First RAM Review! 2020 Ram Power Wagon Detailed Review

- There are a lot of trucks with off-road capability and packages...but none quite like this 2020 Ram Power Wagon. The 2500 Power Wagon goes over the top with off-rad features to truly be a beast in the trenches. This isn't a Ford Raptor high speed gunner, but rather a tank that can rock climb, tackle big obstacles, and offer serious wheel articulation while being comfortable with some luxuries mixed in. Although it's technically a heavy duty truck, the Ram 2500 Power Wagon doesn't quite offer the HD capability that other normal HD trucks offer. Still, it's a beast.

*CORRECTION* The Tradesman trim can get the Power Wagon package - you don’t have to get the actual “Power Wagon” trim level to get the off road goodies.
First Ram review! I’m still working to get the rest of the brands like Subaru, BMW, Mercedes that I haven’t reviewed yet. Let me know what you want to see 👍
You cannot get all the same features from the factory.
@@bobdearborn3130 your can. I have one. A tradesmans with power wagon option. You don't get the leather seats and infotainment system but everything is the same
You can't suck and blow. You said you get all the same features except leather and infotainment then that means you don't get the same features
@@bobdearborn3130 leather and infotainment isn't what makes it a power wagon. You can get those options on a bighorn or Laramie. The winch, sway bars, suspension, axles is what makes it a power wagon. You can also buy stripped down power wagons that don't have the big enfotainment center
The most beautiful amazing truck I’ve ever seen 💙
So happy to see your reviews again!! And oh how I’ve missed those jeans🥰
Thanks Julie!
This is a beautiful truck. I love the color 😍. The interior is sweet. Fantastic review my friend 👏
Thank ya sir. I love it too! I appreciate it 😁👍
Great review, very detailed
Quality review. Thank you.
Thank you!
Well done review.
Thank you!
Thinking of getting a Ram Power Wagon pretty soon, thanks for the review. I'm probably going to factory order a new one once I decide exactly what specs I need. 💯🍻
Did you get your ordered Wagon? What options did you settle on? I just ordered a 24.
I have the 2019 PW and i fall more in love everyday
Liked the fact that you showed the whole adventure -including getting stuck :)
This is what David Vonderhaar has been driving instead of fixing Cold War!
Wow what a truck! Makes me want one. I found it ironic you were talking about heated seats and the steering wheel when it was 101 outside haha
I daily a 2019 PW and I love it so far. Very handsome truck.
What’s the mpg ? Beautiful truck man..
I put 35s on my 20 PW 13 mpg mixed driving
@@MrCN173 did you lift the PW for 35s any rubbing ?
@@Khaled-tx5xj absolutely not! 100% stock besides the bigger tires. I will say the wheels are a bit narrow and i feel wider 17" rims are in my PW future
@@MrCN173the narrow tires are actually better than wide ones. Find a CZcams video comparison. I ordered a 2024 PW and intend on installing 35s. Not wide.
I have a 23 power wagon and i absolutely love it and the brutish look is 👍
I just ordered a 2024 PW. Looking forward to this truck. What mods have you done? Good bad?
19:35 Yes, i totally agree, Ford took advantage of the electric steering from get go and have variable weight, just try quickly shake wheel in speed or on parking lot to feel the difference, even my fleet 14 f150 has it...while Ram or FCA still don't do it. I have both trucks and that's certainly one of the things i like on F150 over Rams, however the feel of maintaining stright seems easier in my 13 Ram over the 14 f150, maybe they improved it now
The transmission jolt is the hill brake assist holding the trans
How did you not get video of using the winch to get out?! Good video!
I just picked up a 21 power wagon. I had 2007 ram 1500. But needed a little more towing. For me the payload and towing is perfect I don't need the full capacity of a regular 3/4 ton. Things is nice as a daily driver. It's a nice fit between a 1500 and true heavy duty truck
I think all Trucks 1/2 - 1 ton need to all come stock with 1 inch bigger rotors and either 4 or 6 piston stock calipers. For the price that these trucks are going for now days.
That's the nature of the car industry these days. Fools w/ more money than sense driving the trend of getting less for more money.
Power wagon es una súper Camioneta es Perfecta tiene full estilo en todo ... RAM es RAM
Need 35 inch tall tires from the factory those 33 inch tall tires are way too small for the truck
Nahhh
Very nice
I really like the truck, but if I’m upgrading to a 2500 I want the payload and towing capacity.
...and yes, I understand why the payload and towing are reduced.
Then you understand that you can still tow and haul normal 2500 weights with it, it's more than capable.
@@starmc26 it may be capable, but should you exceed what it’s rated for?
@@ikepete yes, it's fine. It's only rated less because a combination of stock offroad tires, disconnecting swaybar, and linear coils instead of progressive. It's just a liability, legal reason, but many many owners boast that the truck is near impossible to overload. I own a 2021.
I wouldn’t exceed the rating provided by manufacturers. I’d take the PW ALL THE WAY to the maximum number without concern tho.
Buy the right truck for your needs
Yes yes looks like I will have to trade in my challenger for this.
😂🔥
Looking forward to see the review of the 2021 Ford Bronco 😂😂
Danilo Pineda can’t wait!
I’m gonna have a farm so I wanted to have a good work truck and this looks like a great option
Just found your channel. Looks like you’re just around the corner from me… small world. (I recognize your neighborhood and JK boulevard. I’m over by the golf course.) My son and I ride ATVs and dirt bikes and I’m thinking the power wagon makes the most sense to get us to camp sites and down logging roads while carrying toys. Any other suggestions that are also good for mountain terrain?
Do you on all of these cars or do people lend them to you? And with the steering wheel are you saying that it is too light? Also how good do you think it would be at pulling a trailer with a say mustang or charger
Want this exact truck
Will all the attention to detail is funny RAM missed the power tilt telescoping steering wheel. Since I'm at it, the missed out on the seat adjustment capability too. Two things Ford and GM still do much better with. At 6'4, the one thing I'd appreciate would be an upgrade option with added thigh support. Although trucks have the space, only full-size luxury cars and SUV offer that option.
Do they make the power wagon in single cab? Single cab short bed?
🔥🔥🔥
I got a 2016 ram rebel. Might add a color matching power wagon and trx to the driveway at some point 😂
Nice!
My dad has the same exact truck with same stickers
Very informative video...no idea why you didnt clean the truck before you shot the vid...I mean at least a quick drive through car wash????
I have 2014 ram big horn that upside down on. Want the power wagon so bad
Nolan in his natural habitat: a full-size pickup.
Haha 100% 😜😁😈
What’s your fuel economy like
can we put a snow plow on it or not
What kind of person is the power wagon aimed for?
The winch wouldn't fit with the diesel intercooler. That's another reason they don't offer the Cummins
If RAM updated the HD trucks to use the 1500's cab and bed I would consider one, but the current setup that uses the 4th gen cab and the 5th gen interior just doesn't look or feel right.
I keep seeing people say this but idk what the hell yall r talking about, you cannot tell the difference!!! i own a 2020 ram 1500 and ive looked at the 2500 the only dif i see from bighorn to bighorn laramie to laramie is the door pannel lower cubby and the steering wheel buttons. literally everything else looks the same. What differences r you so mad about?
@@aracecar4627 there is a definite difference. The cab on the 4th gen RAM trucks are physically smaller than the 5th gen trucks. They were able to fit the 5th gen interior into the 4th gen cab, but they kind of shoehorned it in there. One example of this is to look at the space between the rear view mirror and the top of the dash. On the 4th gen cab there is less space between the bottom of the mirror and the top of the dash as opposed to the 5th gen. Another example is the rear seat leg room and the flat rear floor in the 5th gen cabs versus the transmission hump in the 4th gen cabs. There is a definite difference between the two. The sunroof on the 2500s are also a single pane sunroof, because they use the 4th gen cab, whereas the 1500s are available with a dual pane sunroof, due to them using the new 5th gen cab.
Another lesser gripe is the RAM Box. The 1500 RAM trucks have a RAM Box that flows much better with the body lines of the 5th gen design. The 2500 trucks carry over the more curved RAM Box that doesn’t look as good with the 5th gen exterior. Again, not a huge deal, but worth mentioning.
A friend of mine was recently in the market for a new truck and we looked at both the RAM 1500 and the 2500. Sitting in them back-to-back the difference was glaring. It may not be obvious to you, but if you “keep seeing people say this” then there is clearly a difference that many people wish they would change.
Also, it’s not something I’m “mad” about, but I’m not going to buy a $70k truck and then have them turn around and update the cab the next year only to have me kicking myself for not waiting for the cab I prefer.
Here is a video that helps visualize some of these differences:

Hope this helps.
Can it plow?

Hi can you please do a BMW I would love to see that video please do it soon as possible thanks for uploading the videos I love the video a lot
تصميم ممتاز
You can get a sunroof with the power wagon
There is a rubber cup holder that fits in them doors that someone probably ganked! They fit 2 drinks
jrome m nice! My bad, thanks for letting me know 👍
Please, please, please tell me you did NOT engage the lockers in 4Hi in that mud pit? 🙏🙏🙏
Lockers are for use in 4Lo Rock Crawling situations ONLY 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
That’s correct lol, I didn’t have the lockers engaged while gunning it in 4hi. I turned them in occasionally in 4lo but never did high throttle or speed with them. I don’t think the front one even engages in 4hi if I remember right. Appreciate you stopping by 👍
If I were stuck I’d try everything esp locking diffs in both 4H & 4L
I have a feeling the price is going to go down on these in a few months.
What is that noise at 24:22 clicking sound when you got stuck ?
Good question and I have no idea lol. There were other people around while I was filming making noise and when I did this “voice over” for that part, I was outside so it could have come from anywhere but I don’t think it was the truck
Ok thanks and great review, one of the most detailed!
mike None thank you!
I have a 2017 power wagon and I'm seriously thinking about trading it in for a 2021
I've never been in a PW, but ive driven a 2015 Rebel and a 2020 Rebel and the interior is night and day.. Hard to believe you're in an American pickup truck
👊👊👊👊👊.........
Its called a mechanical 4 wheel drive system. They are much better and bulletproof. Last forever. Way better than shift on the fly electronic.
i hope the 2020 will be better
in reality the 2018 is better
So pretty much the power wagon is mostly for off roading not for towing...
Beautiful, but lost interest in towing capability and pay load. What a bummer!
Well, what do you expect on a best on class HD offroad truck?. They had to sacrifice towing and payload for better off-roading capabilities it might not tow heavy loads but the truck can be a fun toy to play offroad on the weekends.
@@7thkev519 you are right. So then I need something I can unhitch and have fun but also tow my toy hauler and toys. I'm shopping, my old gmc is good but its old and almost at 200k miles but still running. Any ideas ?? No fords btw lol
@@dev_IL666 how much does trailer weight and what are u putting on the trailer. If the trailer weighs around 6000 pounds then it should be fine. But if you're putting a pop-up camper then you need a different truck.
@@dev_IL666 well the thing is the ram power wagon is a truck for off-roading on the weekends, but it's not good when it comes to towing and payload. So yeah you do need another truck and you did say no ford so the only one I can recommend is the GMC Sierra 2500 it's the least offroad capable of the 3 HD trucks rams, Ford, GMC, the GMC Sierra AT4 has a locking differential but it activates by itself so you can't activate unless the system sees that one tire is spinning but also you can get the Duramax with the AT4 or a gas engine but the problem is that it's not offroad cable as the ford tremor or the ram. But the only truck that suits you is the ford tremor it's right in the middle it can and can go offroad but not enough to beat the ram but the choice is yours.
@@dev_IL666 I think the f 250 tremor can tow 15000 but its a ford...
Isso aí não é uma camionete tú pode me dizer qdo ela vai chegar aqui no Brasil eu sou Luiz Carlos Bazilio da Moro no Brasil em Presidente Prudente SP e qual seria o valor aqui no Brasil
Ram please bring back the extended cab?
Fix the audio bubba. Nice review other than that.
Thank you! I've unfortunately ran into an issue with two different mics that I use! Sorry about that!
Prime Autotainment - don’t slow down. It looks like you’re enjoying yourself and putting out quality videos.
I appreciate that!
Anyone else annoyed by the turn signal being on the whole time?
The orange parking lamps you mean, they're just reflectors? I got a 2020 Ram 2500 Big Horn Night Edition, with the optional LED Headlamps. The Turn Signals are right below the bottom DRL Eyebrow, and are only on when the turn signal is activated. The left or right Fog Lamps also turn on, one for each side, when the left or right indicator is activated as well; not to mention they also act as cornering lamps when turning the steering wheel left or right.
Not enough hp n torque. Needs more tow n payload capacity
Smh 60k?? I’ll take the Cummins Instead
How do yall even afford a truck like this.
6.4L.... 410hp and 429tq Power is lacking in comparison to 5.7L that has 395hp and 410tq. They should have left the power closer "450hp" to the srt version's at 485hp. Also find a way to add a center console not many people run with 3 peeps in the front anymore.
The 6.4 Hemi on the ram isn't meant to have high output power like the SRT. The 6.4 Hemi that is on the ram was specifically engineered to handle heavy loads and was built to get good fuel economy when towing, better reliability. Another reason why the 6.4 Hemi HD doesn't make more power because it has cooled EGR, heavier pistons, different cam, has the active intake and also has sodium-filled exhaust valves, tougher valve seat materials, aircraft-grade stainless steel exhaust gaskets and fasteners, and oil jets for cooling the pistons. All of that is meant for HEAVY DUTY purposes it has a greater broad torque on low RPMs for towing and accelerating. Here's a link if you need more information about 6.4 HEMI on the ram.

@@7thkev519 you're making too much sense
@@ryadhasanahmed5443 yeah probably went too far.
If you haven’t driven a classic power wagon you don’t know steering slop haha

Clean your truck. !
the truck is nice, not $70,000 nice
70000 wtf... lmaooooo
Nice but the interior already looks dated compared to whats coming 🤔
8.8 or 9.1 mph? Off-road or not that is terrible.
All of these factory "off road" vehicles are for people with more money than common sense. Spend 60k on a truck that is terrible off road. OR, buy a base 2500 Cummins for 40k, and put 5k into it, and itll be way better. Same with Rubicons. You can buy a base model for half the cost, put 5k-10k into it and be way better than a Rubicon. And still save money.
Even a tradesman 2500 with cummins starts at 55k. For 69k you can get a fairly well equipped power wagon and doesn't need any modifications to go off road. As far as payload and towing capacity of the cummins... Most people don't need that either to tow a 7000 lbs boat or trailer.
Next time clean the truck before you review it!
D Gibson I did. I showed it to you clean and dirty. Most of the b roll for the exterior it was washed.
