    Had my 2014 Ghibli for 4 years and my gas mileage has never been that bad. When I drive it in sport mode all week, I will average 12 to 14 mpg. I drive it everyday to work 35 miles a day. Also, my AC work fantastic. Super cold.

    • @CarsLifeYT
      @CarsLifeYT  Před 2 lety +1

      Might be mine then! Realistically sport is like 10mpg, but a trip usually averages anywhere from 7.9-9.9mpg. I do drive manual and ride it hard though, so might affect it more?
      AC is definitely just an issue on my end apparently. It’s weird, sometimes I don’t have much problem with it but on a really hot day it will be a pain. Definitely need to get it looked at.

      Location, humidity, height etc... driving conditions and driving behavior. Even the coasting upto intersections etc... typing as I listen, incline/steep hill etc... angle and anticipate the speed bumps. I have a QP5 and know the roads... don't power into hollow road dips, and accelerate before the straight. That will counter the ground clearance. Check the A/C rear passenger seat button, when its not cold enough. Also the cabin pressure increases, so make sure you have clear cabin vents.

    • @CarsLifeYT
      @CarsLifeYT  Před 2 lety +2

      @@peterlattimore6013 All great information, thanks! The incline/steep hill thing is pretty easy to counteract if I'm being careful and know the roads (as you mentioned).
      Actually didn't think to check the passenger A/C, will do that for sure. It's currently incredibly cold here so A/C is a non-issue at the moment haha.
      I'm going to be bringing it in for a yearly service soon so we'll see if anything comes up.

    Find your local eurocharged and have it tuned. A lot of these have problems with the overly rich software causing the pour fuel economy. It's what happens when you have a hand built motor but then try to use one-size-fits-all software. You can get better fuel economy and pick up 50 horsepower.

      In response to your points:
      B. The lever is really one of my non-issues, don’t have many problems with it. Just pointing out that it can have that minor inconsistency from time to time.
      C. For sure, but the fact that it’s low with no lift systems that are often optioned into sports cars is just a minor annoyance though.
      D. Yeah, think it could be my car, I’m going to have that checked on servicing. I named the video “My Ghibli” for this reason. Don’t want to throw all of them under the bus for that, especially newer models.

    I've had my 2017 Ghibli S Zenga Edition with the 21" Titano wheels since Aug 2020… I've put very low mileage on the car and 90% of those have been in town. As is the case for the Zenga edition, there are no paddle shifters on the steering column (though they can be added), and of course manual shifting can be done from the center console shifter, although I just put it in drive and use sport mode when I feel like it. I get 9-11 mpg with my in town driving (which again is mostly what I do). When I tracked my mileage for a ~2hr freeway drive (at night with no traffic) I got 22-23 mpg. I have a Pedal Commander (throttle controller) I have yet to install… that will increase the fun factor, curious how it's going to impact the mileage. BTW… the Ghibli is NOT my daily driver.

    Sport mode always keeps the revs high, and prevents overdrive from engaging. Given the weight, engine displacement, 8 speed automatic, final drive, GDI and aerodynamics ... it should absolutely average around 23mpg when driven purely as a commuter car on the freeway. I don't own one, but I'm comparing it to my 2004 Audi A6 2.7 Bi-Turbo Quattro which averaged 24mpg when driven back and forth to the office (without dipping into the throttle) and it only had a 5spd auto and Port Fuel Injection. I can't imagine the wider tires in the back and timing chain vs belt would cause THAT drastic of an efficiency difference - but I'll tell you if I'm wrong when/if I get a Ghibli myself :) Since the Ghibli likes to wear tires fast - the extra friction from default alignment could be cutting into efficiency to gain extra grip in the corners.

    Having watched this entire video and having owned a 2014 SQ4 I can say that half what is said here is not normal. Gas mileage is not good with the Ghibli but it is not as bad as described. Having watched the driver I can see that he primarily drives in Sport mode and with the paddle shift. So this is the absolute LEAST efficient way to drive. As far as high speed is concerned I have had mine up to 161mph and I did not feel like it was in any way unstable. You don't feel the speed until you start to slow down. Having cornered at 125mph while dodging another car I felt very confident in the car. I definitely agree on the cheap components. Its a Dodge with a Ferrari engine but the handling is good. The brakes squeal and slow speed turning is noisy because of the differential. Otherwise its a fun car. Used mine as a daily driver. I would not have it as the primary car but a 3rd car for sure. Ground clearance is not a huge issue. I have a steep drive way and if you drive slow then there are no scrapes but the CAN happen.

      I think mileage for me is also largely because I drive city for only about 15 minutes at a time and lots of stop & go with lights. Even in Normal Automatic it’s roughly the same mileage.
      I may not have given the car enough credit here. It does handle high speeds very well for what it is.
      Yeah, I’ve also found that going slow is the key to not scraping the front on inclines - seems to work pretty well.

    Wow, watching your video's I see that we both have similar purchasing experiences (used & costs). However that's where are similarities end. My Car (a 2018) is Super cold in the summer heat of the DC Area's day and it has no problem maintaining the set AC temp even while sitting in direct sunlight. Unlike you, I only use the Sport mode while sitting in traffic or stopped at lights (The sound is Very Real). This car is a Beast on the highway & I get Very good gas millage traveling state to state distances for such a powerful sport/luxury car. However if I speed from stop light-to stop light, yes, the gas millage will not be as great as a Toyota. So for daily commutes, I do my best NOT to drive it in sport mode. It still demands a presence and has the ability to accelerate pretty damn fast outside of sport mode.

Also, the parts from Chrysler. (Which funny enough I view as a positive! What this switch is the same as my sisters van with 150k miles and still works flawlessly- AWESOME! ) If you get a solid one this is one of the best cars. It will not top any performance segment. I got over 29mpg average on a roadtrip in a 2020 ghibli. I'm not sure but you seem to be having real issues.
    Even whooping on it I could routinely get 25mpg mixed. from a rental.
    that people are likely hitting with 87 routinely because it's not theirs.
    granted the tires were 40psi cold and 45 PSI up to temp out on the desert highways.
    not a fluke either. it was giving me 600 mile projected fuel stops. Maybe I had a touring specific ghibli, and a Non-S.
    but the ultra quiet ride, the very real economy mode, the looks, the leather everywhere, Like I'm still pining and window shopping for a 17 and up Ghibli.
    high speed stability issues, you need to get it aligned at a shop, perhaps take it to a performance shop and get just a bit extra camber put on it? Or maybe you're actually too nervous. I can't say I blame you. I flogged a rental one real good, but being in the market for one now the whole perception of how I'd drive it is different. :)

    • @CarsLifeYT
      @CarsLifeYT  Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah, the mileage seems to be more so that I only drive about 8 minutes at a time for the gym in the morning and that’s hitting about 8 different lights, so a combination of stop & go, low gears, and not having the engine run for very long. The highway isn’t too bad for me, I get around low 20s mpg there.
      For stability, my biggest thing is in the cornering. I might be a little hesitant about it in this vehicle, but to me it doesn’t feel quite as clean as my McLaren. Not that I’d expect it to be, though - two totally different classes of car. This is a heavier vehicle and primarily a luxury sedan.
      Overall, I love the car though. Can’t blame you for window shopping!
