Jacob Fowler is continuing to be a beast in the NCAA! What are YOUR thoughts on Fowler's progression this year? Who do YOU see as the BEST goalie from the 2023 draft? And where would YOU rank Fowler in a re-draft? I'd LOVE to hear YOUR thoughts y'all!
He’s playing also with will smith , cutter Gauthier, Ryan Leonard, and Perreault it’s help a lots
None of them is a defenseman. Good offense but their d-core is just ok.
@@kevinlemire8197 How are 4 forwards helping Fowler keep the puck out of the net?? Had u said he's also playing with...(then named 4 D, might have made sense), but i dont see how 4 forwards are helping fowler keep the puck out of the net. I realize there's puck possession, and and offensive zone time and all that shit, but Fowler's numbers speak for themselves, it has nothing to do with the forward core on the team. Leafs fans will always find something... That definitely helps with the wins/goals, but its not gonna help Fowler keep the puck out of the net. See ya on the golf course, after the 1st round. I think id rather have my team just suck and not make the playoffs, than dominating the regular season every year, and usually finishing in first place, only to be bounced out of the playoffs by whatever team they're facing, yes, even the lowly Habs have recently beat the leafs in the playoffs, lol.
Cayden Primeau is also doing well this year with the club putting up 0.913 save percentage in 18 games and playing over 500.
He’s not playing over 500 you clown
Jakub Dobes in Laval has promise as well.
@@mikey._.33 our future looks bright. I think dobes is the closest besides Primeau and if he can't do it we have more than one guy that can fight for it
Was all Mental for Primeau he now talks to someone that helps them mentally. He's more use to the speed of the game. Hopefully he keeps it up.
Fowler is way better.
"Habs LEGEND Al Montoya!!!" 🤣
I was working and turned my head like whaa?
10x 💣 in CLB
He's not the first to say that heck l forgot he even played with the Habs. He is a University of Michigan Legend looking at his states, the are called the Wolves.
And yet he's not THE goalie steal of this draft, cause that same draft, the very same Habs organisation also picked Yevgueni Volokhin in the 5th round. And what that kid has been achieving in the MHL is just MAD. Lowest GAA by any goalie who's played over 20 games, 3rd best saves percentage in the whole league barely behind a Panthers Prospect who got drafted 2 draft class before him (but only played 14 season games). Number one reason his team got to the Conference Semi finals in the playoffs. Best numbers by any goalie in those PO having played 3 games or more (1.23 GAA in 7 games ! with a .954 sv%)
(The habs also got Quentin Miller whose second part of the season was also remarkable, after having prevented the Remparts from a more severe goal-flow hemorrhage in that total rebuild). Crazy goalie class overall.
Yeah but it’s mhl we need to wait more of him in the khl first
@@manu-animation-924 KHL or MHL don't matter much there. Both are in a state of slow decay (that got accelerated by the war on Ukraine and its ripple consequences but actually started long before that). But you can still see some serious talent emerge in comparison to their pairs (same goes for Silayev & Demidov this very draft for instance). The point of this message was never to compare Volokhin with Fowler toe to toes, but more to highlight Yevegueni's results that are - even with the massive grain of salt of the state of the MHL, or KHL- way beyond what you'd expect from a 5th rounder, much more so that what one could've expected from Jacob who was more of an unexpected 3rd that should have gone higher in the first place. And that being said, they both still have a long long way ahead to get to the NHL.
Might consider Luca Cagnoni for another draft steals video. I know it's only one year but he was taken by the Sharks with the 123rd pick and he's having a fantastic season for the Winterhawks becoming the first defenseman since 1993-94 to put up 90 points in a WHL season, and he's been tearing it up in the playoffs so far (3G,1A in the first 2 games). His size will be a concern at higher levels (listed as 5'9") but so far it's looking like a steal.
Nobody in the Habs leadership want to repeat the mistake to have ONE single starter caliber goalie, however good that one goalie is. No more can a single injury can cost everything. They want depth at that position, no the best possible, but the best goalie tandem they can get to play 50/50 60/40 (like Boston used to have). Like anything else, you need balance. You need a strong third and 4th option in the AHL. They are not trying to build a team with a few superstars + others, they want a team that will play as one, to have the vaste majority of players be from their own system so that everyone grow together, learn to lose and win as a team.
With the cap in mind, they avoid bridge deals like the plague, and instead sign long term for cheap because it’s based on what they believe they’ll become and not where they are now. And it’s the case for the bottom six too as Hughes said directly.
It’s only when all of that stuff is done that Hughes plan to bring one big name from outside that will be paid past Suzuki, but not until the team is pretty much all there and as bad contracts from the past era keep expiring.
It’s kind of fascinating to see the first full rebuild of a team that’s 120 years old.
Will it work? IDK. But the whole point is to be able to go deep into the playoffs in a sustainable way (obvious I know LOL, but the leafs and their fans being a thing that exist, it’s not entirely useless to get reminded what success in the NHL means for teams in their playoff window :p).
I so wish that Bergevin would have passed the torch after the cup run 2 years ago though. Because instead of understanding that the team was dead after that crazy swan song, he persisted which ended up with bad moves. He should have left Danault’s contract to be dealt by his successor; just that situation made us lose one of the best shutdown C out there, a first round pick, and gain a bad contract in his zeal to replace him. Danault would have been the best mentor for the next generation and still be there to shutdown the best offensive superstar Cs for years to come after the rebuild. At least he helped mentor Suzuki, which in turn will mentor the young Cs that will start to move up soon (including the one that they will hopefully be drafted this summer with a little luck and a bit more losing).
LA, please take care of our boy for us. And if PLD cannot learn to be better with him in the team, it’s hopeless imho :pz
You know hes a good prospect if Grav is making a whole video about him. I think calling him a starter this early is risky but the potential of maybe a Hasek is there. When he goes to Laval if he still is playing with a .915%+ honestly then I'll write him off as a superstar goalie.
You say it’s risky to call him a starter but then you compare him to the best goalie of all time?
You meant the potential of Halak. Fowler is a great prospect, and imo, will be at the minimum, a solid tandem goalie, with definite starter potential, but there hasn't been a goalie like Hasek since Hasek
@@rb2093_ Vasy?
@dvotzmusiccompilationsandc5647 I said that's his celling aka potential. I dont think he will be Hasek but it is possible. I think he's gonna be like Vejemelka or Gibson. I can say the same thing with Hutdon. He has potential of Quinn Hughes but probably will be no more then a Morgan Riley Tony DeAngelo
@@rb2093_ Vasy was arguably better. Hasek took a long time to break out to the goalie we know him as. Vasy arguably is about the same in terms of prime and he's had a longer better career then Hasek
Dobes had a rough start too and his stats are still good.
13:00 Dont forget Cayden Primeau, who is starting to heat up as of this year
Yevgeni Volokhin and Jacob Fowler duo gonna go hard
You should do one on your opinions on the NHL hopes for the 3 prospects the penguins got for the Guentzel trade and what they will pan out to be considering the trade was done within division.
Was the pun around the 9 minute mark intended. "There's only one Carey Price, he was a once in a generation for the Montreal Canadiens, a consistent 'Carey-er' of that team."
Roy Price beasts
Your videos are great but a mic upgrade would bring your production up so much! Just a suggestion, keep it up.
Question for all my Habs fans: Which of the Hutson or Fowler looks like a better draft steal? And also do the Habs become future contenders with Fowler at a superstar level?
Hutson I’d say, Fowler looks very promising but goalies are extremely hard to judge. By the time Fowler comes to the habs we should be a playoff team so if he also plays at a superstar level then for sure
Everyone should have goals. But good luck scoring on Fowler. He's insanely talented, and wants to get better.
He reminds me a lot of Roy when I watch him play. I think he should play in the AhL next year.
Jacob Fowler is the next Patrick Roy
absolutely
Al Montoya legend lol
A lot of habs fans were not happy after last years draft, and I understand that, the Habs need offence and they didn’t grab it (Mitchkov) when it may have still been there. But they could walk away with the best goalie and the best D in David Reinbacher (still super early)! Hard to argue with that overall. Great video as always, when are you going to hop on THE FIX pod with hockey junkie and I?
I think ppl are finally realizing that they were wrong when they look at Slaf, Lane Hutson, Owen Beck, etc.
I like Fowler a lot as well but I'll be interested to see what he can do in front of a bad NHL team and a young dcore cause depending on how long until he comes to the NHL will obviously still be a year or 2. A lot can change in a year or 2 for the Habs but that dcore is extremely young and inexperienced so I'd be curious to see how Fowler does in front of a team that isn't loaded confidence is a huge factor for goalies so I hope the Habs are patient and don't rush him to the NHL in front of a meh team
Dont you think hes already playing with a young d core? Hes in the ncaa. Plus, by the time he makes the NHL, that "young" dcore will be a lot more mature, and id say at least 2 more years older
@matthewfast4817 Every team in the NCAA is young so that doesn't matter and unless Montreal overhauls their dcore with all their dmen constantly getting injured they will still be very inexperienced in 2 years you want at least 300 NHL games for the average young defender before the game slows down and they feel comfortable
@@eliaminator2313 the habs D is fine, by the time Fowler plays as a hab this team will be making the playoffs.
Habs are so stacked for elite prospects at every position, it's nuts.
Fowler is so good that you left him off your list of top prospects
Fowler 6-2'' 215lbs or Fedotov 6-8'' 215 lbs who you take?
He could just be a product of how beastly the BC team is and not actually be as good as everyone might think.
Still early Montoya didnt much in the Nhl. Sometimes its the team that can make them look good jyst look at Nhl and goalies thst weren't considered amazing but had amazings orr won Cup. That saif l do feel this guy csn be the next great Habs goalie with... a great team in front of him in 3 to 5 years, something Price never had.
Idk why redwings didnt get him..im starting to doubt wings scouts. Fowler will be in nhl v soon year or 2 max. Kids fun to watch. Peace.
Goalie prospects from American system rarely turn out to be what people think they would, Jack Campbell, primeau , Montoya ect ect , only like 1 outta 20 ends up being good
Yea Oetinnger, Swayman, Demko, and Hellebuyck all suck
American's are leading the way with goalies... April Fools?
@@meller7303 How many cups have those 4 won combine🤔 hellebuyck is the only proven goalie outta that group.
@@stephaneferron5317 I mean.. Price, Lundqvist, Luongo, Rinnie, Miller, Hextall, Joseph and Kipursoff never got cups does that mean they weren't good goalies? 😂
@@stephaneferron5317 Primeau is actually playing really good hockey so i don't understand your point. some of the best goalies in the world never won a cup. try to raise your IQ level.
Imagine how great he will be with their great D-squad in the pipeline in from of him
As he was saying he has to keep the team in the game, he's going to be the only one doing that because if the lane hutson rumors are true and Reinbacher doesn't live up to the hype then he's gonna have to bail the team out like Carey Price did. It's the reason he never won that cup, the habs defense never is good enough as a whole to defend against good offense.
What Lane Hutson rumours?
@@ekeats2425 dude there's a good few rumors he's not signing with the habs and let's be honest he's probably gonna want a lot of money that Montreal won't pay him when his elc is up when he is signed. Plus it's a Canadian market and there are many players who don't like that kind of environment
we’ll see in two weeks after the Frozen 4 is over if he’ll sign or not
@@R376yt so much for the “rumours” contact signed
@@ekeats2425 I didn't know he signed at the time it must have been within the past few days or so
So his like a Tim Thomas? I’ll take that as a Habs fan!!
It's way too early to say that a college goal tender is a steal. Goalies usually take 6-7 years to develop before even playing in the NHL
Nice pick
Vezina 20 years straight
How does he look like a steal he hasn't played a single game yet lol.
In case your new to hockey amateur stats mean VERY little.Patrick Roy was the big name yet he had terrible junior stats so who cares?Carter hart of the Flyers had amazing numbers and where is he now?
versus better competition at the world juniors he had an .889 sv % so yeah we can't just throw around the positive numbers and say ok he is GREAT !!.
Furthermore if you pay attention to the nHL we have seen no name goalies left and right having big games it's all about how well the team plays in front of the goalie not the other way around.
3 games ago Fowler let a long shot from the point get past him and he saw the shot the whole way and if your letting shots from that distance in your not a goalie we should expect much from.
What about your Easton Cowan is looking like a draft steal video? Remember when you said he has no potential and he went on a 34 game point streak ?
He said it himself I've won at every Level
Habs have another great goalie and water is wet
Is he related to cam or no
100% will be our starter
The Habs definitely found their next Carey Price
He could be the next Mike Smith
@@Hankman23 As long as he plays like a Smith ill be happy for the fanbase
i predict that montreal canadian WILL win the cup next year and i say this on this day the fisrt of april 2024
He’s winning the Calder 2026
I'd love to see it!
Looks great! Might be as good as Devon Levi.
Better
@@carterhayes7240 definitely better than him.
Al Montoya is unmemorable as a Hab. Definitely not a Habs legend😂
And so Augustine !! Clearly Augustine was way better in the WJ And took the starter role with an edge while Fowler Clearly struggled in a big competition so to me he's not the Real Deal but obviously talented. BU is stacked overall while Michigan State not so much despite Levshunov in D who's potentially a future top D
He's won everywhere he's gone so far. He thrives off of people doubting him, so keep being a hater, it's good for his drive.
I'd say Augustine got the starter role because he's from the USNDT
@@cotenico are you limited ? I surely recognized he is pretty talented read better next time
@@Spotnick2 laughable ! I saw the games of both Augustine got the job because he was Clearly BETTER
Clearly better no 😂 Slightly better sure but Fowler still looked decent too. Doesn’t mean much anyways, Augustine’s not doing better in the NCAA so I don’t know what you’re trying to proove
Poor Primeau, no love for him I guess
He will never be a number one goalie
Helloo
Lose a little credibility when you put al Montoya and legend in the same sentence.
Dude's decent but I swear he's becoming one of the most overrated prospect lmfao
Hater, I’m in your walls
