    That keyfob was designed to get you to the dealership so they can recommend additional “necessary parts” and probably a wheel balance to you.

    2018+ model is a huge improvement in overall quality and reliability, and this is a fact confirmed by all the expert reviews. And the exterior design charm and engine sound are still unique.
    It's funny how all the haters and envious people commenting on blogs and youtube disappear in real life when you actually meet people. All it gets is just compliments.

      HKMediaChicago - why would you make up such a random statement with no truth to it? Ed Ward - not to be rude but you are rather incorrect.. it’s a Mercedes lX platform that the 300 was supposed to possibly share the center of .. only what is referred to as the middle portion of the platform is shared whilst being engineered new otherwise. The entire suspension and drivetrain including all wheel drive system is all Maserati.. There is nothing Mercedes about the chassis used by the Ghibli. There are also no chassis parts sharing between the Ghibli with any Chrysler product. It’s designed by Centro Stile Maserati under Marco Tencone..
      Interior design by Giovanni Ribotta, the Italian chief exterior designer at Maserati.
      Carlo Potzianti is the chief engineer for the vehicle and has no affiliation with Chrysler except for them being the parent of Maserati and many other brands.
      The engine block is made in America-developed by Maserati, reportedly from the Pentastar V6 (but now unrecognizeable as such), and built at the Maranello Ferrari plant. It was completely designed and engineered by Maserati as well.
      Harold Westor has stated that “aside from
      Electronics there is nearly nothing from Chrysler in the new ghibli and Quattro models”
      I think you are confusing a company being parented by FCA and thinking that means the companies it owns all share the same engineers. They do not. Yes they absolutely share some basic parts across the board but what you are saying is the equivalent of calling a Lamborghini Volkswagen engineering which is a complete stretch. In reality though a Lamborghini does share a ton of literal audi components.. to say it’s engineered by them is silly. Also you are confusing the shared platform Diesel engine with the actual ghibli engine.. yes the diesel one is a shared platform but I’m pretty sure we weren’t talking about that engine.

      @@CgBrian you can kinda put two and two together just compare the infotainment system to any Chrysler product they all look the same just have their own logos on the screens. So if fiat owns Chrysler they most likely do the same thing as every other auto maker and that is sharing parts. It's way cheaper to just share parts then to design something different for every brand that's under the fiat brand etc. Some forums do have false info but in this case the other commenter is most likely right

    Great video on how to change the key fob... at the dealership! But, that's the new way: Even for change a simple battery you need to go to the dealer! About your issues, please don't say the car is falling apart because stupid people will use that to diminish the brand. The car have issues, ok, "Italian car" issues -:), it's normal because all the rest that matters in a car work fine and main components the engine, power train, suspension, all mechanicals work without issue. Man, it's a 3 year car!! It's a almost-new car in "my town". But beware with all the modern cars, I don't know how that will be while ageing.

    That is the most difficult Key Fob to change the battery... I currently have a new SQ4 with less than 1,000 miles and a Ferrari in my garage for Italian cars. Italian cars are completely different from other manufacturers. You have to be patient. Strange things happen... I like driving my Ghibli as a daily driver. Compare to what I experienced with older QP and Spyder, it is a nice ride that gives me a big smile. Let's see how it goes as I put some more miles....

    None of theses issues should happen on a 2-3 year old car. What happens when it gets older? 7 or so years? These minor issues seem to be an indicator of the overall quality. This is so sad, because the Ghibli would be my first choice if the quality would not be so low. Why doesnt Maserati understand that this is one of the main reasons people dont pic this car? No wonder they depreciate like hell. Not many people take the risk of owning a car with unpredictable reliability.

    • @bigmacdaddy1234
      @bigmacdaddy1234 Před 5 lety

      But if these are the only issues that are happening then it might not be so bad after all.

    • @lirumlarum8361
      @lirumlarum8361 Před 5 lety

      Yeah, but what if not? You cant sell the car like any other bmw or Merc if you feel you have to get rid of it... If you sell it, you will experience the loss of most of its original msrp. So better keep it, but then you mightnhave to live with an unreliable car... btw - the Ghiblis seem to have issues with the programming of the gearbox. The ZF is usually the best in class, but only on the Ghiblis people report to have issues... looks to me as if the programming is not state of the art eather... And also what a lot of people are reporting is that the car somehow doesnt feel tight... Also a sign that something just doesnt seem to be right... keep in mind - the ghibli is just a few years old... it should feel,like a new car!

    I have seen so many people complaining about severe quality issues in the internet, that the overall picture of this brand is somewhat like highly emotional but crappy... The thing is that when you buy a mercedes or bmw you would not expect something to happen, but with the Ghibli you do expect it, which makes you loose faith in the car. I dont care about how it corners around curves, or how fast it is, but I do care about reliability. I hate it when something rattles, and what I hate most is that feeling of lost faith... You start the car and wonder if its going to break down...

      You can get one now on Autotrader, with around 30k miles, for around $30,000.....less than half for what it sold for in 2014 brand new. With an exotic car that has parts taken from the Dodge Dart & Caravan and an interior door panel gap so large, people would expect it to depreciate dramatically.

    • @CgBrian
      @CgBrian Před 5 lety +1

      LouieGMDesign13- not a single part on this car came from a Dodge Dart.. and Chrysler had nothing to do aside from Fiat international owned.. stop making stuff up with zero factual basis..

    Jeez. I've spent some months investigating getting some sort of European car, after mostly Toyotas for 3 decades. I'd like a European, but there's no way I'm going to buy into this sort of poor quality, bad workmanship, high costs. Life's too short to waste it on dealership visits. Outside of maintenance, I've had 2 problems in 30 years: a speedo cable, and an alternator. And that's on cars aged 4-14 years.
    I'd have to keep a Toyota as backup, anyway, if a Euro joined the stable.

    WTF is with the amount of effort required to change that battery lol. Worries me seeing that as to how many other things are made overly difficult on car so I would be forced to pay a lot to have them do it.
    I wondered why these cars had fallen into the 30k or so price range as the other AWD Sedans like audis S4 I have been looking at. Looks and sounds so sexy, but I really don't want something with a headache.

    • @CgBrian
      @CgBrian Před 5 lety +2

      Drop in value is based on 3 major things.. I'll touch on Two..
      1-once the warranty ends on these cars the cost of anything that may go wrong is rather substantial.
      2-The maintence costs.. aka cost of ownership vs the cost of purchase, which for this particular car if you want dealer service , OEM equipment, etc.. Is also much higher

    • @imnuktam872
      @imnuktam872 Před 5 lety

      Maintenance costs definitely, especially as like this video there seemed to be a lot of things made overly difficult for no logical reason other than to discourage doing it yourself. And a lot of little things going wrong for most owners.
      I would say another reason is the fact that they saved money on the build by partnering with Chrysler for some of it, and many didn't like that. For me it just really felt like they didn't pay attention to detail as much as the should. Not being able to easily change a key fob battery or put a cd in while in park etc made me nervous how many other things were similar and made me pass on getting one. That and the extra 140 a month in insurance it would have cost over the s4 I went with.

    Nice video! Interesting to see the insides of a key fob. I do have a couple of questions though:
    if the battery was to die completely, can you start up the car by using that mechanical key?
    Secondly, I don’t normally like to give out criticism to people, but surely a quick check of the oil dipstick would’ve saved you all that time?

    • @RonsRides
      @RonsRides  Před 5 lety +1

      You can still start and enter the car if it died completely. Using the physical key to get in ans the rf transmitter being inside of the car would be in range to be able to communicate with the vehicle. As far as the oil pressure, I thought of that but even after seeing it was okay I still needed Maserati to diagnose and clear the code while noting that the sensor may be going bad. So I just let them take care of the whole process and put it on their records.

The car takes some getting used to with the transmission being an early Ferrari single clutch, but I like it because it feels mechanical and it feels like something is happening when you shift.
