- Arguably one of the more dangerous motorsports of them all. It is race day at the 2024 Riverland Dinghy Derby in Renmark, South Australia and it's going to be a scorcher with temperatures expected to get to 43ºC/109ºF. This is going to be a hot one..... Andrew and Tahlia steer their 3.15m tinny with a 30hp Yamaha around the creeks of Renmark to secure a 2nd place in the 30hp Standard class. 4 laps complete the 100km course.
Huge thank you to our sponsor Level Electrical & Data Riverland!
That woman is absolutely fearless. What a team, great camera work too.
What about the driver?
To have a partner who shares the same outdoors fun and is committed to it. That's a keeper 👏
esp. when u have such a great view!!
@@hellraiser666666 how does he focus on driving?!
Bunz of steel.
No way! The whole point of having outdoors fun is to get away from your Mrs!
And the shorts.
Anyone else unable to sit still watching this. I found myself leaning from left to right right along with her. Outstanding video!
i ducked for some branches as well yes..
I'd love to see a VR version. If they could record this in 3D from her view, holy crap!
I would get distracted watching her marvelous rear and run into something.😛
I'm all over my chair. Wow the copilot really had to be in shape. This was cool!
Hahahahahahahahaha YEA same here
The view is pleasent enough.
Yeah, I'd make a shit driver too😂
Agreed.
I definitely would of snagged a tree
How does he concentrate on racing with the bow rider's butt staring you in the face the whole time.... Bugger the race,, go find somewhere to moor up for "a bit". lol
So that's a butt clenching ride..
That chick is absolutely mental, dude can steer too🤙👍
Fun is what I would call it lol
rear end looks tight enough for me ,to head up the dirt track
Fuckin jammer bro. Jammers hard.
@@user-pu6jv7wi5xno...ya...no
How many fatalities in this race?
Bro….mad respect for you and your swinger she was reading your mind that was some epic racing 🤙🍻🇦🇺
I don't know anything about this kind of racing, but as the one who can see the furthest ahead, I wonder if it's her job to navigate and the helmsman's job to follow her lead?
@@hinnmanfamily ...... its a course guys.. this is low lying swamp land and they just have a course setup. ether they get to circle it once before or there's a lead boat with a camera or something. they usualy know well in advance what course their supposed to take. Similar to rally racing or those skimmer jet boats got in places like Louisiana
@@hinnmanfamily Yes! Look closely and you will see that there are several times when she gives the driver a definite signal about making a sudden correction - and that she does so a moment before the driver is able to see what she sees (perhaps this is sometimes because his view is partly blocked, but still, those signals were KEY factors a few times).
The only thing that should be changed is no bottom still A 10+
Her job is to be movable "ballast". The boat goes fastest with the bow up out of the water, but it won't turn well like that. For the turns, the bow needs to be down into the water to keep the boat from spining out. Her job is to shift her weight around as needed for the best overall speed. You see this in motorcycle side car racing as well.
A great mix of skill, courage and insanity.
lol yep big on insanity i think, unreal and i would hate to see what a slip up would do,
Agreed one mistake and you take a branch right in the face... Scary stuff.
Top tier mullet, fit missus and a tinny that goes hard. Living the dream.
Agreed. I just came here to comment on that glorious mullet.
Yeah x3 on the sick mullet
Huge respect! Tahlia, the one with the most to lose, first, is absolutely amazing and no slam on the the driver, great control. What a duo and video, great job! props from the States
going in there face first is quite something. looks like a great team!
I was stationed in Woomera SA from 1992-94 and will attest…the Aussies know how to have fun!!! Loved the Aussies and Australia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still can’t believe they only finished 2nd. Holy crap! Who was first? Flash Gordon and Aqua Man?
Awesome my hats off to you guys specially the navigator that sheela knows what she's doing
I am seriously impressed by the teamwork!
Adding to the old trope “*everything* in Australia is trying to kill you,” we can now add “and you’re trying to do yourselves in too!”
This is an impressive level of trust between driver and navigator!
Teamwork at its finest. That is one gutsy lady.
This stuff is completely awesome that young woman is fearless and that man is very skilled at driving his boat I've never seen such gnarly down under debauchery I love it
Best ever!!!
You Aussies are bad ass!!! That looks like some fun racing. Wonder if we have anything like that here in the states. Awesome teamwork and skill. Every time you'd fly by a log or stick pointing right at ya my stomach would tighten up. Nerves of steal!! Stay safe.
This is the definition of steering by the seat of your pants. Looks like a brilliant rush, reminds me of the sidecars at the TT.
Thanks for sharing, loved the vid.
I do this by myself on the Waccamaw river for my own amusement. Most impressed by the copilot's feel for the boat. She is the boat.
Helmet check. Kneepads check. Hotpants check.
I'm wondering is the helmet an OH&S thing, and lucky we don't have those jumping carp over here.
You forgot the champagne cork for the butt, to have something to clench.
What a fantastic fun/cost ratio! I thought dirt bikes offered the most adrenaline for your buck till I saw this video.
That has GOT to be the most dangerous wild badass form of racing there is! Huge respect and totally awesome!!! BTW, nice view!!
That is a race which requires unshakeable trust from both involved.
That’s some excellent driving!
And that young lady is afraid of nothing.
Head first and full speed into the trees…..
You go girl !
Great Adventure, Six Flags, you only think you have the ultimate thrill ride! Man, that girls tough, brave....and trusting.
Aquatic Rallying, God bless the Australians.
What an ab workout, I bet she could take a punch to the guts pretty well.
Tahlia is badass, respect.
If I had the high potential of being yeeted into a tree like that I’d be wearing moto X body armour. Nice work.
Yeah think I'd add some body armour, a neck brace at the least.
Incredible team work! Smoking all the competition!
This needs to be a VR video game!!
Reminds me of motorbike sidecar racing, except much more pleasant view, excellent skills to race at this level, congrats.
Mad respect to keep the hammer down through those mazes ! The bowperson must have some hella nerve too. 👍👍
You guys down there are crazy. Looks like fun.
Have never watched this racing before. Wild stuff, kudos to the crew.
That was sensational . That was the most exciting race I have ever watched . 👌
Jesus, 9:30 she got some airtime before taking the hit all in the ribs. Absolute heroics hanging on after that.
Right? And never giving up on trying to hold the front of the boat down as best as possible so as not to lose speed in that rough water. I think I would have cried Uncle and collapsed on the floor of the boat right then.
A lot of trust between that couple - And incredible skills! Much respect. Great video.
That was so cool, I have never heard of anything like this. Thank you for sharing.
Watching these boats go around corners and leaning into them with the bow ridder. Fast and precise piloting. Great racing and the courage of the bow ridders trust is amazing. Thanks for the videos.
any racing you can do in shorts and a tee shirt is awesome in my books
Great pilot flat out! And Tahlia did one hell of a job on all the corners. Awesome job to you both!
Those ladies are bad asses! And the girl that was the star of the event really had quick reflexes and she's also very brave! Good job guys! Looks wicked fun! ❤❤❤😊😊😊
Wow!! brings me back to my childhood in the early 90's I greatly miss Renmark and that muddy Murray River! Epic racing mad respect! Thank you! Keep it fair dinkum!😊
Amazing racing, I just hope for the young ladies sake you never have an accident. I guess I am getting old for this stuff. When I was young in late 70's I used to race bikes, hanglide, and white water canoeing. Now I am just glad I have a beer beside me when chilling in the lazyboy. Cheers from Canada, drive safe.
Confucius Say: As we age (me too) we transition from "participants" to "spectators". Its a FACT !!!!!!!!!!
what a team! wow!
That Was INTENSE!! OK sure, I had to admire Andrew's view...but Holy Smokes, once they got into those creeks, I could not believe the speed Andrew was maneuvering those turns! And Tahlia, OMG, she was all "one with the boat!" Hands, Feet, Up Front, Get Back! This is not the first time these two have navigated this course. Every turn, Every tree in the middle of the creek, Every half-submerged log or stump, Every low-hanging limb, They knew it was coming...Not their first rodeo!! Well Done!! I found myself shouting "Whoa...Whoa!! at every turn! "Repo Man's ALWAYS Intense!! C'mon, Let's go get us a drink!" 👍🤠
What an exciting race thank you for sharing this video sharing with friends love you all in Australia all the way from California with love❤🇺🇸
Thank you for the highlights seriously love you Australia I know your people are kind💙❤🌎✌💙👍🇺🇸
Wow never seen this before and that's some crazy racing for sure and a buttload of crazy respect for you and yours! Awesome stuff
A butt load. Lol
So I never even knew bout this till now and it's dangerous and crazy but I love it, I love motorized racing in car and planes and boats and if this was a thing here in South Africa in my day then I wudda went for it deffo 👍, and huge respect to this specific ride because it was almost flawless 👌, one thing here is both members of a team have to know the course right down to every branch, tree and obstical on it or they won't be getting too far, that along with knowing your bout response and when to start turning as fast as you can go is a crazy challenge im sure, and the person in front is as important as the driver in that they can see and warn on obstacles like dislodged floating wood stumps and so on as seen here at times, why don't someone make a game on this sport please because I would be a huge fan of that one lol, emagin online racing others in the world to this sport ???, Hell yeah 😜
I love this_ this reminds me of my step father, in the day he use to race outboards on his knees in the 1960s (makes sence for the day, easy to shift weight on your knees)... he had to have them replaced in his older years. but here, theres a tandom team (for the weight shifting angle), i like that, It really gives each boat member a skill, how can you NOT love the team work here... just take care of your body please. those trees arent moving until you do and your counter weights are vunerable.
.... gotta love the 3 cylinder 30hp Yammies! I know I'd be hard pressed to ever part with my blue baby.
The best view I’ve ever had of Australia!
THAT IS BAD ASS....
That was great ! I was swaying back and forth in my own chair. I felt like I was there. Thanks for the fun.
This is a very skilled pilot... And Spidergirl balancing the boat at the front is... Amazing!
The way she holds the boat, places her feet, her motion and position have such a level of precision that the execution simply is crisp. She even warns or reminds the pilot of places to pay extra attention on the track. These two make a FANTASTIC TEAM.
I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS ! BUT ITS MEZZZZZZMERIZING HOW MUCH FUN THIS LOOKS TO BE> AND YES THE VIEW IS GREAT.
Woa just missing those logs and branches freeks me out. Imagine getting caught up in one of those 😮
That is my kind of race in in Florida I used to do similar race in different type of boat but I NEVER HAD A COPILOT THAT LOOKED SO FINE WHAT A VIEW ❤😊
i love everything about this, outboards, helmets ,speed, spandex, nearly dying, knee pads. how did you know . well done
This is a hectic new sport. This will blow up as big as southern 80
Not that new, I've been watching for over a decade now :)
Looks like a freaking ton of fun!! Boat ride's cool, too.
I’ve never seen anything like this before. Absolutely amazing!
Imagine my surprise to see mullets involved
Unbloody believable.😯 WOW.😲 Incredible.😳 Insane Race.😱 Insane boat speed and driving skill.🧐 I had to watch it 3 times because It was so intense. 😬Scary? Yes. 😱frightening ? Yes .😱 Your teamwork from you both was just so incredible.👌 Hat off to the co driver👏 with her spotting and balance application.👍 Unbelievable.👌
Didn’t even know this sport existed, frig’n amazing! Back in the day was the monkey a few times in a racing sidecar. Very impressed by Tahlia’s skill & courage along with Andrew’s piloting. I would have been one of the back marker boats cheering you on 👍😀😎
Couldn't hardly stay in my chair. Amazing video, you two are certifiable.
Belle discipline et beau travail d'équipe !
Très spectaculaire!
15 minutes of just watching this and I'm exhausted!
If it weren't for all the deadly creatures, wildfires and mullets, I'd be moving to Oz just for this!
Wow my hats off to that young lady . Great footage 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
all because you got to see flappy butt?
Very cool. Dude’s mullet is hilarious
I'm scared to death watching this sitting here drinking coffee in the a.c. 😊
Never seen anything like this in the states! 😲😳 I would love a run at it 🤘🤘great skills for you two .
Australia Kicks ASS 💪🏻💃
Wow! Just found my new favorite sport. That is hardcore! big props to both driver and bow rider!
They don’t all look like that mate 😎
Big props for the boat
Just wild as hell, awesome speed
Open strait left and right handles. Lean back. Weight, head down. Leaning and looking forward on the strait
That is awesome badassery! Cool stuff...your bow crew is doing all the work and having most of the fun! Ya'll take care and be careful too!
What a team, the connection was there with each other all the way. I've never watched this sport before but I'm going to watch that again. What a thrill to watch. Great win.
Nice video, I wish my kneel down hydro turned right like that .
We run Top ‘o Michigan with Wood and glass runabouts , but Kevlar Sleeves and pants are required.
Near Seattle, we locally run
The Kenmore Cup hydroplane exhibition but now only a timed event anymore.
Remember , this was 15:00 , they were on knees for 1:15:00 while doing all that body English.
Try watching on your knees.
You will “feel “other boats behind you with your foot .
Bet the girls video had some great moments as she nosed those trees at key turns.
That was amazing..5 stars to counterweight driver such agility and strength..never seen anything like it.. thanks for sharing 👍..
Dude, that was freaking awesome. Great job by the two of you.
You two are awesome. This is sidecars mixed with sprint boats an can tell people do try to respect each other when racing which is how it should be :)
Yall are an awesome team, great racing action, looks like a blast to do. Thanks for the video, from Texas
Many kudos to that driver. With a hood ornament like that I would have crashed into the first turn. This is really fun to watch on a big screen! Great video!
Insane video. My heart was in my throat on every turn.
Didn’t know about dinghy derby until this video. Good stuff!
first time I've seen this. Very cool! It's really a lot like motorcycle sidecar racing..
Good job guys Was great to watch Thanks for uploading 🤟
This looks like so much fun! I have always said I wanted to visit this beautiful country. Well done!
You guys are absolutely crazy. Great vid!
that would be some fun you two work well together
This was pretty cool to watch. These guys def know to fly thru the tight turns in the water. Kudos to the racers.
😮 You two are awesome! And you have mad skills.
That is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! Saving for tix to Australia just to try that!
Thrilling ride, well deserved victory. Wish I knew about this when I lived in Adelaide.
The sportsmanship is epic
You people are NUTS and having way too much fun. This is "motocross" on water. 😁
I had to watch your race twice. The first time I was a bit distracted by the "scenery." Absolulely wonderful. The second time was to see what I missed while being distracted the first time. Pardon the pun, but you two have some serious balls. One small mistake and you would have been done for.
Great effort from both!!!
I never knew this existed, it looks a right blast and great fun! 👍
You guys are amazing!
Outstanding teamwork, folks!
