    The kid is Pete Willis...their original guitarist. Phil replaced him. This video is a mash up from the original video and live footage

    The "kid" was guitarist, and founder, of Def Leppard, Pete Willis, who was 21 at the time. He's 5' 4" tall, but has a big personality. If you watch the original 1981 video, you will see him continue his walk to the front of the stage, and launch into his solo. I got to see the High 'n' Dry tour in Boston, and it was my second concert. They were my favorite band, and Pete was my favorite band member. He has never had a reunion with them, and even had to fight to get the royalties for all the songs he wrote that Joe Elliott decided should go to his replacement, Phil Collen. You can see a Polaroid picture of Pete being crushed through a grate in the "Photograph" video, which I'm sure was Joe's idea. Not only did Pete get his royalty rights back, but they had to pay him for being an owner of the name, Def Leppard, even to this day, I believe. It's funny that you guys view them as wholesome, because they are known to have been pretty raunchy, especially on the Hysteria tour. They were constantly running beneath the stage to have sex with groupies. And really listen to the lyrics to "Let It Go". It's my favorite song by them, but my friend and I were laughing our asses off when we realized what they were singing about back in our teens. Good times! 😁Pete has been in other bands, such as Roadhouse, so check them out. Something I found out not too long ago, is that "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott of Pantera listed Pete Willis as one of his primary influences. 🤘💖

    High N Dry is a great rock n roll album. Their next album was Pyromania( which we all know took them to another level)which was more polished and studio sounding. This one though was yes, more AC/DC style. Straight rock but with great harmonies which gives it the Def Lep signature style. Bringing on the Heartache, Mirror Mirror, Let it Go are some of my favorites from this album

    This has to be from 2 different performances because part of that video featured Pete Willis, and part of it was Phil collen, his replacement. Pete unfortunately drank and did drugs most of the time. Actually it was producer mutt Lang who made joe elliott fire Pete. It was probably a decision the whole band agreed with. As far as fighting about royalties I don't know, but when inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in 2019, Joe spoke the world of pete,and credited him tirelessly about him being so instrumental to the band's earlier success, plusses it was Pete on the first 3 albums, he just never appeared in any video's after 1982, as Phil wasn't on the Pyromania album, but was hired in time to play in all the videos. It would be hard to try to fight royalties to Pete because he was on their first 3 albums, and would have to paid for the royalties I think. One thing I know that is absolutely is not true in the comments is that they owed or bought the name of the band to Pete. Joe elliott came up with the name of the band when he was in class in high school, when he was still only dreaming of being in a band some day!

    I also would suggest doing “Song and Emotion” from Tesla : A tribute song to Steve Clark who passed away 31 years ago. Doesn’t seem that long.

    on this mv they have Phil doing the lead solo when Steve Clark was the one who did the original while Pete Willis was the rythm.

      @markvignati6413 Před 2 lety +2

      No, that's not right. Pete Willis did the solo on the original song.

      @@markvignati6413 Correct, Willis did that solo. Didn’t realize that Phil replaced Pete. So now I realize Campbell was Clarks replacement. Man they must have smoked having Clark and Collin together for that time period. RIP Clark. Passed away 30 years ago this past year.

      @@generoberts9151 Oh yeah. The Dortmund '83 live vid is on here and it was Phil's first tour with the band - they were ON FIRE! Another great bootleg (audio only) you can find here on YT is the soundboard of them live at the LA Forum 1983.
