    Interest ing. Questions I have. I would like to see how this does thru haulover inlet, maybe front needs re-design. I would like to see how it does in the high weed, high milfoil lakes of the midwest. How is the top speed when pulling a water skier/ barefooter ? what is the wake pattern. Last, were you trying to make it look wavyier than it was in the beginning? that was just wierd.

    • @JetBoatPilot
      @JetBoatPilot  Před rokem

      I would not suggest this boat be taken through Haulover. It's not really made for that sort of scenario. It does have an IDF (intelligent debris free) system that helps eject weeds from the I take by spinning the impeller in reverse. We'll try to get some waterworks video this spring when the water warms up. Not sure what you mean about the wavyier comment.

SeaDoo used high revving PWC engines then and there is still a large following for these boats today. They're made to run at higher rpm. Now, this does mean that they will create more noise than an outboard engine. But I can tell you that I own a Switch with the 170 hp engine and its very quiet when crusing. I'd say as quiet as an OB in my opinion.

    So what happens if you get a clog that doesn't come out by blowing it out on these?? I don't see any manual cleanout ports like the yamaha jet boats have on them. Would you have to limp back to the dock and pull the boat? I'm def not swimming under a boat to try and clear debris. That could be dangerous.

    • @JetBoatPilot
      @JetBoatPilot  Před 7 měsíci

      That is correct. You'd have to limp home or find a tow. But bear in mind that sometimes even a Yamaha can get clogged in such a way that you have to limp home. No propulsion system is without some measure of risk of being fouled. This system just gives the user one extra weapon to combat clogs.

    • @richr909
      @richr909 Před 7 měsíci

      @@JetBoatPilot Thanks for responding. For me I guess I'm just going to have to buy a normal outboard pontoon then. I don't want any risk of clogging where I'm forced to limp back or get towed in. Now what needs to happen is someone needs to make a modular seating normal style pontoon for just a little more money than the switch. The main thing about the switch that makes it so attractive is the price when compared to an outboard pontoon. And all pontoons should be Tri Toons in my opinion so they can handle the rough water like the switch. It just stinks that the outboard Tri Toons are so insanely overpriced for what they are. Plywood with some tubes under it, some seats, a steering wheel and an engine should only cost around $35k brand new.

They'll likely sell the boat in a few years and upgrade to a newer or bigger boat as they acclimate to boating. Time will tell how long it holds up. I just don't think that it should be discounted just because SeaDoo chose polymers instead of aluminum for pontoon material. Aluminum corrodes and dents and can fill with water if punctured. These pontoons are designed to actually fill partially with water to increase weight and stability and are filled with a foam core that prevents the boat from sinking. It's pretty innovative if you ask me.

Then if you step up to the 21' 230 hp switch... to get a similar size tri-toon pontoon with that size motor you are going to spend upwards of 80k. Not exactly my idea of a game changing boat. Compromised pontoon boat at best, especially given the need for the jet drive portion of the hull to make contact with the water. Makes the craft more like a Tritoon but with a seriously underpowered propulsion system. At best this is a flawed entry into boating that’s seriously overpriced & a guaranteed way to throw one’s money away.
