I like the year review that Tony does. Habs head management wants to sift through the roster and figure out players ceiling ASAP. For example, Baron has talent but his caracter and defense habilities have limitations. Soon Bergevin contract mess will be resolved. So far, the new management did not do major bad decisions. Other teams dont want to help the Habs. The future will be made over the next two drafts and trades over the next 30 months.
I like Craig Button. He’s very knowledgeable and I’m astonished to see how well he knows the Habs. And his delivery is soooo good. But I wish he had a bit of Snake Boisvert in him. He’s not critical enough. When I hear him talk about Filip Mesar who’s developping real well and Emile Heineman as a potential 3 rd liner, I see a guy who doesn’t want to taint his relationship with Habs’ management and Habs’ fans.
At the 2023 draft, they needed a top line center but ended up with Reinbacher. In 2024, they would need a Celebrini or Lindstrom, but likely none of them will be available at 5th to 7th unless they win the lottery. Basiacally, they are in the same situations two drafts in a row !!!
Sudbury Wolves are finished TONY!! we had Gaugette Musty Davorsky sad week in the nickel city my friend... shitty goalies and we traded for overage D guys... those boys will excel in the NHL in the next few yrs...anyways love ur show TONY sick! Habs will be playoffs team in 2027 guarenteed!!!! !
i would have pick slafkovski even with out dach trade , just look at him go with suzuki i'll drag this on , but trading toffoli instead of anderson was a big mistake from the gordon/hughes back then who know maybe with monahan and toffoli in the team , we might have a shot at the playoff this year ! same with edmunsdon who got traded 7 month to a 1 years to late , all because is a great leader in the team , same bullshit comment we heard from anderson .
but if you dont make these trades you prob end up with lot better chances at Bedard and celebrini ? they buy up time and developmeent in a team that have no chances to win short term.. ok they are good players but why going for monahan and players that will affect your ranking..rebuild the good way.. now we have newhook and Reinbacher ? and late 1st from WIN FLA but lost all the big % on those phenom stars... Bedard Celebrini Fantilli Carlson Demidov Lindstrom... those late 1st better be home run lol poor 8.5% in 2024... Button say its a no brainer going for all these players in trades ... was this a report card or a glowing endorsement of everything gorton /hughes surely something could have been considered a mistake . i have a question : i was listening to what jf houle said a few days ago .he alluded to the fact he was mandated to play certain players . i.e.. norlinder is msl under that same mandate ? i.e anderson playing pp time even though hes bad ? does msl not have the freedom to construct his lineup as he pleases ?
It's hard to say. You would hope MSL is in control of His roster, but that control might not be total. I get the Anderson thing this year, but I won't buy it next year, and I think Marty would think the same. We have to move forward.
So far, the trades for Dach and Barron are yet "negative" moves by HuGo...Indeed, Dach still has not proven yet he can play a whole season while putting up 60 pts. His serious knee injury might seriously set his career backwards !!!
Hiring a coach with no experience is just plain dumb. Playing a 20 year old on the top line with 1st PP unit is also dumb. The fact everyone thinks the kid did well is very alarming. Anyone occupying those minutes playing with the 2 top point leaders on the team should be at 80 points minimum. Those 30 points are the difference in many 1 goal games. Hutson should be a forward. They hoarding draft choices for no reason. 4/10 is the grade
