    Nice review. I have 25,000 miles on a 2017 Power Wagon. Best vehicle I have owned! Still no rattles of any kind. Incredibly quiet and comfortable on the freeway for long drives. Raised suspension, but still low enough to get into almost all parking garages. Purchased it for the towing capacity with the convenience of a gas engine. Don’t take it off road much, but like the thought that I can if the need arrises. My daughter drove it part of the time on our trip to Arizona for graduate school. She now drives a Toyota Rave 4, but tells me she wants to get a Power Wagon when she gets out of school. Not for off road, but for comfort on the freeway and the visibility of sitting up above other traffic. If you drive conservatively you can expect just over 15 mpg on long freeway trips. Don’t expect to get more than 13 mpg for general day to day use. I does have a 6.4 L Hemi, so sometimes it is only natural to ignore maximizing mpg. ;-)

    • @2dfx
      @2dfx Před 5 lety

      Supposedly the 8-speed in the 2019 helps get it a little more mpg. But the reality is that the 6.4L Hemi is a bit dated now.

    @OriginalTeddy Před 5 lety +59

    Sorry, Power Wagon hands down if we're talking about straight up off-road capability. Every time this debate comes up, someone will bring up that the Raptor finished the Baja 1000. And, yes... that is true.
    Instead of dismissing that, I'll give it credit where it's due. Despite being an awesome race, the Baja is somewhere in the middle of rally racing and off-roading. Kind of the best of both worlds without being the best at either. Baja trophy trucks are engineered more for speed and shock absorption over any type of hard core off-road performance, while still being capable of going off-road. Another fun fact is those trophy trucks most people picture when hearing the word Baja... are 2 wheel drive.
    If I wanted to fly over sand dunes and just open it up in the fields, the Raptor would be my choice between the two. But if I wanted to go through various terrain where my worries were more along the lines of "Think she'll make it?" as opposed to "How fast do you think she can make it?", I'd be jumping in the Power Wagon.

    Great review! I have a 2018 Powerwagon with around 12,000 miles on it. Ordered it with every option I wanted. Love every aspect on the way it rides and drives. I do like that the '18s have the shift arm vs. the knob. Although the new larger entertainment center seems to be the wave of the future, it does take away the dedicated buttons. The one complaint (sort of) that I have.....it is very difficult to change the oil filter cleanly. You have one ingress/egress path around the winch and sway bar components for the filter. Not crying over that one though. Awesome drive in the snow. Drove from Chicago to Breckenridge last winter through 400+ miles of blizzard in Nebraska and only needed 4 High for about 100 miles of it. Handled altitude like a beast....tons of power. Hands down the most capable stock vehicle you can buy.

    The Power Wagon makes the Rubicon look and feel like a toy off road. I own both and the Power Wagon feels like a military tank compared to my wife’s Rubicon. I have owned them all (including a Raptor) and nothing comes close to the Power Wagon. It’s more than the sum of its parts and makes technical trails feel effortless like a trip to the store. This is the truck for owners that demand the most capable off road rig money can buy. Everything else just wants to “look” like it’s a off road rig. Surprisingly, It actually rides really good on the highway at 75mph because of its off road suspension.

    I have the 2019 Ram Rebel 12 and I see there are a lot of differences in the new Powerwagon, and that they are still using the old cab from the previous generation Powerwagon. It’s a shame that they didn’t use the new cab that’s on the new Ram 1500, and it weird that the Ram 1500 is larger on the inside than the 2500 Powerwagon. Since it uses the old cab some things are still old like the back seat without a flat floor requiring a fold out self to make it flat, also the old steering wheel without telescoping and some older switch gear like the turn signals. You are also losing 3 inches of rear legroom in the backseat compared to the 1500 Crewcab.

It's great out on Race Point .

    Did Ram not think of a major problem with that unlock system? With the key inside the truck and you in the truck as well, if you lock it to get away from a hostile person, they can just walk up and put there hand behind the handle and unlock the truck and get in with you.

      I bought a loaded 15 ram crewcab 4x4 sport back in 14 & it had issues the day I got it,the led light in the overhead console did not work but the salesman assured me it would be fixed,it never was.
      The sunroof had little or no grease & was like metal on metal,they said it was normal although no other ram on the lot sounded this way & it's was very audible/noticeable.
      Than I found a spot of rust the size of a golf ball on the front fender,I thought it was a leaf stuck in that little piece of plastic that's supposed to protect the rocker from rocks being kicked up by the tire.
      They couldn't deny that one & scheduled it to be repaired & than all my headlights & fog lights would get severe condensation in them,you know the really cool looking blacked out projection style ones & then one day I was standing in the bed & looked at my beds floor & could see my driveway & it had a factory spray in liner,so imagine how big that gap must have been since even that didn't close it.
      The feather that broke my back was when it was hunting season/fall & I had my truck parked outside & it had rained for 4 days straight & I went to get something from the rear passenger part of the truck (I kept my hunting gear in there & I placed my hand on the never even sat in leather seat to brace myself & the whole seat was completely soaked & after inspecting the area I noticed everything was wet.
      After taking it to the dealer to be accessed they found that the gasket for the 3rd brake light/cargo light was folded when installed at the factory causing a huge gap & water was coming in by the cup fulls.
      I figured that they would strip the interior & replace the effected components after drying it out but no,they wanted to simply air it out.
      I said F you let me take one of your personal $52,000+ vehicles that has a leather interior that hasn't even been used as seating 1 time & let me run a water hose in it & than we'll just let it air out.
      Needless to say I traded that truck at 4,700 miles on a new loaded powerstroke f250 that never gave me 1 single problem ever.
