Correction: The pre-requisite in becoming a Muslim according to the Quran is believing in God, His angels, His scripture, His messengers and to make no distinction between any of them.
2:285 The messenger have believed in what was sent down to him from his Lord, *and so did the believers. They believe in GOD, His angels, His scripture, and His messengers: "We make no distinction among any of His messengers."* They say, "We hear, and we obey. Forgive us, our Lord. To You is the ultimate destiny."
Could one even argue that the testimony is "We hear, and we obey. Forgive us our Lord. To You is the ultimate destiny"?

Peter Griffin by following and believing in the Quran, are you not accepting the angels, prophets etc?
And, I don’t think so. Although that was obviously said, no where does it say that you need to say this

here is 2:285 with the translation from Talal A.Itani:
2:285 The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, as did the believers. They all have believed in God, and His angels, and His scriptures, and His messengers: 'We make no distinction between any of His messengers.' And they say, 'We hear and we obey. Your forgiveness, our Lord. To you is the destiny.'
If we focus on the first part of this verse we get... "... The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord... "
What was revealed to Moses? ... the kitab Tawrah.
What was revealed to Jesus son of Mary? ... the kitab Injil.
What was revealed to the Last Prophet? ... the kitab Quran.
So, whosoever believe in what was revealed, Tawrah/Injil/Quran, to the messengers during their lifetime is a Muslim.
In other words, believing in the scripture of that time... which would mean Moses did not bring Judaism but brought Islam... and Jesus son of Mary did not bring Christianity but brought Islam... and the last prophet did not bring Sunniism/Shiitism but brought Islam.
3:52 When Jesus sensed disbelief on their part, he said, 'Who are my allies towards God?' The disciples said, 'We are God's allies; we have believed in God, and bear witness that we submit.'
the above verse will be made clearer if you read it in Arabic... focus on the last Arabic word in 3:52.
      salam.
