If you get a car just to protect the image of being successful you failed miserably. Get the car because you want it, because you love the sound or the handling or something about it you can’t get anywhere else. In other words care what YOU think not what others think

    A few corrections -
    1. The suspension is the same as it was for my14, nothing changed. The car you're testing has some kind of aftermarket suspension as it's lowered.
    2. The materials are the same as they were for my14, nothing changed.
    3. The "comfort" seats are the same as they were for my14, nothing changed. They added a new type of optional "sport" seat, but the car you tested doesn't have them.
    4. The "gap" in the door panels is there by design, Ferrari have them, Alfa Romeos have them, it's the way they design the doors, it's not a flaw.
    5. The horrible wheel gap is another Italian "quirk". Look at a Ferrari. They do it for aerodynamic purposes.
The problem with the Ghibli is that is VERY spec dependent. An entry level Ghibli simply can't compare to a fully decked out one with all options ticked (premium leather, alcantara, carbon, 21" rims), it's probably the car where you can see the biggest difference between specs.
I don't think a car that's been out for 4 years it's "too new to tell if it's reliable or not". All the flaws have been addressed by the recall campaigns and the car itself proved to be very reliable; expensive to repair as any Italian, but reliable.
    Good review, tho.

As 2018 euro sedans go in this catagory, I'd:
    Fuck the Maserati
    Marry the Benz
    Kill the bimmer.
Meaning, I'd lease a Maserati for no longer than 18mos, buy the Benz, and skip the Bimmer. And this is based on resell value and reliability, not favoritism.

This car is actually deceptively good for value if you decide to purchase it used. Because of the mostly negative reviews for the 2014 launch model and a general distrust among American consumers for Italian reliability, the depreciation on this car is insanely high.
In 2022, I can get a used 2019 model (which is nearly identical to the 2022 model), with under 20 K miles for ~ 50K.
Now consider a brand new C-Class optioned moderately would cost you 65K and that this car is actually somewhere in between an E and an S class in terms of size. Also it's considerably faster than the C-Class (or E-class). I believe real world tests are putting it at under 5 second 0-60, whereas the new C-Class is in the 6 second range. Not to mention the sound of that V6.
Also don't forget this is a MASERATI. That name evokes a certain emotion that the german brands simply don't. Sure the interiors in the german cars are generally nicer looking (note: not nicer quality), the tech is generally more updated, and they are generally more reliable. But this car is pure emotion, passion, and excitement.

The differences between them, beside the small design ones and the rear legroom, is that the Quattroporte has more options as standard and you can also get it with a V8 engine.

Also, my wife has a Mercedes and has had them for several years. When I drive it, I see everyone with them. BMW same issue. Common everyday vehicles. I buy for individualism. I don't want to see my car at every corner. Also about quality, I broke down a few years ago and bought a Merc AMG SL series car. SL55 it was. Worst car ever. It was in the shop more than it was in the garage. Bad gas mileage, hard ride. Nice looking, prestigious, but wow it was a pitifully unreliable vehicle. Just visit ant Merc or BMW service department on any Monday morning, get a cup of coffee, and listen to everyone berate their service advisor about how tired they are of coming there. Dont hate, inform yourself. All of these so called exotics break and they rape you to fix them. Drive what you like, I dont care about your car, only mine. I have a 2015 Ghibli and it is great. Good gas mileage, daily driver that everyone loves the way it loos and sounds. Get up get a cup of Java, cruise in to work. Happy its mine, at least it comes home every night not the service department.

All the moronic haters here for one are most likely born in the 80s and 90s and are clueless about a classy and old proven car manufacturer as Maserati are. Secondly there is absolutely nothing wrong with the buttons and the feel of the interior is perfectly fine. I have driven and owned cars worth over 500.000 and seen far worse build quality etc. For those who love the 10 a penny German 3 and do not like FCA are the haters. If you like the common as muck BMW, MERC and AUDI’s then Maserati is too classy and intelligent for you to handle.
I wish all these jealous wannabe couch potato critics would put up and shut up and enjoy appreciate the class that Maserati is and just enjoy your dull lame whatever cars that you own or drive and stop bitching because of the chip on your shoulder and following the idiot Doug D’s of this world as they are just Fake. Lee Hayes I salute your statement, aside the age fact: they're probably young teenagers who aren't able to even apply for a driver's licence and only base their opinions on what they see online - videos do not justify what a car is like in real life! And I've been in a Ghibli myself and I can confirm that the interior is a lovely place to be.
Heck, I'm only 18 and yet I indulge myself in rich car histories such as those from Maserati and Facel Vega. I completely understand the aura that Maserati represents, and the Ghibli is a lovely car which people are comparing it too much to incomparable cars.

Maserati Ghibli SQ4 is my favorite car that I’ve ever owned. My previous BMW and Mercedes were nice, no doubt, but didn’t bring me the pure joy of the Ghibli. It’s the perfect combination of elegance and sport in my opinion. The sound alone makes it addicting to drive. It’s funny how many people repeat the same hatred that they learned from Doug Demuro without ever personally experiencing this car. Name ANY car brand that doesn’t share parts. They ALL do lol. Even Bugatti, who is owned by Volkswagen. It’s just a dumb and tired argument. If you want to play with a computer while you’re trying to drive, stay with the Germans. If you want an unbelievable driving experience, get a Maserati.

Hey man! People hate this car because in 2014-15 these cars where admittedly a DISASTER... Especially since Doug Demuro TRASHED this car..... The later models are MUCH nicer and have resolved a ton of their previous issues.... 2017+ are not AS bad as they were...

Works like this : when you don’t have a good car, oh it’s time to change and upgrade your car, well ... when you do change your car ..... ohhh how did he / she get that car?
How he/ she is paying for it?
How is he/she going to maintain it ?
He/she should keep it simple !
So the list goes on and on and on ..................
They are plenty brands , like colors as well , you can’t satisfy every person out there , a real friend / family member will be soooo happy when they see you happy !!!
Bottom line is if you love it and like it , get it , buy it , lease it !!! Whatever works for you , the rest !!!! Fuck them all

Agree with your review of the ghibili and i like the way this video was done.
I would prefer this car over bmw and Mercedes. I think the look of the car is way cooler and unique. As of late i havent been feeling the designs of bmw and Mercedes
Though the car doesn't have a lot of tech on it. I THINK that is a good thing because that is less stuff that you have to worry about being maintenance nightmare down the road. I dont even use lane departure whenver i have it.
I just hope that since Chrysler/fiat own maserati that they don't turn this car into a piece of junk since all of their cars tend to be maintaince nightmares.

Ps car doesn’t charge if u just leave it on U have to drive for half hour and above 30mph to get back to its performance if ur battery dies on u ... and if u wanna jump start make sure u hook battery with a car and front hooks with jump start devices to start it back up but give about 5 mins

    Loved the video.
I test drove a Ghibli S at the begging of 2018, its not a bad car by no means. If you were to consider the car by itself in a vacuum its fairly decent. I think, for me, the main issue comes when you compare it with the rest of the cars on it's price point. A Ghibli base starts at the same price point of a Guilia Quatrofollio...which is just a better car all around, that is not an opinion...that is a fact. Also, the BMW M3 starts 7k cheaper than the Maserati. Same with the AMG, starts cheaper and you get more technology, more power and so on.
I would buy a Maserati Ghibli S, I would...I think it is a nice car for a daily driver but I would buy it used for 35k and I would add an extended warranty. At a starting price of 73k, it is simply the worse option in that price bracket by a long shot.

I wouldnt say people hate the car as such. I would say that a lot of people are not in favour of the Ghibli because of 2 reasons: the insane depriciation and the really poor build quality. It rattles everywhere after 2 years. Here in germany its moreover impossible to sell it again after some years...
