Just passed 100K miles on my 2014 Maserati Ghibli SQ4.
Had to stop on the side of the road on the way to church this morning to do a short video of my 2014 Maserati Ghibli SQ4 passing 100K miles. It still runs like new and I still use it as a daily driver. I really believe all the maintenance and repairs I performed myself on my Ghibli are the reason it still runs like it does. It as if it knows it's owner can still run the basketball court with the kids at the age of 64 years old. I have a ton of mileage on my body as well.

    15:26 another hour of work skipped in putting back on the wheel splash guards and under engine splash guards.

    15:00 I appreciate the detail on how to remedy an overfill situation, but you didn't tell us how you accomplished a siphon. From the lack of detail you gave I can only assume you did it the old school way and started the siphon by sucking on the siphon tube with your mouth. Obviously that's not the right way to do this. Some sort of vacuum pump is needed. I know there are hand pumps designed to suck all the oil out of the car from the top so that you don't have to get under a car to change the oil. One of those would work. Also there are inexpensive siphon kits available at convenience stores that have a little red bellows you can squeeze by hand to pump.

  • @TheLarryBrown
    @TheLarryBrown Před 16 hodinami

    14:18 Way too much time spent to fill exactly to the fill line. You know the car takes 9 quarts. You know that it's 1 quart from the "min" line to the "max." You were already more careful than needed to start at 8 quarts, but if you want to start there, once you saw you were at "min" you should have simply added 1 more quart and been done with it.

    • @JamesDIYGarage
      @JamesDIYGarage Před měsícem

      Seriously? Ok, I'll be nice. Most "Maserati Owners" keep their Maserati garaged most of the time fearing the high mileage will drop the value of their car. In reality it drops the reliability of the car giving these cars a reputation for being unreliable and not making it to the 100k mile club. My car proves that these cars can be as reliable as a Lexus with proper care and driving it a lot, even with substantial spirited driving as I have the habit of doing. But at the end of the day, you have a Lexus and I have a Maserati. Lets see which car most people will take selfies next to. Which car will give more smiles per gallon.

      It is if it has been well maintained. Have a Prepurchase inspection done on the car unless it is a CPO car. That is always a good investment. Also try to get a service history from the Dealer redacting the previous owners personal info. That how I got mine.

    I don’t think you did it right. I did suction method and pulled out 9.5 quarts! You need to use a hard plastic line. And insert it the exact length of the dip stick so the tubes ending is at the very bottom of the pan. Then I dump a half quart into the motor then suck that out also. Make sure you run the motor for 10 mins prior to extraction so the oil is mixed up also.

    • @JamesDIYGarage

      I did. But I should straighten it out before I use it. It is coiled so it may not get a good angle to suck all the oil.out.

      Yes. I would. I have seen videos that show how a guy did it without removing the bumper, but he cut some of the metal frame away to do it. After doing it a couple times, its easy and I can have the front bumper off in less than 10 minutes.
