- On this episode of The Sick Podcast, Stu Cowan joins Matt Ohayon to discuss their overall evaluations of the Habs’ star players’ seasons, why teams like the Maple Leafs aren’t built to win in the playoffs, and teams like the Bruins and the Panthers are, some surprises from the playoffs so far and much more!

Caufield was a B. His overall game improved a lot despite falling short on expected goal production…though he still scored 28.
Yeah totally agree, I think a C whatever is a harsh grade for what he did this season.
Yeah a C is harsh.
Austin Matthews is the heir apparent to Alex Ovechkin in terms of scoring goals no doubt but in terms of grit and toughness there is absolutely no comparison, maybe Mathews in the future will be that too.
With all the Leafs firepower when is the last time they scored more than three goals?
Stu made a really great point. No Leafs players are seriously turning people into fans. The way I see it, they have generational talent in Matthews. It doesn’t always translate into a generational PLAYER. A bonafide Cup winner. There are some exceptions to that. Some haven’t won it but had what it took. Iginla for example. The Leafs aren’t there yet in terms of mindset, mentality, killer instinct, IT factor.
Love the pod cast but seriously can I get that intro music on a continuous loop. 🔥🔥
Tied down in a chair with eye lid openers with the song on continuous loop for 20 hours a day
@@alex51400 With Yoko Ono singing it.
Solid work.
Injury prone is injury prone. They can't rely on dach staying healthy. They need a second line centre.
Way to hard on Caulfield , he literally set career high , in points ,assists ,games played
Matt: Stop dancing around! or cut back on the coffee. you don't need a stimulant - you need to calm down. I don't think that the medium is like kind to continuous rapid motion on the screen. Your analyses and knowledge are fine.
If the Habs draft a forward, unless they land the number 1 pick, it's going to take 2-4 years to develop and make an impact with the Habs. If they are looking for a top 6 forward for next season and the future, they will either have to sign a free agent or trade for one.
The reconstruction continue!!! No rush I don’t want my team to be the islanders of New York I’d rather be the Rangers of New York lol
@@frenchycanopy1659 I agree.
@@frenchycanopy1659
Don’t want to be the Isles,
but Rangers aren’t the best example either,
because they got Panarin….
BE CAUSE they are NYC
the Big Apple
Shopping in Manhattan for the Mrs.
We won’t get that.
Colorado is a better example.
Built through the draft :
Landeskog (2011)
MacKinnon (2013)
Rantanen (2015)
Makar (2017)
@@moviestoshare813 you got my point wrong it was just to say that i don’t want to rush into he rebuild lol of course their is better examples then the rangers but still …
No this is how the habs become contenders and it’s the only way, they will never be contenders carrying Anderson, Gallagher and dvoraks contract , that 16.7 millions in cap space . Once they get rid of those contracts then they’ll have the freedom to pull affective trades and they have plenty of assets to trade.
Expectations are different player to player there stu. Slaf played with shit players to start the season with no pp time.
A and B for Slaf and a C for Cole... riiiiight!
Fr the Kid proved he's more than just a goal scorer and set new career highs in goals and assists and so many talk like cole regressed this year... talk about high expectations
I love Stu (we share a last name!) but I completely disagree with the hot take. Cole should get a B+
Matheson is a defenseman... you can't give him an A when he's been the worst defenseman defensively all year. He shouldn't have the worst plus minus differential with a bunch of rookie/yound defenseman. At the end of the day if you score 4 goals and you give up 5 you lose.
He plays 30mins a night.
And is on the ice
EVERY. SINGLE. TIME
they trail by a goal late in the 3rd…
which means he gets a minus for all those empty net goals from the opposing team in these situations
Failure broadcast.
Suzuki A+
Slaf A
But Caufield gets a C
Caufield became better rounded, passing and d a good year developmentally, helped his live mates reach career highs while getting career highs himself…
Cowan is a joke
