Best way I can describe Slafkovsky’s development is EXPONENTIAL, leaps and bounds of improvements week to week. I was doubtful of the pick in his first year (after 30 years of rough CH drafting) but he has blown me away this season. Slaf is a physical specimen and a total stud!

The Montreal sport media at times appear to be just an extension of the Montreal Canadiens P.R. department. Indeed, these media tend to overhype players and the people at the helm of the Canadiens to make us believe they can do no wrong with their New York style "accelerated" rebuild instead of a "genuine" rebuild...If it does not work after 6 to 8 years, then, Mr. Molson & his investors will fire everybody and start all over again...to make sure they keep on making good money with their fans. Time will tell !!!

I disagree so much with Andrew Berkshire that I blocked him on twitter, many years ago, when he was heavily covering the Habs.
But I agree with Andrew's take on the portrayal of the Hyman story. Wealth can give you access to people, places and things that under privileged people do not get the opportunity to also experience and grow from. To deny that is to be, simply, ignorant of the reality. I'm sure Hyman's work ethic is extraordinary. But to frame the narrative that he had to jump through hoops to get the opportunities that led to his success, is ludicrous🤣

The is Bershire was right in what he said. No shot toward Hyman as a hockey player or his character. This about the neoliberal economic system that we have gone to over the last 50 years or so.Tax breaks, trade agreements and the destruction of unions served his father very well. Zach started the game well on the feild. If you wish to make it nasty and the comment is not an accusation or written with any knowledge of the quality of person Hyman's father one should make make note of Kevin O'Leary's recent defense on how Donald Trump did business. Real estate is a nasty business.

You NEVER recover 100% from shoulder surgery. I have had 3 of these in my life.
The shoulder is a floating hinge and there are few good surgeons who do this surgery.
It takes a minimum of 18 months just to rebuild all the muscles and another 12 to get the flexibility back.
You will see Cole start to pickup half way through next season.

@@pierredenonville8915 For some reason fans don't realize their athletes are human beings and they think that doctors have some kind of magic wand to make an injured player whole again.
      Be patient.......
You understand what you go through after surgery, lifting a fork or spoon to your mouth is a real task, trying to comb your hair, even harder.
Imagine how long it will take to rifle a puck on a one-timer again.

@@powers1500 I had 7 knee surgeries, 5 on the right 2 on the left. It depends on what type of surgery was involved. If it was a meniscus tear it's done through arthroscopic surgery where no muscles or nerves are cut requiring healing. You could be back on skates that same season.
With ACL or MCL surgery that's different because the ligament was torn. With ACL it takes 2-3 weeks just to begin to walk without crutches and physio doesn't start for a minimum of 2 weeks.
With ACL ligament surgery, the surgeon replaces the stretched or torn ligament with a graft of a tendon taken from your own knee or hamstring. I opted to get my graft from a donor (a cadaver) since there is no blood supply in a ligament. The ACL gets its blood supply from branches of a middle artery. The ligament somehow sucks blood to feed itself but has no blood supply for itself. If you play sports, especially for a living, you don't want to weaken your leg any further.
As a regular human being it takes about 4 weeks to do normal things. You are not allowed to stress the leg to much. Then comes the fun part. Rehab. In my case, I developed swelling after the exercises the first few weeks. You need to build strength and motion of your joint. It took me on average about 4 months before I was allowed to jog again and between 5-6 months before I could run or cycle.
I had to use a knee brace if I played any sport for another 6-9 months.
MCL surgery is more complex. I also had many more problems healing from this. The ligament is in the inner side of the knee. I was required to wear a knee brace for 6-8 weeks (I had 2 such surgeries, one was a partial tear (grade 2), the other a full tear (grade 3)). In the full tear, my knee was completely loose & unstable. I was in a lot of pain. I experienced one of my ACL tears at the same time I had this MCL tear.
My grade 2 was from over stressing the knee which caused it to lose elasticity (like an old overstretched elastic band). I never fully recovered from the grade 3 surgery and my knee was never the same.
I am not sure of what the extent of Kirby's injury was so I'm hoping it wasn't too serious.

I like Button, but his bullshit statement is only because he likes to keep his job. You too, Tony. I'm not gonna talk about Hyman, I don't know his story. My grandson was a goalie. He started at 4. It was our experience that in all hockey communities, referring to minor hockey where the real development happens was dominated by well to do families. This is not bullshit. We weren't part of these "clicks," so my grandson got passed over for every opportunity even though he has the skill package and heart. The kids in the clicks got the positions. It was disheartening for my grandson, who doesn't play anymore. He's been out 2 years, and he's 16. He is also 6'6". He was a very good goalie, too. Other parents were jealous. Sad! Hockey has gone to shit because the character of the people has. People should talk about this. Not all of us work for the NHL. Just sayin, cheers.

Hockey is toatally an eletist sport today. The families at the draft would not look out of place at the polo clud or yaught club.Kids today are getting drafted out of Ivy schools and Switzerland rather than Moose Jaw or Swift Current. The farm kids and blue collar kids hell an inner city kid are fading and kids like Brady,Connor, and Caydens have taken their place. Hence why game is so soft.Parents sending their kids to PR training at 14 years. It is all about the money today.

Kids in general are much softer. It has nothing to do with elitist families. Hockey is and has always been a sport that lenders itself towards the middle class. It’s too expensive for poor families so unless you’re a true stud you likely can’t afford it. That hasn’t changed, been that way for decades and decades.
