Doug,
I watched this video one year ago and I want to thank you for introducing me to the best car I have ever owned. I flew from Houston the Seattle and purchased a 2013 Jag XJL 5.0 SuperCharged with 22,000 miles for $42K. These cars are absolutley amazing. My biggest suprise was the fuel mileage I got driveing back to Houston. My "Average" speed was 73 MPH and I got 29MPG! At 85 mph the engine was only turning 1800rpm. One year later and I am still amazed and appreciate the car as much as I did the first day driving it back to Texas.
A big "Thank You".
Ray Ward hey dude !! What kind of repairs have you had over how many miles ?
Nice! Just saw one in CL Houston for 8k but needs an engine, not the supercharged but it is sweet.
Congrats on the ride!
this video also convinced me to buy an XJL!! I picked up a non-supercharged 5.0 model (I dont like factory boosted vehicles), for only 18k. Has 50k miles on it, and its not the London tan, its the orange-ish and black interior. Almost looks brown!!! I LOVE this car, and i was 3 days from buying a ford Taurus SHO for over 25k. So glad i ended up with this jag.
@ JJ Parker - I think they call that orange looking leather saddle leather. I know BMW and Lexus call it that. Jaguar calls my 04 XJ VDP leather biscuit leather.
Is it a automatic
Doug's series is secretly just a huge commercial for carmax
shaunp4trick who works for the autotrader.com a subsidiary of cox Enterprise, which is carmaxs main competition
WEIRD! sounds like hes doing Reverse competition analysis and screwing over his own brand!!!111
shaunp4trick I bet he has a column on autotrader.com or something, but he never mentions it.
shaunp4trick i cant disagree, although i know dougs been pretty critical of carmax in the past, but it does seem that way doesn't it. only way i see it helping his employer would be to bankrupt them with warranty repairs for all the jaguar and land rovers sales hes directing carmaxs way lol
yes but he's showing people how good the warranty is and how it pays off so more people go and buy expensive cars from carmax etc etc..
When he opened the trunk when revving it took me out 💀😂
🤣

Why did Doug stop being so funny?? This was hilarious!
Doug now takes his job professionally because it is a business
@@bonzobonanza Fine! I'm gonna make my OWN comedic cool car channel! With blackjack!
I actually like the new videos more, he goes more in depth with the car's details, and his comedy and jokes are now based more on the car he's reviewing.
Yeah old Doug was more about being kinda goofy wile reviewing cool cars but now he's picked up so much traction and he realizes people actually go to his videos to decide if they want a (usually) expensive car so he does a much more indepth review
I know I am the same!! I miss old DOUG
I laughed every time he opened the damn trunk 😂
The XJ x351 has a flaw with the key and that is a oversensitive one-click button to accidentally open the trunk of the car which you can do with out even knowing. A nice feature on a rainy day...
When he stood behind it obscuringhis face...hahahhahahahha
If I had a dollar for every time Doug says 35,000 dollars, I would afford that Jag.
Richard Mbogo If i got a dollar for the amount of likes you have right i'd be 100x short of buying a jag xj
Fuck speak for yourself lol
Richard Mbogo If I had $35,000 for every time Doug said $35,000, I would never work another day in my life
Take my word for it .... you would NOT want that headache.
No, you'd have about $8
What's faster though? The car or its depreciation?
i wonder if in another 4 years it will be 15k
These cars are about 19k
better off buying a more expensive car that will hold it's value. Buying this is spending 35k that you'll never see again, at least most of it.
Eyal R. most cars don't hold their value. buying a car and expecting it to keep its value is dumb imo
sab0nes The point is total cost per mile. For this car, repair costs will just skyrocket, insurance stays high, fuel costs are crazy. Even when it stops depreciating it will eat your money.
watching these older Doug videos makes me realize how much more robotic his newer videos are. almost like he’s burnt out and just going through the motions. with such a wider audience he’s lost the capability to show his personality through these videos. i love this video particularly, you can just kinda tell he had fun filming this.
I don't view it as him being burned out, he has to be more professional now.
?
Nonsense, lol.
He has no personality. Therefore he cannot show it.
This must have been done before the "quirks and features" days. :)
He was way more fun, nowdays he is so cringe as he squeals like a b b b tch .

Location
The interior in that car looks like it was repeatedly wiped down with a Scotch Brite pad soaked in paint brush cleaning water.
Seriously. Flawless leather but oily grime in every crease and scratches on every shiny surface...
Did you see that rear headrest? Reminded me of Coming to America.
Kzero 😂😂😂😂
just let your sooooooooul glooooooow baby, feelin oh so silky smooth!
Matt Farah's Million Mile Lexus exactly my thoughts. That car is filthy.
The engine on my 2014 jaguar XJL died at 126K miles. (All routine and regular maintenance performed meticulously). The dealership said I could get a new engine for $25,000. I spent over $13,000 in repair and maintenance in the three years I had this car. Now I have a 4100 pound paperweight in my driveway.
That’s absolutely tragic…
Does everyone really think Jaguars are still wired like they were in the 1970s? They do not have poor electrical systems and haven't since the early 1990s. Do Chevy pickups still rust away as they did in the early `70s? The perpetuation of such automotive myths is nonsense.
@clarkecars,I like your facts.
Yes, Chevy trucks do still rust away like the old ones... though just a little slower now...
So maintenance is much better now? I actually want to buy one
Absolutely agree with you. I'm in my 2 nd Jaguar the 1st an 03 S Type zero problems with that car one of the best car's I've ever owned.
Now my 2012 XF Supercharged V8 Portfolio edition. Another great car. I'm sick of all the people that are Jag bashing because of issues if cars built 30 years ago.
Brian Keith Null I’m on my second Jaguar as well. The first an ‘00 XK8 convertible, the current one an ‘04 XKR coupe because powaaaaahhhh! Nothing but reliable, sexy and fast.
Because of misconceptions, buying a used Jaguar is one of the automotive world’s best kept secrets.
Moral of the story is don't be the dumb ass that buys a Jaguar new
Most cars depreciate in value substantially their first 3 years after manufacturing (and being sold). The two makes that tend to have the least depreciation the first 3 years of a cars' life is Acura and Lexus. They're both basically 50% depreciating value after 3 years. This is the first and best reason to never buy a car new, unless you plan on keeping it for 10+ years. I tend to keep my vehicles for a long time and I never buy new. Certified Pre-owned is really the way to go. It's really like you get an almost factory warranty as if you were purchasing new, but you don't have to pay for the depreciation. BMW's and Merc's are pretty similar to the Jag's.
Ryan Shannon my first car was a 2001 saab 9-3. brand new was $89k. paid $4500. nothing wrong, just saab depreciation after 7 years
No, the moral of the story is, if you can afford a new car, then go for it. Otherwise wait till it depreciates.
Volatus how was Saab 9-3 $89k in 2001, did it come with a Mercedes s class?

It was one hell of a car to be dropped off at school in! My dad has owned 4 jag's, an 09 XF supercharged, 2010 XFR, 2012 long wheelbase XJL supercharged and now he has a 2013 XJL ultimate edition. I'd love to see Doug review the ultimate edition! It puts this XJL to shame.
If you buy a Jaguar, you should really get a bumper-to-bumper warranty with it...you'll need it.
Frank O'Connor I don't understand why you Americans make fun of British reliability. the shit you yanks turn out is so fucking terrible only Americans buy it. go to another country, I'll guarantee the closest thing you'll find to an American car is a European built ford.
haha :D
Jags are quite reliable now, and Land Rovers are also much better than they were too. Ironically, considering the USA vs UK argument going on here, it was actually FORD who did quite a lot to save them both and improve the manufacturing processes of each, as well as having a gigantic R&D resource pool to use compared to before.

You're rather generalising a lot of things/people, notformebeaky.
Doug This is a great series - so many luxo cars drop in value so fast - we need to know more details on these cars.
B4804514 they drop so much because there unreliable pieces of shit lol
LOL yes you need a mechanic in the back seat and a pile of cash :( Mercedes, BMW, Rolls Royce, Maybach, Bentley,
B4804514 anything other then a japanese car lol
Yes Lexus so boring with longevity
+James Franco scared words spoken by people afraid to live their dreams. Unreliable is not really a thing with modern cars these days. When considering the purchase price of BMW vs Lexus plus maintenance the maintenance cost is negligible. The boring Lex May cost $200/ year while the BMW costs $1000 a year in maintenance. Do you really care about $800 after a $50k investment so much that you will drive a grandma car? No thanks.
They are great cars. My dad sold his shitty ghibli amd bought one of this as the same price of a toyota corolla

@@kylesalings8355 No. I’ve owned two, and put a lot of miles on both. Both always worked great. The power is amazing. The only mechanical issue I had was with my first Jag when the moon roof broke and wouldn’t close all the way. This was one of the vids that helped me make my decision to by a mint 2011 XJ SC from my neighbor in 2018. It had 68K miles and she cared for it well; she was a regional manager that had to drive around to a lot of branches so she wanted to be comfy no matter what. She got a new job and didn't need to drive much so she put it up for sale and I bought it for $19K. Since then I've put 30K more miles on it and the only thing that I replaced was the water pump. It rides like a 510 hp limo when you want it to, and is as agile as a JagUar when you put it in Dynamic mode. The crazy thing is it is still worth $19K lol...
These are hilarious “less serious “ versions of the current Doug stuff. Very comical and fun to watch

It's great. Some things that annoy me, as with all cars. Had a 997 before and I mainly miss the manual. It's certainly much faster than my 997, sounds significantly better, doesn't rattle like my 997 did and is just as much fun to drive, probably more fun TBH. Traction can be an issue in the rain, but when it's dry out it's not as bad as some reviewers might have you believe. You can easily floor the car in 2nd gear and just rocket away with little to no TC actuation. With a manual it would literally be my perfect car. As it stands, I'll probably get a second car for the summer next year to scratch my manual itch, something cheaper, like an Elise. Alternatively I may trade in the F-Type for a new GT3, if that should actually get a manual again, as is rumoured. Though TBH...as much as I love Porsche, my main reason for getting rid of my 997 was disappointment with customer service, which was incredibly poor over the 3 years I owned it and I frequently ran into trouble with my OPC (everything from cracked windshields to personal insults) - so, yeah, I'm not too psyched to be buying a car from these guys again. They don't seem to be taking younger buyers seriously at all (bought my 997 at 21). Meanwhile, Jag's service has been absolutely terrific up to this point. Time will tell.
In 2012 I bought an '09 Jaguar XF with a supercharged V8 for $35k. Great luxurious car for the price. Owned it for less than 3 years but in that time there was only typical maintenance such as brakes or tires and a few blown fuses. Oh, and it was fast. In high school it earned me the nickname of "that kid with the jag".
you had a 35k car in high school?
TIL a 16 year old can have 35k in untaxed income without raising suspicion.
Mi Zhou I could make a cool story here but I'll just tell the truth and say my dad bought the car for me. But $400 monthly payments honestly isn't that hard to make. I'm currently making them on a Range Rover Evoque Coupe.

Dear Doug,
Today I committed the ultimate sin and made the incredulous decision to search CZcams for a car review of a "2017 Jaguar XJ review". However, I used the search bar for those particular words only. After wasting countless time filtering through videos, having my ear drums nearly blown off by the music intros of some people, I finally came to my senses.

I love my Range Rover!
He's got a point.
Its Indian now.
Pingu Pengu no one said anything about the country
and then there's ASL - Age Sex Language. hahaha :D
I think language was chosen for the smooth tone of "luxury", vowels and consonants. It's really supposed to be location but I don't think it would flow as smooth in the mind.
Thigrandil lol it's age sex location
Just picked up my Jaguar XJ R-Sport today, and thank this video for the inspiration. What an absolutely beautiful beast.
it's ugly but they drive great and weight way less than german full size sedans
This is literally an affordable Rolls Royce!

My Subaru Outback has an automatic trunk lid... so in every way imaginable, i have a Jaguar XJ supercharged! Sweet!
Brian V not quite
Every car reviewed should have a Doug Score!!! I started looking online for this car in my area because of this video, so while it may have been a bit tongue in cheek, all cars should get a Doug Score!
I really liked the "I will hide behind the trunk" trick. LoL
I won't consider a car unless I can find a Doug Score on it first. I laughed at the trunk openings - its the little touches that make these reviews the best. (Yes, the Doug DeMuro auto reviews are the best on the planet.)
Mumford
Just got a super charger off one of these at the junk yard for $35!! Come up of the year!!
Martin Pulido JR what are you using it for
Just amazed to find a boot that actually opens when you press the button 🤩
What a fantastic video... I'm hopefully getting a 3.0d V6 model soon, can't wait
Kudos for giant snowflake joke.
How much does it cost to buy a Manatee?
Bernard Bethel I was just thinking of the same thing.
Bernard Bethel If you call it a minutar it will cost you more.
Bernard Bethel Probably $40,000
Gotta love the Jags! But I do prefer the look of the older ones (90's - 00's) over the modern post 2008 models. They're cool now, but they used to have this classic elegance that I just dont see anymore. But Im sure they perform better now than they ever have, so its a fair trade I guess
This XJ is wonderful and better than the german ones!! Certainly, now they're quite different from those of the past, but I would prefer them!! Matter of fact the XJ is my favorite car
Thanks Doug,
After watching this video today Thanksgiving 2018 - Im going to buy one of these Jaguar XJ Supercharge AWD
