Thank you for all of the information in your reviews. I just ordered the 12'5" bris with the hangkai 18hp.
Nice! That should be a good combo. Let us know how it works out for you!
Lol I just did exactly the same . So, how do you like it?
It's worked out great, I have taken it on a local river (Meramec in St. Louis ) and Table Rock Lake at the Missouri / Arkansas border. Did great both places. I really wanted the 14.5, but in retrospect. The 12.5 works better for my situation, its easier for me to move by myself on shore either carrying or pulling on the transom wheels.
Same here 😆
this run and ride along just got you a sub, i need thrust over speed as a kicker on my 24ft sail boat, if its good ill buy two and hang a pair side by side, is there a factory serial# and purchase documentation?
Hey, you are on Lake Norman. I live at the end of the cove past the marina.
Looks like a great outboard for an inflatable. I wonder if they're as fuel efficient as a 4 stroke? I've got a 20 Hp Tohatsu 4 stroke and have taken it all the way up the river to the Lookout Shoals dam & back on a single 2.5 gallon tank. I wish mine was only 80 lbs. It's 92-94lbs & all I can manage mounting solo.
Btw, I see you're into Chinese dual-sports too. I have a PitsterPro LXR250. Looks like one of us should open a Chinese dinghy & dual-sport shop! LOL.
Would you recommend on replacing the prop on the 18hp i have seen where people say the stock one revs too high
Thanks!
Thanks for supporting the channel!
What is the top speed on that 18 ? Im currently running a 15hp mercury on a 14x42 G3 jon boat, just me i can get 24mph curious if i could get more with that 18hp
Wrap some tape around the pin on the cowl
The 18 is very nice but I'm going with the 12hp as trying to lift the 18 onto my 13' Saturn SD 385 by myself is not a good idea. Great video
@thesaltyj7780 The 12hp is great option, absolutely if you are going to be taking it off and putting it back on a lot. Let us know how you like the 12hp once you get to take it out! Hopefully it is warmer where you are!

On second thought I think I will just go with the 18, and do these come in a short shaft version.?
Hey hows your red Bris 10ft going< I see in some review that there are quality troubles with things like the handles tearing and whatnot
The only issue with the red one is a slow leak in the middle V, but it's had that issue pretty much since new.

Hello there..any thoughts on the horse power limitations on different inflatable boat in regard of the size etc?
Check in your transmit. I'll tell you how much you can have.
This may be a little beyond your experience with these Hangkai engines, but I have a small 12ft 6in catamaran that I was thinking of running twin 18's on. Has anyone ever configured one with remote steering, throttle, shift, and starting? Probably something I would have to engineer on my own. The one thing I was wondering about would be prop selection. I saw where you indicated these are a copy of a Yamaha 15F so I wonder if the props would interchange. With twins on a small boat I could probably run a little larger prop. If I could get it to cruise above 25 or 30 mph I would be happy as a clam. Your thoughts? ( Did some searching and I will skip the remote start feature, most of the starter motor & flywheel kits run about $450, and X2 I think I can live with the pull start)
I haven't seen any setups like that on the Hangkai, but I would assume that the remote controls kit for the 15F (minus the electric start) should work. The Hangkai 18 already has the hole drilled to hook up remote steering so I would think a universal kit would work.
Since we aren't really using the Hangkai 6.0 motors much anymore we are considering building a boat and running twin 6.0s (because why not), but it will probably require some creativity for those motors. I would think getting the 18s setup for it should be pretty straightforward. Definitely make a video of your setup if you decide to go through with it!
@@HufflerGarage it is possible to remote control any number of outboard motors. There is a guy that does this very thing. He put four Coleman’s on a plastic boat. Now he does a lot of things I personally would be afraid to try! Motors of old were designed to be used with remote shift and throttle. Some new ones are as well. Making a setup for remote control could be tricky but with the right tools and equipment it would be totally possible. Muskoka sea flea channel is great example of this.
I have the 12 hp. A popular youtuber wanted to know why i bought a chinese motor. I ask him to check his mercury motor. Made in CHINA. I am now going to buy another Hangkai 18 hp. Almost all advanced motors are made in china. At 82 i lift it on and off. You can buy 3 yamaha 15f (18hp hangkai) for the price of 1 name brand. The biggest problem i think is getting spare parts. Warranty for 3 years on hangkai. 9.8 Tohasu prop fit my 12 hp perfect.
You are spot on with what we have observed so far. For the price, you can't beat it. Once you know what the motor is a clone of, parts are easy to buy; and if you have time to wait for shipping from China, you can find them super cheap as well.
Hangai is a copy of Tohatsu 15/18 HP
Can anyone tell me the motors come with a certificate of origin? In my state anything over 10hp has to have a title.
They do
whats the shaft length on the motor
my transom is 15 ''
It’s 15
What's the benefit of getting an 18hp over the 12hp if you only see a 2mph difference? Is it worth the extra money?
Yes if you want to be able to plane with extra gear and people. If you are going solo and deflating the boat every time, we would recommend the 12.
What is the mixture ratio for this motor
1:50
The real down and dirty: reliability, parts availability, and who can and will service it for any bigger issues?
What model of the Yamaha is 18 HP copied from?
It's a copy of a Yamaha 15F.
How reliable has the 18 been? Plan on using mine for salt water only hope it’s a decent motor lol
me two, if u get it tell me if its any good !
too*
How about sparepart it's easy to get?
Curious about this too
So I must ask what don’t you like about these motors?
Thé small plastic parts aren’t the best quality and the paint doesn’t hold up too good in saltwater. We’ve got some videos with the issues we’ve had on the 6.0 Hangkais. Here in the next month or so we’ll be doing an update video on the 12 and 18. But overall we don’t really have anything to complain about. For the price they’ve been really good.
@@HufflerGarage thank you
@@HufflerGarage what will happen if the paint doesn't hold up in saltwater and how to fix it? repaint with good paint?
Corrosion on the body and internals?
None yet, but I’m sure some will show up once we get in the saltwater. The 6.0 HP motors got a little surface corrosion after we ran them in the ocean, but this one has a pretty large anode so it may do better.
Vi otro video donde la corrosión es mucha en todo el cuerpo del 18 hp
Is this a short shaft ?
Yes its a 40cm short shaft.
@@HufflerGaragemy transom is 16” so I will need a longshaft to keep away from cavitation?
Good video
Only reason why i don’t like them couse I had a 3.6 it would shut of when it got hot
We have a Hangkai 3.5 (that we got for free) that has the same issue. The 3.5 is junk compared to the larger Hangkai motors.
@@HufflerGarage ifk bro I got a 20hp it broke on the same day got it running again and it over heated after it was pumping water thir just junk
So the 12 horsepower is a knockoff of a tohatsu. Also the 6.5 horsepower 4-stroke is a knockoff of a tohatsu. But I heard the 18 horsepower is a knockoff of a Yamaha. Do you know what specific model the Hangkai 18 horsepower is copied from?
It’s a copy of a Yamaha 15F.
Great video! I wondered about these motors but have been on the fence regarding reliability and parts availability. Given this is a knock off of a Yamaha 15F, would it be fair to say I can order parts for the Yamie and they would be direct replacements?
No! Quality and Yamaha is still very different, especially in the anticorrosion aspect, but for his price equivalent to the defect is completely acceptable.
@@HufflerGarage copy of Tohatsu
@@andrzejbarankiewicz4690for certain?
Does it come with a title?
The motor itself does not. Where we live, you don't have to register outboards.
The boat comes with a MSO/MCO to register it and get a title.
@@HufflerGarage thank you! We have to register anything over 10hp
did it come with a serial number?
🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
