Demidov will likely become an NHL star, but in hard fought playoff games, players like Lindstrom and Iginla might be just as important or possibly even better than him. Playoffs are usually all about determination, talent and "size" . Montreal does not need to trade up in this draft; instead, they should try very hard to get another pick between 10th to 15th where they could get another high end prospect...like Catton, Eiserman, Seneke, Greentree and even Connelly. That would really complete their top6 for the futur.
You don't know who will become good. Nothing is a sure bet this is why we need to depend on Hughes and not us behind monitors / phones.
@@oasisbeyond I totally agree with what you are saying. Indeed, they know much more than all of us...but I was only giving an opinion like most of us are doing here !!!
Draft what you need during a rebuild? The 1st line is set. Habs need to fix RW on the 2nd line, for the future. That's why Sennecke is on the table, a physical power forward with great hands and IQ who would be another Slaf or better. They also have room for another high end right defence. Those are the two roster positions waiting to be filled and will likely have priority at the draft.
Atm Roy projects to the 3rd line. The 4th line projection is Xhekaj, Beck & Tuch which could become an elite 4th line. After this draft, either 2nd line RW or RD will remain with 2 spots left on the 3rd line. Then the rebuild roster is complete and becomes a matter of tweaking. Xhekaj is also a potential centre. We still have Evans & Dvorak. So the big 2nd line winger is actually what they need.
I'd almost rather Senecke over Lindstrom or Demidov. It would be sweet to grab 2 of them. Maybe swing a huge trade or series of trades to aquire the 6th as well.
@@filterlessbear9250 I'd be stuck if both Sennecke and Lindstrom were available at #5. It could happen because Ducks, Hawks & Jackets all need the high end RD, badly. I think I'd have to look ahead to 2025, to help decide. Linsdtrom would upset what is already in place. Sennecke wouldn't. Habs have Calgary's 1st pick in 2025 and Flames are picking 9th this year. So there is a chance the habs could have 2 picks in the top 10 in 2025. Habs aren't ready for a push up the standings. The rebuild is about to shift from acquisitions to developing rookies. They are going to get even younger, for a while.
Habs4Life all day all night, forever
They could also draft a RD if there is a big difference btw the forwards available. They could trade that RD in the future for a top 6 forward better than the ones available at this year's draft.
That one more year of junior for Lindstrom is gonna be on a VERY dominant Tigers team, too. He’ll be unbelievable and he still won’t lead the team in scoring next season. So a Mem Cup then off to the Habs sounds pretty great!!
Iginla is the youngest player in the draft of all the top 15. He will be 18 in August. That is important as well. Tij gonna kill it next year!
just for perspetive the iihf and olympics are huge in slovakia, the bronze mela game in olypmics where we won bronze with slaf, literary set the viewing record
I feel Matt is more passionate about football than he is about hockey / the Habs.
Maybe he should look for an opening on a Football podcast.
His passion would probably be better fulfilled than doing a hockey podcast
If Demidov and Lindstrom are gone at five they should grab Senecke, size, hands, aggression, he's easily the top six forward we need! You cant trade for these guy's, take him and watch him dominate the OHL next year! The guy is built for the playoffs!
Imagine going to Nashville and being mad that country music is being played in all the bars
"if they played like that for 8 or 9 years..." Bruh, we had ten years of Bergie inconsistency.
Doesn't Lindstrom have a chronic back injury?
Habs trade prospects to move their second first round pick up to get 2 of Lindstrom / Iginla / Senneke!
YASS !!!!
Sennecke is IN. SANE !!!!
How about we trust their management and scouts since they see these players in person, they talk to the players, they have insights that we don't, as most of us are going off of second or third hand information.
We will see how St. Louis handles things when winning is the main objective. 3 straight bottom 5 finish. I could do that.
I think that’s a reasonable question. He’s been the right coach for a rebuilding team, but it’s yet to be seen how he performs with a contention worthy roster.
They say he’s not a team player in Medicine Hat
Who is they?
Is Lindstrom healthy?
Why is Montreal media & fans OBSESSED with Toronto???
Because the national media crams the Leafs down everyone’s throat.
Biggest mistake the Leafs made was signing Tavares for 11 million per. I will always have a soft spot for JT for declining to simply meet with Habs management!
Nolan Smith is not an analyst for college football LOL
he’s on the eagles roster and expected to take a big leap forward this season
Montreal should trade assets for Demidov.
Here me out, its a big year for Ds. But skipping Demidov is hard press. Whereas trading for a guaranteed D man prospect plus a shot at the #1 D of a strong D year… that can be done for a team like Chicago that just drafted a Generational talent in Bedard. Two masside d players for a top talent in a year where Cellubrini is undisputed 1 st pick.
Yup !!!
MTL’s 5th OA pick + Mailloux
+ more if more is necessary
for CHI’s 2nd OA pick
Marner with his 11m contract is close to untradeable. Who would want him @11m??
Lindstom first will not be available at 5th , Demidov also, , the right pick would be Catton hands down !
Naw too small. Iggy
5.11 vs 6ft not much difference I prefer Catton than ingila I don’t really like him
@@tristangroulx5581
Catton is 5’10, not 5’11
He might even be 5’9 & a half 😅
and he’s like 165
He is TINY
Ir Mailloux, wifi, or even Hudson.
Trade 5th, 24th pick Beck Harris for Byfield. Suzuki Caulfield Slafkovsky Dach Byfield Newhook
Living in Nashville now, id prefer fellas that look like the guy on the left went somewhere else!
Don't people realize that once the Great One was traded EVERYONE is tradeable! Difference with Toronto and Montreal fan/players is Toronto players play like dogs and treated like gods in Montreal play like gods and are treated like dogs!
No Marner thx
Geez, what do people want (the guy on the left). 50 points in his first year is meh? At 20? You know, playing the contrarian does not make you sound like an expert.
I’m so sick of Matt always bringing every topic back to football, nobody cares this is a hockey podcast. Do you know anything about hockey? Please find someone new for Fridays next season
The Hebrew hammer is doing fine. The kid is learning the ropes.A good Co-host could help. How bout Knuckles Nilans,P.J Stock or P.K.Subban
Toronto tanked to get Matthew's and it failed
Marner would not get 100 points in Mtl, his line mates gave him those stats, stop being dumb
If the Habs had taken Michkov or Leonard or Benson last year, we would be shopping for a superstar defenceman this year instead of trying to save the rebuild. All of this year's top ten d-men are better than Reinbacker. It was a BAD move. Heck, trade Reinbacker to move up in the draft.
No one as dorky looking as this dude would like country music.
As annoying as Marinaro is, these fill in hosts are arguably worse. 💩
