What I like most about this video is that it is almost like 'boating for dummies'. I do not mean boaters are dummies, when you are new at something, you will make mistakes. This video explains in a friendly way how to avoid mistakes that could prove catastrophic. Good job!
Great video. Very in depth, but to the point. You covered a lot of information and I never felt the need to skip ahead like I do when most instructional videos start rambling.
This is the coolest boat I have seen in awhile, I know they where trying to make phones modular but it did not go anywhere. This boat is a game changer in the boating world
Awesome review! This boat is checking everything on my list except for fishing-friendly features like rod storage, live well, and captain's chair.... I'll stay tuned for those updates!
Very nice overview. In regards to the strap holding down the bimini top while its lying flat....you don't need to rotate the strap. Instead, have the strap hanging freely before lying the bimini down and then run the strap through the outside hole. Now you can run the strap through the connector and have the velco connection on the inside of the boat.
You did excellent job not only explaining everything but demonstrating them as well
Thank you!
Your title was not click bait, this is the most in-depth review of the Switch I've seen and I learned about many features that I didn't even know existed. I've never heard your docking saying before but now that I have I'll neve forget it. I was concerned about the throttle controls and if maneuverability were going to be an issue but it appears this thing can do a complete 360 in it's own length, something no other boat that I've ever had could. Wish the video included a section about actually being on the water with it. Curious to see how it handles in a moderate chop and if you think the engine you selected is sufficent for pulling a tube or handling the weight of 6 or 7 people. Other than this, great video and thanks for taking the time to do it.
I think its going to tow a tube very well. Also the outer pontoons take on water while in the water so they get heavier and provide stability and better ride quality. In the chop it feels like a much bigger heavier boat.
Well done sir!! Everything I needed to help me with my buying decision. By far the best Seadoo Switch video to date. Thanks 🙏🏼
Thanks for the kind words!
I just bought a Sea-Doo Switch 21 but haven’t taken delivery yet. This is the best review of the boat and all it’s features that I have seen. Thanks!
Thank you! We love ours!
Best Sea Doo switch video yet. I’m looking forward to the others you mentioned. Good job!
Thank you!
Best review / product introduction guy EVER!
i have no desire to buy a boat, a seadoo or seadoo boat. but for some reason i watched this whole thing and i have to say it is one of the best reviews/how to's ive seen on here. so much was covered at a good pace, easy to follow along, excellent visuals and camera work. if i ever decide to get a boat it may be this one only becuase i know feel like an expert and could go to a showroom and know what was going on. i dont even know what happened with this last 38 minutes, but i aint mad.
Thank you! We love this boat! It is a joy to drive!
Bro I was gonna say the same thing lol I don’t own a boat nor am I looking to buy one or anything but this video popped up on my feed and I watched the entire thing through and now I want one of these lol
@@dailyfb5481 haha, sometimes people just know how to explain & talk about things just right that its contagious, feels so legit like you've known them for a decade, where they answer questions you didn't even think of asking but are like "omg that's clever". Its a rare gift honestly. If I ever need a boat in this class I'm 100% looking at this one simply because of this review. I work in advertising & this review is just good, the sort of thing I wish my clients would give me as creative. Part of why I am geeked out about it when most are just like, meh, its a boat review lol just a lot of respect for a random company on the tubes for doing a great job.
Hahaha 😂
What a fantastic video! SeaDoo should buy this video from you in order to show all their customers how to use the boat. I'm really interested in getting a Switch once I move to SW Florida, and your videos are making me want one even more!
Thanks! The boat we reviewed we bought for this purpose, to share with others our findings. We really appreciate your feedback!
JBP, without a doubt the best initial overview of the boat. I own a 21’ cruise 230 (July 2022). While I love the boat and I’m a 4X SeaDoo owner I highly recommend an extended warranty for this boat. I’m in the process of SeaDoo replacing the engine (original engine had 12 hours) due to it making oil from the #2 cylinder. It has been beyond frustrating working with BRP during the testing, evaluation, and finally getting a new engine but I do still love the boat for the family. For any potential future buyers get that extended warranty!
Excellent thank you for the encouraging words
It's a boat. So you can expect to be shelling out a LOT of money to keep it running. I had a 28 foot cruiser for 5 years and looked at the cost of docking, insurance, upkeep, problems, ect and decided I could be taking some nice vacations every year for just what the annual cost was and I had NO payment on the boat. I can't even imagine what insurance will cost for a 28 foot boat now with all the hurricanes and especially with what happened in Florida last year. You know they will pass the cost on to everyone. We all know that saying, happy when you get it but happier when you get rid of it :)
Very good to know thank you
@@trvman1 Hey, I know your comment was a few months ago. Just wondering ballpark what the average annual cost of all that was
@@michaelruiz995 10 years ago docking was 4 grand a year, insurance was 700 bucks, a year, then if you had an engine problem, 500 bucks, gas who knows. I would highly suggest BEFORE you by, look at what boat you like then get insurance quotes. I hear boat insurance is now out of sight because of the hurricanes. Everyone pays, even if you aren't in a hurricane area. Look at what docking fees are unless you are going to trailer it, but make sure you can get to a boat launch that isn't full by 8am. It will all depend on where you live. Do your homework.
I've watched most videos on CZcams about the Switch and this one is by far the best! I presently have a '22 FishPro Trophy and have ordered the Cruise for spring '23. The detail that you get into about each aspect of the Switch is much appreciated, I've learned even more than even the dealer up here in Ontario told me. I've saved the video so that my kids and grandkids who are also going to be using this can learn as well. Thank you for the excellent video!
Thank you! JetBoats are our passion and this one is truly special! You're going to love your new toy!!!!
@@JetBoatPilot I'm also going to recommend your video to my dealer to show interested customers...you cover everything that a buyer needs to know.

Very Good Vídeo!!!
How are you liking your switch?
Great video! I saw one of these for the first time this weekend and have been obsessing about it ever since. Thank you for the full breakdown.
You're welcome!
You did an amazing review sea doo needs to sign you up you went over absolutely everything and it was enjoyable…good job
Awesome, I wish! Thanks!
You do an incredible detail job. I’m actually thinking of this boat.
Thanks! It's really good for a new platform.
Absolutely gobsmacked. This is the best recreational boat I've ever seen for a person in a wheelchair. Absolutely 💯
It is pretty great for that. You'd just need a gangway to get the foredeck near enough to the dock.
How in the world could a wheelchair board that boat? There’s no entry gates.
@@dukefurst5741 there's a wide one in the front.
czcams.com/users/shortsWb4qRLKcIYY?feature=share This link is to a great video on YT with a father who is in a wheelchair and his son who looks to be 9 or 10 removing all the seats and everything else it’s amazing!
@@dukefurst5741we take our father in law out on his wheelchair fairly regularly. When cruising with him we wheel him to the back of the boat and use straps to the rear rail and his chair. If we take his fishing, we leave him by the front gate, lock the wheels and do not go fast. You just need a ramp that is close in height to the front gate and back him on the boat.
Not just a review, this video should be essential watching when you buy one of these. it could save owners thousand of dollars and headaches by showing them common mistakes and how to live with the boat. i've been researching the switch for 5 months and will be ready to buy in a couple (doing a house solar project first). i feel 10x more confident in buying one now. Thank you!
Thanks for the compliments!
Unbelievably informative video… You should be a salesman for the company. Very good job
Thank you!
i think this watercraft is PERFECT!!! going to look at one today to see it up close, and with year end sales might get one... great video thanks looking fwd to more 🤠
This is the best so in-depth review for this product.

Ohh man this is really nice 👌. I actually love the controls i wish they did a twist grip that would be really awesome. This would be my ultimate buddy fishing pontoon. Quick, maneuverable, room for 4 dudes and a couple of coolers comfortably 👌. All the plastic kinda concerns me a lil bit in the durability department but overall looks awesome.
Excellent video covered all the features in detail. Love this style boat perfect family fun . Going to rush out and buy one :)
Even though I will never own one of these; I have to admit it's a pretty cool little boat! Great review of her as well!
Thanks!
Professional and very detailed explanation.Awsome Seadoo pontoon. Thanks great video
Thank you, they're going to sell a lot of these boats!
What a great review and info video. I love that you really hit all the points. Again great job!
Thank you, jetboats and PWC is all we do so we try to add lots of details
We rented one last summer. There were plenty of cleaver design elements that this video covered well. The rental was the 21' with the 170hp motor; definitely not enough motor for this size. The boat was very LOUD under power.
Yeah, 18 footer is really underpowered with the 170hp, I can only imagine how it was on the 21 footer
not under ouwered
Excellent review! Great job showing all of the features and operations that this boat has to offer. Also appreciate the tips and tricks that you gave us as well. This is a really cool watercraft. Thank you for taking the time to make a great review. (appreciate the drone shots too!)
You're welcome! We loved making it!
Great Video for those who want to get into a Switch. Thank you
JBP - EXCELLENT REVIEW THE BEST I'VE SEEN ON CZcams, SEADOO NEEDS TO MAKE YOU THEIR REVIEWER/BOAT TESTER, OUTSTANDING JOB👍
Thank you! We love our Switch! Both of them now that we have 2!
You got my sub at "Let Freedom Reign baby!" Boats in Florida and loving US of A.....my kind of channel!
Hoo Rah! Gotta love those jets flying over!
What a fantastic review! Love the boat. I’ll definitely buying from you guys.
Awesome thank you!!!
Finally a boat that make my inner-boy exited. This boat look so useful & can go through any kind of water.
It's can easily be use as rescuer boat if flash flood happened anywhere
It is quite different. What makes it so revolutionary compared to all other BRP powered jet boats that came before it is the fact that it now can clear debris from the impeller using the IDF feature. We'll do a video on that when it warms up a bit.
I want it even more after this review! Thanks for such a great review!
You're welcome! Hope you get one!
Excellent review and thanks for reminding people about venting the engine. It might sound obvious, but human error is a thing. Years ago, I was on a buddy's 27 foot boat. He normally filled up at the gas station about 30 mins from the boat slip. On this one particular day, he filled up at the dock and forgot to run the vent fan. The explosion and fire had the restaurant patrons fleeing. A huge 80lb cooler sitting over the engine hatch shot 30 feet straight up into the sky. There were 6 of us in the boat and luckily there were no injuries and the fire was quickly put out by the fire extinguishers that he kept on board. He had that boat for over 3 years before this happened. He knew about venting, but a simple change in habit and some other minor distractions was enough to cause several thousand dollars of damage.
Yes it's a real thing! Must be part of every startup routine.
Venting the engine doesn’t sound obvious. People have blown themselves up because of this. I’m thinking of buying this boat, and that kind of information was welcomed.

You're welcome
Great video, amazing tri tune. We cant wait to own one!
Thank you, you explained things very well, better than most videos out there , 👍
Thanks for the feedback! We enjoyed making this one!
I thought I might want one of these even though I'm not a power boat guy. But your overview made it look far more attractive as a multipurpose watercraft than the seadoo ads. Maybe your followup videos will answer this of how hot does plastic everything get and how well will it hold up in the sun.
Thanks for the comments! We'll definitely stay on the follow up. SeaDoo has a spray protectant that will preserve the color. It gets applied once per year.
This is a very nice boat man wish I had one of these very well thought out!
Great video! Very informative and from the consumer perspective. Thinking about getting one.
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for the compliment! We sure do love our Switch.
Spearfishing in this would be epic!
Very innovative boat. Great video. Thanks.
Owen, simply let the bimini latch down strap hang on the outside and feed from the outside of the slot to the inside. You can then thread into the buckle on the inside. I like your video. I got my 2022 18ft 170 in May and have 100 hours on it. Enjoying every minute of it.
I see that now. Good to know there's a couple ways to do it. Thanks!
Any problems so far and if so what's been the cost?

Thank you! We have two of them. They're so much FUN!
Very nice review 👍 Well done.
Sir, you are an awesome teacher ❤️ 👏🏿, You make me want one of these even though I can't afford one. I enjoyed watching from beginning to the end. Be safe on the water. ❤❤❤
Very Very well done. I know some folks are sad no big rip on the bay, but they have to understand the hardware and controls (if a purchaser) in my opinion if i just bought this vessel this video captured the feel of the craft. again will done, you have done your homework sir. :)
Thank you. It helps that we own this boat.
I was at my SeaDoo dealer today, questioning where the sand and debris go that fall through all the crevices and slots in the deck. It all drains down to one or the other of the outers hulls. SeaDoo recommends flushing the outer hulls yearly. The center hull remains sealed from any debris. Also, the outer hulls are built to partially fill with water when the boat is at rest, and drain out as the boat accelerates. This supposedly increases stability at rest or slow speed. The outer hulls are composed of 3 independent sections, and any one of the can be replaced individually if damaged.
Well I learned the hard way of taking my boat in for a fix……. There are NO trim TABS….. the trim is the jet angle…. The tabs on the back of the boat are spring activated and are only for balance and not adjustable…… love the info you provide….great vid….
Interesting, was not aware of that.
On another video heard that those trim tabs are adjustable with a wrench.
Seadoo is definitely number one when it comes to innovation. I like a lot of the features of this pontoon my only concern is long term durability with all the plastic locking pieces and clips. Great review!
Time will tell...
I wouldn't expect it to last overly long but it seems like an enjoyable boat for a few years
@@questlive2338 why would you expect that? Is it because it has polymer and isenglass sides?
@@JetBoatPilot Because the sun's UV light oxidizes any kind of polymer making it brittle. Some of this can be negated after buying the thou$and dollar mooring cover (which should be standard on boat this pricy).
@@normwetherbee3403 even on objects that never see light?

Looks like the seats can be fastened to the anchor tile in any of the 4 cardinal directions. makes for comfy fishing to face out. very clever. me likes it. Also the dock tiles are a great selling point.
AWESOME video!
Impressive review. Thank you!
You're welcome
Yes I agree, the model I was referencing from the early 90's was more of a rescue/utility boat. As a side note the first sit on SeaDoo's came out in 1965 or 1966. The first ones I ever saw were on the cover of National Geographic magazine when they did an article on the new Lake Powell in Az. that had just opened up. I believe that SeaDoo was the first recreational "Jet Ski" that was ever made. I wanted one the minute I saw that magazine cover and about 15 years later in I believe 1987 they started making them again. I bought mine in 1988.
That's a cool story!
Very nice! Wondering why Sea Doo didn't add side entry points and a bigger swim platform. On our Yamaha FSH, we spend most of the time on swim platform. Still, this is a very cool new pontoon design. Great review!
I imagine to keep cost down they opted for one entry point vs 2. They'll likely increase the size over time. It's the first year.
Excellent Review !
Thank you!
After your review I’ve decided thus is the boat I’ll have. Thank you for your thorough video.
Thank you! Enjoy your new toy!
you'll be sorry
@@ericmartin2470 why
@@bethanylenning7593 you cant see? that boat is mostly plastic and cheep fiberglass. after 2 or 3 years in the sun most of the seats will crack and retain water. the deck and hull will turn to chalk. sure it looks pretty now but shortly after the warranty runs out you'll have issues, if not before. everything said in this video is accurate but SeeDoo is notorious for dragging out warranty claims and cheep products.
@@ericmartin2470 so what pontoon do you recommend? I want one that can tow.

GREAT job!!! Thank you!
Finally the closest thing to a SxS watercraft. I hope Yamaha, Kawasaki and Polaris are interested in this New Market Segment.
Something tells me they will
I really like pretty much everything about the Sea Doo Switch except for the Bimini top, I really wish the Bimini top folded back versus forward. This way you could stow it down without it being in the way while using the boat.
There are some pros and cons to it. Ours has issues with the canvas snaps releasing while underway. I kind of like the forward swept look. Makes it look sporty.
Hopefully having it fold forward will keep you from destroying it on a low bridge. Done that 😡
This is a pretty in depth review on this model, showing the features and things that you may want to see before buying of your interested. I am a bit surprised to find that this doesn't come standard with a battery disconnect switch, its a "Switch" without the switch. This is a pretty important detail that I'm glad to see you mentioned. After sitting for only a few weeks, it would be pretty inconvenient and agitate me to finally get out back on open water and have to wait hours for a decent charge to get the thing started. To the manufacturer, why are you not putting a disconnect standard in these? Thanks for showing us all these features and options you have in this model!
You're welcome!

You're welcome! We enjoyed making this!
@@JetBoatPilot ty you are great at this all so hows all the plastic holding up buddy. On the switch Is it warping???
@RICHARD WOODS the panels are holding up well, but to be transparent mine is kept indoors in a climate controlled warehouse. I may not be the best person to ask this question. Someone who leaves theirs on a lift all day without a cover would be the perfect person to ask.

I found this video eyery useful and fully informative. We owned a Seadoo Speedster 240 HP. We loved the boat. However, we soon learned the seat cushions were built to protect the knees while forgetting about the tailbone. The hard fiberglass seat was like a open clamshell and there was less than 2" of form under out tailbones. Whenever we hit a wave, we killed our tailbones and we still have trouble with them today. Eventually, I learned by removing the seat cushion and spinning it 180 degree we were able to drive in comfortably.. the end of pain! The knee area had 6" of foam and it was so comfortable after the mod. The seats on the switch appear to be similar. Is the ride painless when you hit waves?
In general, I find all the details to be too much when trying to go out and have fun. If you forget or someone unsnaps anything, it could be end of potentially fun day. IMHO The the top can't be fully deployed while on the water traveling at speed i.e. it is useless!
The ride is remarkably smooth in my opinion. Not sure if it's the tri toons or the water in the outboard toons but whatever it is, it's a pleasure to ride. Feels like a much bigger heavier boat.
@@JetBoatPilot our Speedster was only 16' and I think i t was 1,600 lbs. I had replaced the intake grate for a solid graite and tuned the ride plate. It would literally start to plane under 10mph. It was a rocket. We sold it after 10 years, However, I didn't figure out the seat fix until right before we sold it. If you bottomed out on the seat, you would know it immediately, it hurts.
Looking at purchasing a 13' Sport compact. Insurance is $380 a year and includes the trailer. Not too bad if you ask me and it's through State Farm
Not on the market for jetboats, but like your reviews :)
Awesome thanks!!
Thanks for this great video
You're welcome
Very informative. I live on the Chesapeake bay and wondered how well this would do? Im thinking of the 22'
excellent in depth review thank you! Quick question - what is the passenger seating capacity on the 18ft vs 21ft model thank you!
18 footer seats up to 8. 21 footer seats up to 10.
My question is how do you enter or exit the boat when you only have a side dock? My local lake does not have slips like that.
Some have modified the aft rail and converted it into a gate. It allows access to the rear left or right side of the boat and if you configure your furniture the right way its actually pretty convenient.
Love it!
Great video, defintely in-depth....wondering about salt water use and flushing, with our current outboard, we can flush while the boat is docked and in the water. I assume the Switch can't be flushed while in the water, the lower unit is always in the water.
True, you want to flush it while it's out of the water.
I've got an old sea doo pwc, I have to say sea doo has some beautiful pwcs/switch..I dunno if they're mostly gimmicks or not...but they've got the most beautiful high end pwcs
SeaDoo tends to spend a great deal of time on aesthetics and form. They also make a really high performance PWC as well. There has been a decades long argument over who's got the more reliable tough dependable ski, the Sea-Doo or the Yamaha. In my experience Sea-Doo has been the more innovative forward thinking and even risk taking brand. The went for it big with this new Pontoon. Yamaha tends to be more conservative and don't innovate quite to the extreme like Sea-Doo. But don't think that Yamaha is not an innovative company. They too make some really cutting edge stuff. Check out their new Drive X technology on the flagship 275SDX. It's pretty impressive.
@@JetBoatPilot yeah I've been told by almost everyone yahmaha is the most reliable, and if I'm buying used I think yahmaha is the way to go, but once I can afford a brand new pwc I think sea doo can't be beat in regards to features and looks...

This tri tune is amazing. Wish the colors had a little bit more optiions
I am curious how this switch performs with 8 adults on it. Are you still able to pull a person on a tube or a wake boarder ? Please reply with the max persons or approximate person/gear weight you have had on board while pulling somebody behind the boat.
Fantastic review. One thing is driving me crazy though... (31:40) you could have just left the strap buckle on the inside, pulled the strap end out from between the bimini rails (exactly as you have at 31:47) and passed the strap end through from the outside to the inside. No need to spin it around.
Cruise Control should work without regard to break-in.
Straps can indeed be strapped with the buckle on the inside, you weren't going through the same path that you did when buckle was on outside. BUT I think that buckle on the outside is better because you can release the velcro before you get on the boat and then raise the bimini instead of crawling under it.
I must be doing something wrong then. Mine has never worked.
Would this work with one person on a river that is shallow with submerged rocks. I wouldn't mind scratching the bottom my concern to cracking or knocking a hole in it and the draft with one person with just two seats like shown as the driver's seat everything else removed. Probably an in person dealership question
I think the polytec hulls are fiberglass reinforced polymer so they're less likely to crack and more likely to scratch than fiberglass or aluminum. With that said if the water is shallower than 2 feet I would not advise travelling any faster than about idle speed. 3 feet or deeper you can run faster but bear in mind water depths can change quickly and you could run aground causing damage to the boat and even risking injury.
Back in the early '90s SeaDoo made a semi rigid hull that you drove a SeaDoo into the back of and coupled them together with a couple of clamps. I believe this rig was about 12 or 14 long , I thought it was a great idea however I never saw one on the water anywhere. The only place ever saw one was at my SeaDoo dealer in the show room.
I don't think that will be the case for this one. The fastest growing segment within the marine industry is the pontoon. Second fastest growing segment is jet boats. This one is both and that makes it stand out from the rest. We predict it's going to be the best selling pontoon boat brand in a few years and also the best selling jet boat brand as well.
Bpd231 Martino, I am in the Florida Keys, and a couple years ago I saw a used Sea-Doo add on boat, one for sale. It was beat up but was a great little transit vehicle, and a guy was doing tours with it. Haven't seen but 2 as well.
Great job on the review. Awesome boat except the controls. Wtf is that??!!!! The steering is backwards in reverse. That is definitely catered to a new boater. As someone who’s been boating for 40 years. I don’t care to have some whacky steering. I can even overlook the bars instead of a wheel. But backwards steering in reverse is dumb in my opinion.
@Gold Plated Junk it's not ideal in terms of intuitiveness but in terms of command its instant and borderline aggressive.
@@JetBoatPilot right. And that lack of intuitiveness is what would have me slamming that boat into a dock when I went to muscle memory. Lol. Just like I sometimes go to step on an imaginary clutch when getting into an automatic after I’ve driven manual.
It looked strange when you were doing circles in reverse. I’ve never seen a boat turn like that. Not without bow thrusters lol. It does look pretty maneuverable. I’m curious to learn more about the drive, how it works and why they chose that design.
awesome !!! and as tiny house on water ???? Glass walls, double floors, stairs etc ??
As someone thats brand new to boating but super interested in this one I hope its cool if I ask a couple questions questions
1) other than oil changes what else would this boat need to stay in good working order?
2) are all the engines naturally aspirated? I saw someone below mention a supercharger
3) can this boat be parked outside as is or will it fade/age?
4) based on what ive seen on weights elsewhere is this a boat that a midsize truck can comfortably tow? I have a diesel gladiator
5) if I set up a giant igloo cooler with water can I fish off this thing too? If im getting into boating I want a swiss army knife
Thanks and great video!
Email these questions to me at will@jetboatpilot.com
There's not much to a jet boat to keep it working well. Flush after every salt water use.
flush out the pontoons occasionally per the owner's manual.
Engines can be bought naturally aspirated and also supercharged. 230 hp is supercharged. 170hp is not.
I would keep it under a cover to preserve the color however SeaDoo does have a spray on product that preserves the color.
Love your videos. Just got mine. Wondering does it take 10 hours of drive time before the engine lets you go full speed. I have the 230 HP and it’s capping out at 26 mph. I know you mentioned the 10 hr minimum for cruise control so wondering if this is a similar thing! Thanks!
It did get faster at 10 hours. Thank you!!!!
Hahahahah
Opening picture made me think it was a lawnmower
Do you think your seating config would work on a 18' sport. I really like how you have your front seating configed. I dont need the stereo in the corners but I would buy the corner tables for each side.
Not sure, the rails are lower in the bow on the sport right?
Will, another queation if I may. We pick up our 21' Cruise next week after they install the JL package. I see yours are on the bow? Do you like them there or if you had a choice would they be better on the stern or staggered? I need to let the dealer know on Tuesday how I want them. Thanks!
I do, I can have a conversation in back while our guests in front can jam out!
Great video!! Did you end up getting cruise control on the boat? Was there a break in period?
Yes it works now. Needed a computer flash.
I think applying the straps would be better velcroed inside to avoid coming undone due to wind.
