    New models from 2018 + are so much better in every possible way. There are so many details in the exterior and interior improved. Better materials and fit and finish. Front and rear bumper sleeker and aerodynamics improved. Plus, the new electronic steering system, increased HP, and the driving assistance systems added, all these make it a lot better than the previous model. Now it is worth the money for sure. This is in my personal ownership experience.

    Ron, Is the 2019 different to the 2018, as I thought 18’ was the facelift year 🤔

  • @carlamcclendon4314

    2019 all the way. It looks more aggressive from the outside and the interior is more appealing to the eye. But it’s not like yours is chopped liver. I definitely like the price on the 2016 today in comparison to the 2019!

    • @RonsRides
      @RonsRides  Před 5 lety +1

      Thats the kicker Carla, when you can get a pre-owned model for such a low price, would you rather save the money and get the older look/options/tech or jump into whats new and innovative...

    Tough one to choose Ron. i like attributes on both. I like the Gransport front but like the full blackroof on yours. interior? yours wins hands down. Put the front end on your car, then it's a clear choice. Great video, thanks Ron.

    I really like what Maserati has done. The changes are subtle but incredibly effective. The front-end changes are far less noticable (which I think is a good thing since the front-end has always looked good).
    But, the back of the original Ghiblis is now REALLY dated. When it came out, people frequently acccused it of looking like a Kia. The diffuser was non-existent. The tail lights were simplistic and uninspired (though not sure if these are attributable to the nerissimo pack). It just looked far too pedestrian as you pointed out, particularly following up the beautiful, unmistakable rear end of the gen V Quattroporte.
    The interior upgrades are much needed, though I wish they'd offer the carbon-backed buckets from the Granturismo in the Gibli (along with the fully carbon fiber steering wheel)
    Overall, great video, Ron!

    • @RonsRides
      @RonsRides  Před 5 lety +1

      Thank you so much and for really seeing what I was trying to convey here. Its come SUCH a long way and obviously there are things that still could be improved like panel gaps, fit and finishes in the interior etc. But those are thins I think the refreshed Ghibli will address and then the Maserati market will will have something on their hands!

    • @Isalei84
      @Isalei84 Před 5 lety

      @@RonsRides Honestly, I cannot see any issue with the fit and finish on mine. Maybe it depends on each vehicle, considering that the Ghibli is finished by hand in Grugliasco, Italy. There is still a "handcrafted" uniqueness for each vehicle. ;)

    Either one looks very good Ron. I think the Gransport wins from a styling point of view.... but ever so slightly. It's a little more aggressive, with the bigger air intakes at the front. On your 2016, the black wrap on the front, the roof and mirrors were good updates. Your two-tone seats look nicer too. I would be tempted to get a can of black paint paint and make the chrome window strips black too! (okay, maybe not with a rattle can, take it somewhere and get it done right...). Another thorough and good video, I enjoyed it!

    • @RonsRides
      @RonsRides  Před 5 lety

      Thank you for your feedback Martyn and yeah no can of paint lol. I thought about doing a chrome delete wrap but everyone was doing that so I figured i'd keep it as is and stand out a little more.

    I am looking at a 2020 Ghibli right now and I think if I had to choose between these two I would take the new one, but it would be close. I have to have the S model and the 424 HP or else it really isn't worth it in my mind. How has the piano black worked in your interior? I hear it shows fingerprints like crazy. Which is steering me towards some sort of darker wood finish. I'm not really a carbon interior guy.

  • @MW-gi1tr
    @MW-gi1tr Před 5 lety +2

    You’re not going to notice 59 horsepower, especially when it’s at the top end. Like what u did with your roof, but the changes made over the life of the model up to the 2019 model seem to have fixes all the issues. I’d take the 2019. The seats in the Gran Sport can’t be beat.

    Ron I actually own a 2018 SQ4 I feel differently from you, our 2016-18 rear bumpers look more full & chunky, the cut outs in the 2019 make it look more skinny, just my opinion 👍🏽

    Let me ask you something; would the newer rear diffuser and bumper from the newer Ghibli bolt right onto yours in place? I guess you might have a color match issue, but I think yours looks great man.
    Look, I bought a new 2016 E63 AMGs, and voila, two years later they did a complete redesign and upped the HP from 578hp to 612hp, but you know what? The newer ones are cool, but they’ve changed the exhaust note so much and made the inside so overly electronic that I’m happy with mine.
    Just stick with the one you have - it’s an awesome vehicle 👍🏻

  • @drumking3188

    Very nice video. I do like the 2019 with the extra piece of white plastic closing off the front intakes. I just bought a Certified Pre Owned 2015 Ghibli S Q4 with 15,000 miles. Has options of the 20 inch wheels, Alcantara pillars and headrest, Shyhook suspension, Carbon fiber trim, Premium and Luxury packages, red calipers, and "premium sound system." Payed 50 grand less than sticker, and as I see some other comments were already made, definitely worth buying CPO.... My biggest complaint is the "premium" sound system and touchscreen. Being Chrysler is the parent company the touchscreen is basically the same as my 2013 Dodge Ram 1500, and the stereo in the Ram CRUSHES the stereo in the Maserati. Thoroughly disappointed that a $95,000 car has a stereo that sounds horrible. Yes, I'm very particular about music and sound quality, wish I had the B & W system. Any recommendations out there to get better sound out of this system without putting a new head unit in?????? The stereo has plenty of highs, needs more mid bass and low end. Power amp for the speakers and powered subwoofer that's small but big in sound???

Reasons given were CPO cars automatically get new brake pads and tires, as well as anything else to "recondition" the car to factory specs. Plus you get an additional 2 years warranty after the factory warranty expires.... I just bought the car because I loved it and wanted it.
