I am not a certified Maserati Technician. I am just a backyard mechanic with enough confidence in my skills and having done the necessary research to perform regular maintenance and repairs on my 2014 Maserati Ghibli SQ4 myself and post the videos on youtube. With the exception of engine oil changes, I had never before performed any the services or repairs on a Maserati Ghibli SQ4 you see in my videos until then. It was my first time. If I seem like I am trying to look like an expert, it is wholy unintentional because I admit I am not. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Thanks for creating an honest review of your Ghibli. I am looking for one of these at the moment and most of the videos on CZcams are clickbait videos from people that have only experienced one for an hour or so, and are only interested in saying how bad something is to get the maximum number of views. It is very helpful to find someone that has owned one for several years. I love the exterior and internal looks of the Ghibli, and the sound is awsome. Your car looks amazing.
Glad I could help!
She still looks good James. 👍🏽 💪🏾
Thanks, James!
Great advice!
Thanks for this I'm looking at a 2014 that has all the things i want tomorrow and with good mileage so i really appreciate this info.
Glad I could help. Did you get it?
I did! 2017 Ghibli sq4@@JamesDIYGarage
If u haven’t gotten one yet Check car gurus that were in had my luck and there very cheap
Ty for all the tips provided on your channel. Appears to be jerks now showing up in the comments but im sure almost all of your viewers appreciate you. Thanks James!
Great videos, great car! You should make more videos, something like driving POV videos, etc.
Thx for this
Your engine bay is looking great! I never had the desire to keep my engine bays clean. The exterior of my car IS kept super nice however. lol Back in May I sold my 2014 Ghibli SQ4 that also I owned for 6 years as well. It had 109,XXX miles on it. I only sold it because I figured big dollar repairs might be in my future so I unloaded it. It was maintenanced beyond what a typical car would usually get thanks to your videos!
Right on! Thank you for watching.
I have no plans to sell mine.
How much did you sell it for if you don’t mind me asking
@@michaelcrosby8643 $15,000
Really like your video
nice video thanks, where did you get that spoiler if you can share the link please I'm looking for one like that for my baby too,, loool
I got mine on Ebay. Link is no longer valid.
Hi James, thank.younfkr the video, there is sooooo many negative stories out about the Masarati. Can you please let me know how many issues you've had, also what they were? I'm thinking of getting one, but having to do alot of research. What engine size do you have and is it Diesel or Petrol? Are you able to do a video of the exhaust sound?
Many thanks 👍🏽😎
I have videos on all the things that went wrong with my car. We don't have diesels here in US.
Noise is typically from the goofy Ferrari lower shock bushings
Yea, I just ignore it. I know my suspension is tight.
Did you ever get the direct injection cleaned? I've got a 2017 with 45k on it.
Thanks James, your videos helped me decide on this and it's been 2 years of fun!
If you mean clean the carbon on the intake valves then yes, I have a video on it. If you mean the injectors themselves, then no, have not needed to. I only use 91 Octane fuel.
Your car looks great. I have a 15 S Q4 that I have been thinking about getting rid of but with interest rates on car loans being so high, I decided to keep it for now. I recently purchased year 9 of the extra 10 Maserati warranty to cover the powertrain. Do you ever have anxiety about owning yours out of warranty?
I will be honest, 5 years ago yes, a little. But as time went on that worry diminished. My car has been wonderfully faithful and reliable to me.
@JamesDIYGarage Glad to hear. Hopefully, mine treats me the same. If not, I have the warranty in my back pocket. Best of luck with yours.
dont know anyone in the right mind who would own a maserati for 6 years but good on you. you achieved something. just not sure what 🤣
Thanks for the video! What's your honest opinion for an 18 yr old looking to buy one. I personally love the look and sound of them, but I am on the fence because I have seen some talk about reliability issues. I can afford one, but I am just worried about having to spend a lot on repairs in the future, especially as I am going to college soon and won't have a ton of extra money. Thanks again!
It's just like any used car. Reliability is going to depend on how it was cared for by the previous owners, not the make/model. Mine has 97K miles on it. But I take great care of it.
When they brak down they are expensive unless you know a mechanic who knows about them and is willing to do the labor for cheap, the insurance is high, maybe not everyone will have high Insurance but mine is and I have nothing on my record at all, it has given me some problems but nothing too major, but unless you have the time and money it's OK, but if you don't I wouldn't recommend it, I love mine, I like the attention it gets!!😂
hey james any lonk for that trunk carbon lip i look many but i like this one you have and cannot find it if you kindly put the link for itto buy please ,,,, thanks
Link is not valid anymore. I got it on Ebay.
So is the front suspension sound just a natural thing or is it something that will need replaced? And I’ve heard a lot about there being electrical issues that mess up Rpms what’s your take on that? And also obviously yours is a v6 model do u have any knowledge of the v8 model anything that could help me make the choice other then gas 💀
Sorry, no experience with the v8 version.
Friends - HUGE Maserati fan…check out the Ghibli 334 - fastest sedan in the world…
how much did you buy it for and what was the average cost of having this car per year (withous gas because i only drive about 5000km/year) :) ? Thanx.
I have videos explaining all that. Please watch them.
Hey James I really like the channel! I'm Al and am interested in buying a Maserati Ghibli SQ4. I have been learning and searching for the car I want for 2 months already. Weather to buy from a Maserati dealer or like Carvana I'm still on the fence. Anyway I have a question. We live in Florida which is a 1 license plate state. I'v seen a few cars I really liked however they had the plastic shroud attached to the front facade of the car like yours is, so I lost interest in them. Does your plastic shroud come off without damage, or did someone use zap screws and drilled them into the lower bumper? I'm Just concerned that if I did buy a car with the plastic bracket I would see holes in the front bumper area. Please let me know your thoughts, respectfully Al,
Mine has a removable license plate mount, there are no visible screw holes. It is mounted to the p
Bottom of the bumper, has a spring loaded lock that keeps it in place. Pull the ring on the lock and it slides out. I had my bumper refinished and the screw holes repaired due to excessive rock chip damage.
But to answer your question, most will be screwed into the front bumper and removing it would leave visible screw holes. You could always have your front bumper refinished also.
Yours is beautiful, here in cali I see these once in a blue moon .
Buying a Maserati Ghibli Base 2014 for $12k with 55k miles , for insurance is $300 (my aunt sells cars whole sale after fixing up) has some chips on the grill and some scratches on rear bumper and side back door I’ll have to fix . But looks good. Only worried about maintenance I’ll probably learn to do my own oil change I hope it’s not difficult. Will get bottom lip for scratches on bottom of the car front under bumper
Will be driving 60miles a day, is it hard dangers going over dips and in even roads lots of those by my job?
Any tips are welcome!
Be sure to take a peak under the oil fill cap. If you see a yellow to brownish varnish under there, I would not buy the car.
I have 3 oil change videos and many other
Great cars fix it your self save shit ton need buy a diagnostic scan tool reset oil light ect save 1000s
Still looks great
Hello sir. I'm planning on buying a 2014 or 2015 Ghibli. My question is, if you maintain the car regularly and took care of it, you won’t face any major problems in the engine or transmission etc. ? Will it be reliable if you took care of it? Thanks sir.
Depends on how well it was maintained by the previous owners. Check maintenance history before you buy. Having said that, mine had a good maintenance history, and I have regularly serviced the oil and oil filter every 5k miles. My Ghibli now has 99k miles on it and it runs like new. If you watch all my videos you will see what I had to do to keep her running like new.
Will you buy another 1 in the future?
Hope not, I love the one I have. If this is totaled then yes, I will.
Have a chance to purchase a 2014 q4 s. 7k dollars for the car. It has 71k miles in it. What do you think?
For $7K? There is something wrong with it. Don't get it unless you want a money pit project car.
Where to buy Maserati nerissimo ? Which site ? I searched in some sites but was sold out.
Sorry, I don't know what that is.

Hi
Hello.
Genuine leather is also fake leather buddy 🙄 what you mean @8:15 is Plastic
You an expert in that area?
My Insurance is high lol😅
Pay to play :) Mine is higher than my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee and my Maserati is older by 3 years.
How much is insurance?
@@dreday1062000 That depends on several factors such as location, insurance company, age, driving record etc. I am 64 years old so I pay less if you are younger than me.
Beautiful car aside from the teenage / mid life crisis visual mods
Dude has no idea what hes talking about half the time. Seems like a nice fellow tho and i appreciate his admiration for his vehicle
Please enlighten me. But 1st back up your statements with your expertise in this area. Do you even own one?
extra more than 80 lbs . sun glasses and comic head cover , bueahahahahahha Ghibli is OK
I found almost no value in watching this video.
Most will, some wont, so what! But thanks for watching' :)
Hi James I had the 2015 Maserati Q4. But the AC on the passenger side not working. It’s only came out hot air. I need some help
Its like any other car, an indication of low AC refrigerant. You might have a leak somewhere
There is a software update that may fix that. I had the same issue on mine. A software update fixed mine. Been good since.
