@Joel Schembri Not true. There is the Gransport MC Victory (which was made to celebrate the MC12 winning the world championship). It has colored carbon fibre (in 2006 no less! The first car ever to have it), Enzo/MC12 carbon bucket seats, a suede interior, etc. They're still worth DOUBLE what a standard Gransport is worth (around 65k usd), and will likely appreciate. simeunovicm although this is partially true, the true name is actually Fiat Chrysler, because Fiat never bought them, they just set up an agreement to merge the two companies, therefore the proper name is “Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.” Chrysler is a subsidiary of Fiat, but I will give you credit...
Daughter just bought one of these. Great looking car and it drives well and that exhaust sound is the best.
A few things to consider, #1) I think you got a car that sat in a garage for a long time. Any car that is not driven a lot will develop issues all on their own due to non-use. Seals that don't get lubed regularly, oil and fuel get stale because it's not being used, batteries drain and go bad if you don't have a battery tender on it when it's going to be garaged for longer than a few weeks, and a lot more. #2) These cars do not use Ferrari Oil, there is no such thing as Ferrari Oil. They use 5W-40 Full Synthetic oil. I personally use pennzoil ultra platinum euro 5w40 in mine. I change my own oil for less than $100.00 including the filter. #3) I wonder what your BMW cost brand new compared to what it is worth today? Maserati is not the only car that depreciates like that, Mercedes, BMWs, AUDI, even Lamborghini's. A Lambo Gallardo will depreciate more than a Maserati, not to mention a $300K Bentley costing 60K in less than 5 years? I will also tell you I have had a 2014 Maserati Ghibli SQ4 with 67K miles on it for 1 year and 6 months now, it has been well maintained, not abused, and driven a lot. The mileage proves that. I have not had ANY issues with it. It has NEVER let me down. I love my Ghibli and will never get rid of it. I am sorry you are having such bad luck with yours, but don't blame it on the brand because yours is a lemon. Mine is a winner. Sorry.
James Raaymakers dude I know for a fact there are good cars in every batch made by any company. Glad you got a pristine example. BUT there are NUMEROUS videos and articles sharing how the depreciation is ridiculous and reliability is subpar. It is a luxury/sports car we get it, brand has heritage we get it, but you have to admit for the money the RISK only simply isn’t worth it. If you get a bad one your screwed. And that makes this just a bad car..
They just don’t know how to build cars
You just wait
Maserati is garbage though, same thing with Alfa Romeo and the whole FCA group. Ask any European to hear the truth
Dude you want to avoid anything Italian in Europe, they are always fast and look amazing but reliabilitiy is so bad both in italian motorbikes and cars especially have a lot of electronic problems... not only maserati, fiat, alfa romeo, also ducati for example... its a common italian mistake but if you have the money you dont really care about repairs I guess
It’s gotta be those aftermarket wheels. These high performance cars have many sensors that detect if the transmission and possibly even the differential are working at maximum - all the time. It’s not like an RC F or an M3 where you can change the wheels, no problem. No. You have to adjust something in the transmission, most likely by computer, to accept the new wheels. Because the wheels are the last gear of your transmission, it senses that speed. When you change wheel size, the car still thinks the old wheels are on and will detect something is wrong because bigger wheels equals more speed. Notice this on your speedometer versus a ‘check your speed’ sign. If it doesn’t match, either the sign is bad or your speedometer is being told the wrong info by the transmission which causes it to go into limp mode.
Another issue can be that the bigger wheels are damaging the transmission. These high performance cars come with light weight wheels from the factory.. so if you put some heavier replicas or a heavier wheel in general, it causes the transmission to do more work than it usually would with a regular wheel under 21”, the biggest wheel they put on these cars.
👏👏👏
Yup something to consider
I have a 2016 Ghibli sq4. It a horrible vehicle, definitely not worth the money.
I put different sized tires on my 2015 Camry once because they did not have the perfect size. No problems apart from slightly less accurate readings on the speedometer.
@@davidperry4013 yeah, tires are no biggie. Especially if you kept the factory wheels.
Sounds like you got a lemon bro, sell it, make lemonade 😁
Well anyone paying $500 for an oil change on a Maserati using "Ferrari oil" deserves what they get.
I have a guy who does it for $50.
@@Analyst1987 Yeah, just do that shit yourself or by a friend, it's cheaper. Just get a good brand of oil and you'll be fine
With its Chrysler parts ha
The reliability seems to be best described as "hit or miss". Depends on the car. I hear tons of nightmare stories from owners who treated and maintained it pristine. I also know someone with a 15' Ghibli with 130k miles on it. Maintenance aside, it's only had 3 repairs and the total cost of all 3 was $1,400.
The key is..do NOT buy one with very low miles because you don't know if it's a decent or dud one. Find one with say 60k miles. If it already has lotta repairs..avoid! If it's needed none or maybe 1 repair.. probably a good one.
Yes because the seller has never lied about having more than one repair 😜
I never had this problem with my Masi. Still performs well, I am aware of its reliability issue but it was my dream car.

@@lequrage1084 Just be prepared in resorting to alternative solutions to keep that car running. Like when the engine finally dies you can have a Chevy LS V8 from the Corvette swapped in which would make it more affordable to maintain.
@@evoman44or a Ferrari Pista engine aka the F136 which has been used in the F430, F458, and F488. Would be a better swap than an LS. It’s either a high revving DOHC flatplane V8 or nothing for a Ghibli engine swap.
@@davidperry4013 It could be but it would still be more expensive to repair than an LS engine. I would rather swap the engine from a Shelby Mustang 350 if I wanted a flat plan crank V8. Parts for it are far more affordable than Ferrari parts.

The manual says it's 5W-40 Pennzoil (Platnum Euro full synthetic) it just has a Ferrari pic on it. A oil change is for 12,500 miles not 3,000 like your BMW or camero ....yes 12,500 per Maserati specs. You have a Ferrari filter but not Ferrari oil ......Ferrari does not make oil and it is 9 quarts. The car needs to be driven and not be a garage diva that is why your are having problems.
@ 4door mas - Don't know about your BMW oil change at 3000 miles but my 550i is at 15000 miles and varies based on driving. It typically cost $200 at dealer $100 if I do it myself.
4door mas Can confirm. I own a 2018 Ghibili S Q4 GranSport and a 2017 GT MC Convertible. The oil change is at 12500 miles or over 1 year. I had to do the 12500 on my GT, and the 1 year oil change on my Ghibli. I had prepaid maintenance, but it’s ~750 for the 1 year oil change and ~1200 for the 12500 change if I recall correctly.
Synthetic can be put in the Camaro or the BMW and the oild won't need to be changed for 10 to 15k miles. Maserati isn't doing anything different

@@ashtonsamson6912 No doubt about that. I don't think I indicated anywhere that a Maserati was not, in fact, a car.
Matter of fact, I do believe the entirety of my post was served to explain why the person's personal anecdote about their car not having any problems was not that the car itself was reliable but because they were just in fact lucky.
But if you understood my argument as trying to say that the Maserati is a cigarette, then I have no idea what to do about your confusion other than to reiterate that I do understand that Maserati is indeed a car.
Not a very reliable car or a particularly good car. But yes, I must agree, it is a car.
I just bought a Gibley earlier this year. I just called the dealership after watching this video LOL. @@user-eh8jd6qt8x What do you mean? Chrysler and Maserati literally did a collab for a lot of the parts and systems on the Ghibli.
All cars have problems if not maintained correctly. There’s lemon law for a reason
1. limp mode at 70 mph
2. expensive service (oil change cost $500)
You need to get to the point.
The interface is from Chrysler Dodge so any complaints about it not connecting blue tooth etc should be leveled at them - I have the same system in my Jeep and the same probs. Also, this car is based on the Chrysler 300 chassis -‘enough said.
To be fair, it used to be a Mercedes E class chassis too.
I had issues caused by flat battery from not driving much during lockdown. Some bad design, can't easily open the trunk when the battery is flat. It's the fastest most luxiourous car I've ever owned. These things depreciated like crazy here in the UK. Almost pulled the trigger on a 2016 ghibli, even though it was slightly out of my budget. I decided to go with a Lexus in the end, mainly because of the reliability concerns... Dodged a bullet, it seems.

Dodged a dodge
Lexus is a good choice… what model?

How can you buy a Toyota for 100 grand??
Honestly the limp mode issue can happen to any car, it happened to my wife in the summer time in GA on the highway. Her BMW 335 wouldn’t go over 2000 rpms and her A/C also wouldn’t work. We had to pull off the highway and restart the car for it to correct itself, just to drive another hour and it happen again. After 2 months at the dealership it was finally fixed, temporarily
Faulty knock sensors are a common culprit for causing limp mode on old cars.
2:16 Maserati ranks 36 out of 36 on reliability. And Range Rover breathes a sigh of relief.
Haha
Its usually first year or two models that have the most problems. We have a 2007 porsche turbo that had the famous spun camshaft sleeve which lots of people had and only way to fix it is to take engine out and remove cams and get them pinned. Even search it up. And first model bentley continental gt 04-05 had the vacuum hoses on top of the transmission that were plastic and they would break and once they break you need to take out the engine and tranny out to fix it. Im sure there are lots of cars with problems its just how lucky you get :D

I work at an affluent gated community and we saw an almost new Maserati Quattroporte that belongs to one of the homeowners getting towed back to the dealer for repairs. I think it's the second time for this car, as I saw the husband driving a loaner car from the dealer several months ago for a couple of weeks. I see a similar thing with some of these high-end Mercedes and BMWs, with insane repair bills when the cars are out of warranty. I guess these rich people don't mind it; they can afford to shell out the bucks to keep them fixed. Me, I bought a new Japanese-made Nissan 370Z that is solidly built and that won't fall apart if I look at it the wrong way.

The none connection with your phone happens often with the uconnect system as well. I know you have a Maserati but Maserati shares the same screen that's in all of the newer Chrysler, jeeps and dodge products. I've noticed to get the phone to connect to the system sometimes you have to turn the car off and open the door so the power is completely off close the door then restart the car. If that doesn't help you have to get it replaced. I have a jeep srt and the same thing happens with my phone sometimes
It was 5 years old in 2019. You should not have been surprised at ~57% depreciation over 5 years. MOST new cars depreciate at LEAST that much. The better ones still lose ~45-50%.

@@3d_Ink_Oficial mine will be here soon. I hear the audio system sucks. Did you enhance yours if so how?
@@maurice6987 yes
It’s horrible
I replaced all the speakers and add a sub
$1.200 with the installation
@@3d_Ink_Oficial got it. Thanks a bunch!
It depends 90% how the previous owner treated the car
Flying G550 unless its a maserati ghibli
Sounds like an engine management problem, could be a dodgy sensor somewhere which is common.Take the car to a racing specialist and they will probably identify the problem and not to your local dealership.
I drive a Ghibli and I have 68k miles on it already. No issues
Yet..
@francesco deminelli Nope I am an owner
you convinced me, i"ll buy one!
Your getting stealing one confused with buying one
@@vladimerputin7911 You're. i don't know about stealing, but you can teach me.
@@eclipse2508 you can't help yourself its in your nature.
@@vladimerputin7911 stay away from the election please
VLADIMER PUTIN yea you got a little dick
When you decide to purchase a Maserati or any vehicle make sure that you have Extended Warranty. That is very valuable.
That's what I don't get. Get a warranty and you have nothing to worry about. You can't buy these cars and not have anything to back it if something breaks.
Not only would those spray-on tyres give you a bad ride, but I cannot see any tread?
you talking about Maserati ? what about your BMW? that's probably worst case if we're talking about these 3 cars sitting in your parking
Bmw are very reliable and always has been, Don’t see why people say they’re not. Altough i’ve never had an M-Sport Bmw so don’t know about those.
Bmw is actually not really terrible, but its not great.
140 for 2014 and up for oil change. 2013 and older should run 400. They are trying to rip you off.
This car is salvage. Why did u buy it?
That’s a rule in car buying never buy the first year of production for any car model always wait a year or 2 because they are always gonna have issues.
The older ones suck yeah. Before making comments on the WHOLE car review the new ones. They are much better
Yep , and thats what we should also say to Doug de Muro yes! ;)
FACTS!!! I’m having ALL the same issues.
And now you know why its only 30k
Car goes into limp mode once *makes a video*
I had a 2015 Maserati Ghibli for almost 4 years. I heard many people complain that the pre-2015 models were terrible. I drove the car for 40,000 miles. The acceleration and drive in sport mode was great. The leather interior was luxurious. Other than that, I felt the car was cheaply made with Dodge parts except for the engine which is Ferrari made. The maintenance costs were the deal killer for me. Once this car is out of warranty, it becomes a money pit and this model has a horrid depreciation rate. You could get a 2015 Ghibli used for under $30K but it's a sucker's deal because you'll be spending a king's ransom just to keep the car running. For the money, there are better options out there.
I have a 2015 Chrysler 200, this interior is very similar to mine. You can tell it's Chrysler.
More like a Fiat..never trust the Italians and their cars (unless it’s a Ferrari)
Thank you for clearing this up!!
ChaeHenny absolutely man!!
ok. one question, the 2018 Ghibli granlusso have the same problems than the 2014 one?? or is better in somethings
Had ours for 2 years , never had a problem . Still turns me on 💕
why it's $500? For me it's $80 just as your M4. I have 2014 Ghibli S 41000km without any issues.
The fact is if you don't like it there will be 1000 reasons to hate it
I have a 2014 SQ4 and the oil change cost me $500 as well. Please let me know where do you get yours done for $80?
I had a Audi s4, the oil change cost me $800, changing 4 wheels the labor cost $480. If so, I like to have a Marserati rather than an Audi
Georgy Perrier 500??? I have a 2016 A4 and the oil change costs me 120 bucks
Larris I have a 1998 bmw 528i I did my own oil change 🤣🤣
My first car that I owned as a teenager was a 1991 Chrysler LeBaron. The Chrysler LeBaron was the king of lemon cars, it brakes down very often. (Also Chrysler LeBaron partnered with Maserati to design and manufacture the Chrysler LeBaron.
Right there when he said “ I don’t even know what else to say!” Yeah I’ll pass on it 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏽♂️
One thing I’ll make sure to do when buying and reselling cars will be to check online for the most common problems with a certain vehicle and to check on thoose before buying!
Thanks for the video Weston!
My friends and I took my friends Maserati ghibli from Sacramento to Laguna seca , doing a lot of racing, tunnel runs and hills. It did fine 🤷♂️
My experience with Maseratis is to keep the engine happy....at least 3,500 rpm in any gear
Wes, what do you consider the best luxury or exotic model car to purchase for the value?
Thanks
if I were you, get an alfa romeo guilia quad
