keyaru's healing power. When Keyaru heals someone he is forced to relive all their experiences (which is why he kept trying to runaway in the first place); as such it's more realistic that he can copy someone's technique than say someone with the Sharingan casually glancing at someone using a technique. As for changing his and other people's appearance it is well within his power as a healer since all he's doing is breaking the bones down and forcing them to mend in a different pattern. And he's not the first 'healer' to use his power like this; Doctor from Yu Yu Hakusho also used his healing abilities to change his appearance after escaping the police (he also used his powers to create a disease could only be cured through knocking him unconscious or killing him... killing him was actually easier than knocking him unconscious due to the other ways he could use his abilities).
The biggest part is the difference of expectation from the author and the viewers. The series was never designed to be innovative or deep or unique, it has always meant to be a fantasy about a single guy inflicting all sorts of cruel actions on people. There is no allegory, there is no Aesop, it is just meant to show people excessive and brutal vengeance.

There's nothing wrong with writing an immoral character, but what is wrong is failing to make it clear that it is not good and/or bending the world around the character to make it look like their horrifying actions are actually justified. The more I think about it the more I realise that comparing this show to Death Note is just kinda terrible as an analysis because Death Note, unlike this show, _was_ going for a philosophical angle and thinking about its implications where as this show just wasn't, that's kinda the whole reason why Death Note works with a Villainous protagonist and this one doesn't unless you're specifically into that sort of thing.
All that being said I kinda agree with the sentiment that the show shouldn't be cancelled but I don't use Twitter enough to even know if that's a concern, but with what he talked about in the video it doesn't seem to be at all so this whole point is kinda just unnecessary but to each their own I guess.
As a closing statement all I can say is that if it's on TV then children can access it, and if children can reach it then you should probably be more careful of what you glorify

Scamboli also questioned why he went into the dungeon again, but that’s because he needed to absorb as much exp as possible before escaping, and because he gave Flare one more chance to prove that she’s not a bad person in the new tineline.

Well, I only hope the ending will be good because Keyaru does so many irredeemable and awful things, there are only two options for him that feel satisfying: he manipulates the whole kingdom and becomes a cruel dictator or he gets killed in the end. And I'm really looking forward to see the worst possible end
@@NoxAtlas I haven’t read the manga but my friend explained some of it to me supposedly at least in his opinion it’s better than the anime. And by better I mean it doesn’t have as much plot holes
@@bleach_smoothie1033 I didn't watch the anime because I'm not THAT invested in this series... yet. The plot isn't really good and the characters are unlikable and one-dimensional. If it wasn't for my curiosity how far everything will escalate even further, I would have dropped it already. Funny enough that my friend called it an isekai although the protagonist doesn't really come from another world. Instead Redo of Healer is a rape hentai fantasy series that just pretends to be an isekai by adding gaming elements.

Tbh same. MC already knew she was a POS after hearing in on her, he knew the tea was spiked, and he already had that resistance to drugs. You'd think he'd play along to avoid getting his ass claimed by the entire squad?
I hate that the anime didn't go over this, but flare can detect keyaru wherever he goes, so fleeing from her would be fruitless. Also, he stands no chance against her with no power. He has to inherit the powers of those he heals to even have a chance.

She can tracks him wherever he goes and she is stronger than him. He had NO resistance to drugs, he was just more advanced in the way to get that resistance. Other than that, yeah he should have tried to avoid getting his ass clapped.
