    A few things to consider, #1) I think you got a car that sat in a garage for a long time. Any car that is not driven a lot will develop issues all on their own due to non-use. Seals that don't get lubed regularly, oil and fuel get stale because it's not being used, batteries drain and go bad if you don't have a battery tender on it when it's going to be garaged for longer than a few weeks, and a lot more. #2) These cars do not use Ferrari Oil, there is no such thing as Ferrari Oil. They use 5W-40 Full Synthetic oil. I personally use pennzoil ultra platinum euro 5w40 in mine. I change my own oil for less than $100.00 including the filter. #3) I wonder what your BMW cost brand new compared to what it is worth today? Maserati is not the only car that depreciates like that, Mercedes, BMWs, AUDI, even Lamborghini's. A Lambo Gallardo will depreciate more than a Maserati, not to mention a $300K Bentley costing 60K in less than 5 years? I will also tell you I have had a 2014 Maserati Ghibli SQ4 with 67K miles on it for 1 year and 6 months now, it has been well maintained, not abused, and driven a lot. The mileage proves that. I have not had ANY issues with it. It has NEVER let me down. I love my Ghibli and will never get rid of it. I am sorry you are having such bad luck with yours, but don't blame it on the brand because yours is a lemon. Mine is a winner. Sorry.

      James Raaymakers dude I know for a fact there are good cars in every batch made by any company. Glad you got a pristine example. BUT there are NUMEROUS videos and articles sharing how the depreciation is ridiculous and reliability is subpar. It is a luxury/sports car we get it, brand has heritage we get it, but you have to admit for the money the RISK only simply isn’t worth it. If you get a bad one your screwed. And that makes this just a bad car..

  • @Finesse460
    @Finesse460 Před 5 lety +42

    It’s gotta be those aftermarket wheels. These high performance cars have many sensors that detect if the transmission and possibly even the differential are working at maximum - all the time. It’s not like an RC F or an M3 where you can change the wheels, no problem. No. You have to adjust something in the transmission, most likely by computer, to accept the new wheels. Because the wheels are the last gear of your transmission, it senses that speed. When you change wheel size, the car still thinks the old wheels are on and will detect something is wrong because bigger wheels equals more speed. Notice this on your speedometer versus a ‘check your speed’ sign. If it doesn’t match, either the sign is bad or your speedometer is being told the wrong info by the transmission which causes it to go into limp mode.
    Another issue can be that the bigger wheels are damaging the transmission. These high performance cars come with light weight wheels from the factory.. so if you put some heavier replicas or a heavier wheel in general, it causes the transmission to do more work than it usually would with a regular wheel under 21”, the biggest wheel they put on these cars.

    The reliability seems to be best described as "hit or miss". Depends on the car. I hear tons of nightmare stories from owners who treated and maintained it pristine. I also know someone with a 15' Ghibli with 130k miles on it. Maintenance aside, it's only had 3 repairs and the total cost of all 3 was $1,400.
    The key is..do NOT buy one with very low miles because you don't know if it's a decent or dud one. Find one with say 60k miles. If it already has lotta repairs..avoid! If it's needed none or maybe 1 repair.. probably a good one.

We have a 2007 porsche turbo that had the famous spun camshaft sleeve which lots of people had and only way to fix it is to take engine out and remove cams and get them pinned. Even search it up. And first model bentley continental gt 04-05 had the vacuum hoses on top of the transmission that were plastic and they would break and once they break you need to take out the engine and tranny out to fix it. Im sure there are lots of cars with problems its just how lucky you get :D

I think it's the second time for this car, as I saw the husband driving a loaner car from the dealer several months ago for a couple of weeks. I see a similar thing with some of these high-end Mercedes and BMWs, with insane repair bills when the cars are out of warranty. I guess these rich people don't mind it; they can afford to shell out the bucks to keep them fixed. I had a 2015 Maserati Ghibli for almost 4 years. I heard many people complain that the pre-2015 models were terrible. I drove the car for 40,000 miles. The acceleration and drive in sport mode was great. The leather interior was luxurious. Other than that, I felt the car was cheaply made with Dodge parts except for the engine which is Ferrari made. The maintenance costs were the deal killer for me. Once this car is out of warranty, it becomes a money pit and this model has a horrid depreciation rate. You could get a 2015 Ghibli used for under $30K but it's a sucker's deal because you'll be spending a king's ransom just to keep the car running. For the money, there are better options out there.

    I have a 2015 Chrysler 200, this interior is very similar to mine. You can tell it's Chrysler.

    why it's $500? For me it's $80 just as your M4. I have 2014 Ghibli S 41000km without any issues.

      I had a Audi s4, the oil change cost me $800, changing 4 wheels the labor cost $480. If so, I like to have a Marserati rather than an Audi

    My first car that I owned as a teenager was a 1991 Chrysler LeBaron. The Chrysler LeBaron was the king of lemon cars, it brakes down very often. (Also Chrysler LeBaron partnered with Maserati to design and manufacture the Chrysler LeBaron.

    One thing I’ll make sure to do when buying and reselling cars will be to check online for the most common problems with a certain vehicle and to check on thoose before buying!
