That jump with that Superman style flying in the middle was fucking sick man
Agreed.
Totally
I Love a kona good to see the GMBN boys shredding them
Same, love kona
Nice bikes I have a process 153 absolutely love it
Being a smaller dude, I'm in the process of converting my 26" into a 26" rear, 27.5" front mullet. Excited to see how that turns out! I'm also rocking a corona mullet irl...
I did that last Yr can't complain bike is better than it was buying new 27.5 dh 200mm forks wasn't a fun part of the upgrade đ
@@vtecmossy i'm doing that on my sons bike, great way to give older bikes more life !
Doing the same to my rig
I have this setup on my two bikes, works great. First one is demo 7 with 27.5+ lyrik, second one is HT dirt/trail bike. I would recommend this to anyone. You can build very capable bike for vely low price.
Good idea, especially for younger riders it would help a lot
I want to hear Blakes "welcome back u beautiful people!"
Always enjoy watching Neil and Blake together, as a duo they're fantastic presenters, fun but also informative (kinda!)
I have a mullet on my bike and I love it. You can toss it around and get your steez on. I also have a Mullet hair cut. I call it the double mullet.
savage
Just got to say that the camerawork in your more recent videos is awesome and same with the music. Good work.
isn't a mullet haircut short on the front, long on the rear... so logically that bike should be called a reverse mullet right...
Yes I have been thinking that too. Whoever came up with it wasnât too clever
Should be called a fringe đ
I can see your point, but itâs not meant to be taken in the physical sense. It comes from the mullet saying âBusiness up front, party out the backâ. The 29 is the business, and the 27.5 is the party!
Could be because of the saying 'Business in the front, party in the back'
Shorty long back
As you say business in the front and party in the back
does that make 29ers business in the front and business in the back? đ
i was thinking that then i saw thisđđ
Like my hairstyle đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Same here bro
That's what she said
Wow. Kona featuring on GMBN! Wonders never cease đ€đŒđ
Just watched this eating a massive bowl of âshrediesâ
Where is mullet Blake and his glorious hair?
Forget the bikes, you two are just so much fun to watch. What skills. Blakeâs âSuperman!!!â Awesome.
I love the Kona a lot. I still have my Kona Entourage, love it.... Do more shows with Kona... Love their bikes a lot!!! By the way... Mullet for ever!!!
When the presenting is as smooth as the riding... great job! Very entertaining!
L9ve these two presenters and when they work together. Always fun informative videos...i am growing to like my 29er but am considering the mullet.
Neil and Blake are legends. So good to watch every vid they made. Keep rockin Guys!
I threw a 29" front wheel on my Bronson (w/150mm 29er fork) & REALLY like it. The 29" front tire has great grip & rolls over small stuff better. The 27.5" in back means shorter rear end & better bum clearance. Might not be as fast as full 29", but for me, it's more fun.
I definitely thought Neil had settled into the more trail/XC role at GMBN, but then these last few videos he has just come out absolutely shredding! What a rider, great job.
For the unskilled (me) âwhich one looks nicer?â
Great vid guys! This one made me super stoked!
Man you guys are really good riders! Well done
such great edits and riding. this channel rocks
finally kona my favourite brand
That jump trick slo mo @9:42 is sooooo cool
Letâs go this video is finally out
Those konas look sooo good
This is a BANGIN edit: superb camera work, nice composition...... well done GMBN!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have the original mullet! The Trek 69er itâs great bike and really fun to ride. It feels like a bmx bike on the trails.
Mullet = business up front & party out back.
Converted my sons Trance x0 29er to a mullet, made it so much more stable and fun to ride. And more importantly he loves it and stopped trying to steal my Reign.
I'm converting a 26 inch RR9.1, putting a 27,5 on the front , going mullet gives older bikes new life. Good for rolling over stuff!
I converted my old 26â GT Comp iDrive, been running a 27.5 front end for a couple of months now and totally love it đ
Great filming and riding as always.
I am fortunate enough to have both and love both :) I do tend to find I ride the mullet more though just because I ride tighter trails :)
I have my Specialized Fatboy also set up like a kind of a "mullet" by using 4.9 at the front and 4.0 at the rear - the almost one inch difference in width makes also a noticable difference in diameter.
Got my Specialized Status 2021 coming soon. All out mullet ;)
Hell they got skills, Blake is on fire. Great video đ
I just got my 2021 specialized status and Iâm loving it!
Iâve been thinking of buying it. Is it a fun shredie for enduro?
What do you use it for? I want a cheap (well, by mtb standards), pre-mulleted, enduro bike... Does it supply that?
I got mine today Iâll come back after my ride and tell you guys how it was
@@nikolaus2011 well?
@@Aljo77 itâs really heavy but itâs an absolute dream to ride
Pure xc rider here so true 29er for me, but mullet bikes have always been super interesting to me.
As a shortish fellow mulleted my 29 al ltd Capra and just love it. Does everything I need it to.
How does it climb?
Climbs really well for a 170mm travel bike.
U guys are gods, since injury I dont have balls to ride like i used to which was below average anyway. Camt imagine the thrill and satisfaction of what yu achieve
Epic vid guys đ€
an additional benefit of that smaller wheel in the back will help on steep climbs. Ran a surly 1x1 10 years ago with a 29 upfront and 650B in the rear. It would climb like a billy goat
Killer video guys, you beautiful people!!!!
Loving the mullet haibike allmtn 3 no regrets gives more confidence on steep descent more playfully and forgiving.
new video, Blake gets a mullet
ever think of trying a 26 on the rear and before anyone asks why, I say why not.
watch crank ground clearance and bb height đ€
you should compare in the same chainstay setting. Betcha long mullet is king!
oh and when did Neil learn tricks? looking good!
Nice vide keep making them
Just converted my Commencal META Hardtail to a 29/27.5 mullet! Game changer for the hardtail riders!! The thing is a beast now!
May I asked tyres width and fork travel? I have the same projectđ thanks!
I'm also building up one and would love some feedback as to how it rides as well. I was thinking about trying to run a 27.5x2.6 or 2.8 for the rear. I've got 29x2.4s for the main wheel set
@@georgesa.videau8332 Sweet! đ Iâm running a 2.6 maxxis dissector 27.5 rear, and a 2.5 maxxis assegai 29 on the front. Previously with my 27.5 set up, I ran a fox factory fork and whist the bike runs a 160mm standard travel, I changed out the air spring to a 170mm and run a bit more sag. You have to remember that you lose head angle on a hardtail as the suspension compresses. Whereas on a full suspension bike, both front and back sag together so the angle remains the same. This is why I run more travel at the front. With the 29 set up at the front, I have changed out my air spring to a 150, but only yesterday I put a 160 back in and Iâm trialling it out today. As far as how the thing rides, this has been the most significant upgrade I have done to date. As you know with hardtails we rely on the front end so much, this allows me to hit much bigger drops and rocky sections, with a heap more stability. The bike is still able to jump pretty good as well. I hope that helps.

@@danfarmer_photo Very much appreciated Daniel. Same idea about the tyres (27.5 x2.6 rear, 29X2.4/5 front) but I had not yet decide about the fork travel. Was leaning toward the standard 29 set up (150mm) but I understand and like your (+ sag) option. Thank you!
i had mulleted my yeti sb6c for the past 2 years
and have just ordered an new set of forks and front wheel to go back.
its definately faster for decents but not as good for climbing, tho that might change if the bikes a dedicated mullet
Like a week ago i finally switched from 26er to 27.5 and already behind... Well... That is the bike industry fer ye'
Sometimes I forget how crazy good these two ride.
Siiiiiick sound tracks!!
I just got a 27.5 front for my 26" bike and I'm yet to try that. It's not a big difference, but hopefully it's just a little bit nicer. All other ideas would cost me more, to the extent that buying a newer bike would be much easier.... however, that isn't in the cards at the moment.
I have ridden a mullet ebike last year and it was awesome. But coming from my 26" that thing is huge! So it's not a real good comparison, they are literally worlds apart.
sick vid guys
Hoping for a game of BIKE soon lads
nice riding boys!
Everyone is trying a mullet bike (79er) for downhill, but I'm interested in a 79er hardtail trail bike. My local trails have a lot of elevation change and a lot of baby head rock embedded in hardpack dirt. I climb a lot. I ride a 29er and I think that a 27.5+ rear could be the ticket to a better ride. A mullet would be more spongey on the climbs, but possibly not so bad in a hardtail. And you still have that give from the plus size. And if you size your tires right you still have the improved roll-over of a 79er (compared to a safety bike setup).
Bike are just bike but yours skills are unstoppable đ đ
sick. Now i want a 29er.
So Iâm not going to talk about haircuts, for one reason I have no hair, and the other reason is this is it conversation about wheel sizes. I recently purchased a mullet lake for my new carbon Stumpy and borrowed the rear wheel from my Santa Cruz 5010. This bike is now a shredder. Itâs fun, itâs fast, and extremely playful. Iâm not certain how your times on the 2Niner were faster but either way itâs cool having options right! Thanks guys, all of you on the channel are freaking awesome! Including Anna
Blake is a BEAST!
Rode the old big hit back when that was a mullet with 26 at the front and 24 at the rear... It was horrible, the rear wheel just hung up on everything! It wasn't even playful because it weighed a ton. I quite like the idea of trying a modern big wheeled mullet though... I'm in the market for a new bike and can't decide between going for 29 or 27.5. I ride both 26 full sus and 29 hardtail at the moment and like things about both, but I haven't tried 27.5... too many choices these days!
Blake and Neil are awesome
I have a mullet bike and it rides like a dream
Trek 96er since 2009. Forward geo, yes. Low BB: yes. Light: Yes. Mullets for the 99% that ride for fun.
5:38 when dirtjumper try a bigger wheels haha
KONA!!!!!!!!!đ„đ„đ„đ„
The music 3 minutes in reminds me of soundgardenâs first album
I've had my Process X for about 6-7 weeks now and love it set up short wheel base 29er as I haven't found a chance to trial mullet yet (have to borrow a wheel) I'd be keen to find out Neil and Blake's honest unpaid opinion on the bike?
Nice to see a kona on the channel as I'm a kona lover
First song is outbreak for anyone who wants to know
do a review of the kona pls
It's great to see Neil doing afew stunts in the recent videos, will we see a flip at some point??
What brand pants are they wearing? I like the plain black look
how many bikes do you have? is there space in the garage for anything else?
Great Video!. Btw, did anyone here tried to put 29" wheel to a 27.5 rockshox gold GL fork? How does it go? and what size of 29"wheel should fit in? Thanks for answering.
I'm still riding a dinosaur 26" hardtail but I recently ditched the "light cross-country only" fork for a trail rated air fork. Even though I specifically chose the 26" option, it appears to be a 27.5" fork as there's just over an inch of vertical clearance for my tire. I have a friend that rides 27.5 so the next time we ride together, I'm going to try out his wheel and see what happens.
Watch out for clearance when the fork is bottomed out! Just let the air out to check.
@@yanduval7172 Good call. I hadn't thought of that. I suppose since my frame was designed with a 26" wheel in mind, that makes sense. Thank you.
@@yanduval7172 Just checked. There is nearly 3" of clearance from my 26" wheel when the fork is bottomed out. Plenty of room.
@@agrsk8r Great! I guess you mean clearance to the frame? I was more concerned about clearance to the suspension crown vs to the arch. On my bike, the clearance to the crown is smaller than to the arch, and I need to remove air from the fork to insure clearance, but I guess you are fine!
@@yanduval7172 I see. Just ran back and checked that as well. clearance to the crown is 1" vs 1-1/8" to the arch. I think it will still work as a 27.5 wheel should only ad 3/4 inches depending on the tire used. I'll definitely test this with the 27.5 wheel in place before I ride. Thank you for the clarification!
hi guys, i was wondering... will a 29er fork go well on a 26er size small frame with both 26er wheel set? or will it have a major issue? any idea.. advise about this setup?
Team Blake for life
The option to change the wheel base is just crazy. Never seen that before. And 15mm is quite a difference.
I've always considered the Mullet more to do with the rider of the bike than anything else. Everyone knows that if you want a more flickable bike 27.5 tends to more agile, but if you want more roll-over speed you want 29.
Unfortunately, for some smaller riders, even if you want the faster roll-over of 29ers, the rear wheel can get in the way on descents, necessitating 27.5. This is of course where the mullet comes in, allowing 29er front roll-over and 27.5 seat clearance (which is why the Mullet is rapidly replacing 27.5 on DH race bikes for riders under 5ft 6in, who were previously unable to rider 29)
If you're someone that can easily fit on a 29er, there's honestly not much point to the mullet bike, as if you want 29er speed you might as well go full 29er, and if you want 27.5 agility you should just get a 27.5.
We see that in this proven in this instance as well, because between the two options Blake prefers the mullet, but he's been very vocal in the past about his preference for 27.5.
It might be of benefit to me , Iâm a short legged long torso guy . Only 5 10 but ride a large to get the comfortable reach I like . But do get contact on descents with the back wheel on my 2020 nukeproof mega .Being eyeing off the new mega mullet
@@camwells9726 You sound like a textbook case for why 27.5 and Mullet bikes should still be readily available in size Large (you can argue against XL, but I've seen a few brands only offer up to Medium).
In you specific case, owning a Mega 290, we see another textbook case of why it's great when brands offer mullet conversion kits, be they new swingarms (like the Mega) or new linkages (e.g. Stumpy Evo), instead of requiring an entirely new frame (looking at you Canyon).
@@gpearce11 Iâve never ridden a mullet, so no idea how it affects any other areas of ride quality . But overall have a preference for 29 over 27.5 these days , but if you had asked me 3 years ago I probably would have said 27.5 :) .
I have a marlin 5 and I upgraded it a lot and I put 29 in the front and 26 in the rear and itâs stupid but fun
And how did you like Kona? Can you compare to Nukeproof Mega 290?
What would be really interesting is trying a 69er Mullet Bike with a 29 inch front and a 26 inch rear.
I've ridden a 69er for one season and that was pure fun. Much easier at corners and a tad better acceleration. Strongly recommend
I plan to mullet my YT Capra for downhill parks
Did anyone else lose their mind when Niel flew like superman?
Will put 29f on my ragley mbop 2020
To me, Blake always seemed like Mario and Neil Luigi... Of course I'm a younger brother though so I always preferred player 2 ;)
Cool video guys! The mullet bullet is victorious! However... I'll still rather have a hardtail âșđ»đș
What size bikes were these
What's the front mud gaurds?
im using mullet setup 26er rear and 27.5front i see the advantage of not OTBing easily hahah
Who else heard the music at 1:00 and expected to see some RC cars blasting up over the hill? đ
Raises BB height for us rock smackers. I'm probably going to mullet when I can afford to.
Yeah, I'm sick of pedal smacks too
9:24 The record player is having a bit of trouble
I have tried to ride 29ers but my legs are just too damn short for me to get it to work, it feels like i'm spending all my time riding buzzing my bum on the rear wheel and i absolutely hate it. on my 27.5 have i buzzed my bum a couple times but it haven't been much of an issue, it have happened less than 5 times during the time i have owned the bike which is over a year.
I personally think that a mullet would be the perfect bike for me, but i don't have the money to buy a new fork, a new wheel and a new tire unfortunately but i'm very happy with my 27.5 so i'm good
29 is so nice
What day did u go wind hill
