After an unbelievable day at Circuit of the Americas, home to the United States F1 Grand Prix, the next leg is the longest of the whole tour; taking us almost 48 hours from departing to arriving at the new Dream House of my friend James, TheStradman. From Austin we head North to a checkpoint at the Cadillac Ranch outside of Amarillo, then it's over to New Mexico for a night stop in Albuqueque. The morning brings about our little issue and a stop at Mercedes-Benz of Albuqueque for some last minute support before the journey continues to the Four Corners Monument at the intersection of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah. Lastly, we're onwards towards one of the most famous garages on all of CZcams!
It's hard to believe that in only 3 weeks we've already travelled 5,000 miles in the AMG GT Black Series, taking in roads like Tail of the Dragon, and tracks like COTA, but it could not be a more perfect car for the purpose. The only issues are firstly the need for new tyres / tires, and secondly this new found concern with regards to the low octane fuel found on the East Coast of the US when considering the state of tune of my GT BS.
We made it, and now we've got some epic days in store!
Thanks for watching, Tim

Amazing how you have already driven over 10000 miles in that car.
Thanks for all the work you put into sharing it with us!
full respect to you for actually using your car the way it was meant to be used. To be driven. Kudos mate.
Do you have a cracked windshield yet?
Would E85 work?
Shmee150 Awesome Video I'm glad you made all the way TheStradmans House safely and I can't wait to see what you have planned and Congratulations on driving more than 10k miles in your AMG GT Black Series and I'm glad you found that 100 Octane fuel
Tim on 10,000 miles and Manny Koshbin recently stated in one of his videos that his was still on the delivery fuel, thank you Tim for driving your cars as they have been intended and bringing us along for the ride.
Stuff like that is why I don't watch Manny's videos.
thats because that guy isnt an enthusiast. he’s a glorified car flipper.
It took Manny 7 months until his Speedtail ran out of delivery fuel
@@recnepselyp last time I checked you weren't in charge of what makes someone and enthusiast or not 😑
@@yohobo722 I agree, but he certainly has a point.
I cannot stress enough on the joy that Tim brings me with him driving one of his prized possessions so much, while most of its other owners would just keep it hidden in an underground garage!!
@@craigmorgan4676 if you can afford the car you don’t need to worry about the value , life’s for living not saving something fun for somebody else
@@craigmorgan4676 manny is not a car enthusiast, he’s an investor.
@@leedanielbuick6169 I just read your comment 3 times. I am having trouble making sense of it
@@danofficial117 I agree. IMO having a car like that sit in a garage is a terrible waste. Drive it like you stole it.
@@ncdozer3103 he loves car
Good luck you two! Have fun here in the USA! You guys are creating great memories together! Thank you for sharing them with all of us, much appreciated! 👍😎👍
Thank you for joining our journey
To see 2 of my most favourite CZcamsrs in this video…just wow! Can’t wait for the next one! The GTBS looks amazing in that garage!
If you were in the US during the Summer doing this trip, I would have pointed you to go over Rocky Mountain National Park. You get to drive from forest, go over the tree line, get into tundra, and go over 14k altitude a couple of times. I know the SW US quite well and will give some suggested drives if you want tips.
Would it be possible to share same tips with us, EU folks? Just for the sake of a possible occasion of a road trip throughout 'murica :D
Tnx in advance from Italy
@@LaPozionePerMorire I love the drive between Santa Fe, NM to Taos, NM via highway 68. State Route 4 between Los Alamos, NM and Bernalilo is fun too. State highway 3 near Encino, NM has a really nice, straight section of 3 to 4 miles long without a police officer seen usually. ;) Chama, NM to Antonito, CO is a fun mountain road. Cortez, CO to Del Norte, CO via Pagosa Springs. Rocky Mountain National Park NW of Denver is a lot of fun (but lots of traffic) but the full drive between Lyons and Granby is only open during the Summer. Vernal, UT to Rock Springs, WY is another fun drive. Show Low, AZ to Globe, AZ is another great drive. Flagstaff, AZ to Cottonwood, AZ via Sedona is awesome. I have many more but those are just a few of the ones I recommend. Beautiful scenery, lots of twists and turns, terrain that marvels. I really like coming out of the canyon going north towards Taos.
@@stevenf7683 Thank you so so so much! Thanks for the advice and thanks for taking the time to write this complete guide! I hope I can see and feel the road under myself one day soon!
@@LaPozionePerMorire I don’t agree with pal, I think Ste is an awful tour guide. I’d ask for my money back 😮
@@stevenf7683 highway 395 up the eastern side of California deserves to be mentioned!
Hi Shmee, there‘s no words for how special it is what you create there as a life experience, absoluteley unique. Congratulations to this mission project. Enjoy & stay healthy - all the best!
Thank you so much Tim for sharing these adventures with us. Your enthusiasm, your positivity, your comments that go with what you experience is just a real good pleasure to watch. Keep it coming Brother...🙌🙌👍🏼👍🏼🤟🤟💯💯🙏🏽
Love these scenic drive videos and when the two legends reunite in the end it brings smile to all of us :) looking forward to the content with James!
So glad you’re having a great time here in the states, Tim. Really enjoy seeing you DRIVE your cars and enjoy them as they were intended. Next time you’re in Texas, will have to one of the events where you’ll your car(s). Again, it’s gratifying to them being used and not garage queened somewhere. Thanks, again, for sharing your journeys.
Love these scenic drive videos and when the two legends reunite in the end it brings smile to all of us :)
happy to see you tick over 10k miles in my home state. our roads suck, but our views can be pretty epic. almost as epic as utah. hope the rest of this journey is amazing.
What a MEGA tour, thank you for such a great documentary of your journey
This episode brings me back a lot of memories because the Route 66… thank you so much SHMEE never tired of watching you drive.
This was a fun one to watch as we just covered some very similar ground From East TN to Phoenix and back. Grats on the literal milestone as well! (We have a few more squeaks and rattles than you in a 300,000 mile NSX, but they go away when you turn the stereo up a little).
This was fun to watch but funniest part was realizing how exhausted Tim looked at the end of the video. Driving videos are great hope we get more of them to keep up with the whole experience.
Tim love this type of content showing us the scenary and the places you visit and pass by . 👍
Can’t wait to see this video!!! Both you guys are my favorite. Love the colabs shmee is the man 🤙🏻
I love these video's, cool roadtrip footage scenery and with that cool ending at the stradman. I think my 2 favorite car youtubers together
I remember being at four corners while on vacation with my family. I got a picture of me with my two feet and two hands in different states at the same time. Such wonderful memories, thanks Tim.
Amazing trip! Now by the way it looks and all the adventures Shmee has been living with it, the gt black series is probably the best super car available out there in terms of price vs performance vs comfort to drive daily. And the cherry on top you get this Mercedes reliability even with a high performance engine. If I could afford it, it’d probably be the first and only super car I’d get.
It's an absolutely brilliant car for my kind of driving and what I like to do
Glad you enjoyed your time in West Texas. As someone from there it’s so cool to see your car there.
Every Day a joy to watch you Tim. This is more than car content and that’s great to see🎉😊
Thanks for the ride that was great glad you made it to James he's a legend looking forward to the next one! Cheers!!!
I love how you've kept all the stickers from the various tracks you visited. such a great personal touch!
Man I just love this SHMEE150 channel. Always a new adventure! Fun times! Enjoy the time with James and rest!
What an AMAZING adventure Tim! Continuing thanks for bringing us along!
Really nice that you went to visit the Strad , Always watch all your guys videos, Hope to see you in Florida. Happy Road Trip.
I really enjoy these long drive vlogs!
Following this great road trip from Sweden. Keep up the good work, Shmee!
I was not born an english speaking person and one of the reasons, I like this channel - the perfect english and grammar (obviously) from Tim, that I can listen to and improve my level of english language.
I really enjoy Tim's road trips seeing all parts of the world in which ever of his superb cars! Tim you mentioned having been to both ends and the middle now of R66. I would enjoy video of a trip all the way down R66. There are plenty more Iconic spots to see along R66 .Thanks for ALL the wonderful rides Shmee!
The lower octane will be fine at a higher altitude unless you’re tuned specifically for 93
Fantastic X 1000 Video.... Love the Travel aspect with all its ups and downs.. Hope your trip to Austin Tejas was up to par. Give me a ring when your back in town.
Tim, your road trip is awesome. You have to come to Lake Tahoe, CA one day!!! Great driving roads. It’s also great that you drive your cars and do these amazing international road trips. Its so incredible!!!!! And driving your cars is always the way to go despite the high costs of your sports cars!
I find it interesting that you wanted to take pictures by the States signs as you drove past them. Maybe States can take notice and build a little round about for people to take pictures by these signs. Not a bad idea. Usually people just drive by them and take a picture off their cars but you have shown a new need to take it to the next level and I like the idea.
Just love watching the road trip videos 💪
Thanks for watching
Great video Tim, love seeing the adventures that you share. Have a great time and I look forward to the next instalment. Thanks again Bob ( palindromic name 😂) M.South Wales
I live here in Salt Lake City! You got here just in time for the first big snow storm of the season🤪 Good luck with the cup 2 r tires and welcome to Utah!
You’ll love TheStradmans house, its so sick, love the vids keep up the great work
Thanks, nice overviews of the “ drive”… the American West is awe inspiring…… the last several years have gotten through much more of MONTANA ,Roads, parks, towns….
That Stretch at ALt can be tricky in a month towards Santa Fee in the High Desert. A almost night freeze to be stranded in. a camping bag and blacket emergency foods good.
Love all of your collaborations nowadays!
This journey is really a dream 2 of my favourite youtube car person together this will be amazing. Thank You for sharing with us these amazing videos on these scenery roads along the way. Just breathtaking! Love it
Hey shmee after watching yesterday's video, I have never seen you that emotional in any video before, love and respect for Paul Walker
Btw shmee 100 american octane is much higher than Euro octane. Different measuring systems 100 US is roughly 104-106 Euro . 93 us = 98 euro
Funny when you all entered NM and said the roads got worse. We do have good highways in Texas. Have fun on the trip!
It was great meeting you at Mercedes of Abq! Definitely made my day
That rattle noise happens to almost every Merc .. I had the GLC63S and have the exact rattling noise. Lucky enough I know how to take the panel off and fixed it ...
Brilliant video by the way!! Enjoy USA!
Exciting, 10k miles. Congrats on a great trip.
Friendship makes it interesting! Keep engaging in authentic conversations!
Tim, next time you're in Amarillo, stop for a meal at the Big Texan. The burgers and steaks are VERY good
at 14:35 in the video you are entering Bloomfield NM where I live. It would have been so cool to you. The Road that you stopped on to take your 10,000 mile photo is actually the road I live on.
Are you doing the million dollar highway, gateway canyon the gateway canyon resort/museum and the hogs back in UT it’s an awesome drive.
On fuel problem - great solution is to add around 10-15% ethanol, to max of E30 (usually modern EU cars can handle that on stock fuel). On 95 ron + 10% ethanol will increase it 2-3 RON
giving some random dude in a corvette the thumbs up in your amg black series is the most shmee thing ive ever seen! glad your having suxh a great time touring this beautiful country!
Drove through my neck of the woods. Love the Panhandle.
Just a quick question, do u have a Blue RS3? I passed 1 in Northern Ireland a few days ago & it had a shmee number plate on it
Shmee150, really enjoying the trip. That was a long drive, I'm quite exhausted lol. Good luck. 🙏
My 96 S500 Coupe just reached 110,000 miles not too far from the spot you reached 10,000. You're making quicker work of it than I did. Welcome to New Mexico!
What do you do to prevent those rock slinging cup 2 tires from shot gunning your car .... PPF...?
I love how Tim is in the usa and when he opens the boot you see a tesco carrier bag in the boot
Someone who actually drives their vehicles. This is why I continue to follow and support
Shmee did you announce a meetup in Albuquerque? If so, I am very sorry to miss it. I am a long time fan and live in ABQ. Good luck on the rest of your tour in the U.S.
Awesome, can’t wait to see the next one!!!
So I should grab a few offroad jerry cans if I happen to be crossing through new mexico? thanks for the tip.
Can someone explain to me what is Tim talking about it’s not recomendable to use octane booster on direct injected engines? I have worked with VAG brands for the past 15 gears and never heard of that. If I was him I would be using octane booster at every fill up.
Doin that drive,in that car, with ya Mrs .fair play. Enjoy 😊
43° is not cold at all last winter in Maine it got down to 20 below zero that is Fahrenheit
Can't wait to see more of you with James.
I've been waiting for this since u announced the US Tour
Glad to see another collab it's been a while
I think I drove part of this route in 2020. Very scenic. I miss that adventure.
Keep on driving Schmee.
10,000 miles already? Time flies!
Hey Tim It's trying to snow Here in Utah! not far from the Strad's House.... anyway is that roll bar behind you something you spec'd out or an aftermarket add on? Thanks be safe
Check my Instagram stories today! The roll bar is standard spec on European GT BS
i'm glad you're driving your cars Tim! I've got a 2018 f80 m3, and it's got 150k kilometers, still going strong
Wow thats a lot for 4 yrs
@@GeckoForReal i drive cross country back to back!
You are covering a bunch of beautiful country on this trip. We live in Florida and we flew out to Utah and Colorado for our last couple of vacations.
It's a stunning area
Love the Tesco bag in the boot :)
Every little helps
Should have stopped at Mesa Verde in Southern Colorado. It's absolutely amazing!
The New Mexico roads are very terrible, but the trains are awesome. Whenever I see one I wake my dog up and he'll hang out the window and just watch them rolling by.
Thank God for PPF!!! Hopefully you found 93 octane while in Texas
Can we download some photos Tim for our devices? the solar beam on the different roads should be nice. Thnx
I would just use octane booster the stuff you buy at gas stations are junk but any Autozone carries VP racing octanium is made by a real race gas company and raises up to 8 numbers or 80 points.
Seeing the 2 legend Car youtubers in 1 video again🥰
As a New Mexican I am so happy you got one of our sunset cheers
5:23 for Tim tryna carry a tune
you should visit Arches National Park. it’s very beautiful over there
That’s a long haul drive you’ve done - both you and car done well there!
Crossing my fingers we get to see Oscar Marshmallow in the next video. Loving the videos, there are definitely some amazing views out in New Mexico and Utah.
When are you driving thru Denver!?
Chemtool B12 will keep you fuel octane above 96 octane with 91 octane and more mileage. I have been using it over 20 years in many vehicles and off road toys.
Weird. You can get 93 octane in Tennessee at every gas station.. some even have race fuel pumps
Would have been awesome to seen you while in the NC / Tennessee areas. Love you're driving this car can't say I would lol.
Have been enjoying the US content!!
Do you need to do oil changes on a trip like this or not?
My fav CZcamsrs in one frame ❤️
Great videos! I love U.S. road trips!
Man, one thing i like about you is that you actually drive your cars and enjoys life. Sometime life is more than investments.
