Vermax is a younger dragon, bonded from birth to Jace Velaryon. He has olive green scales and pale orange wing membranes.
Meleys, nicknamed the Red Queen, is a she-dragon ridden by Princess Rhaenys Targaryen. Covered in scarlet scales, she has accents of bright copper. It is her unique coloring for which she received her nickname. In her youth, she is said to have outpaced even Caraxes and Vhagar.
Arrax was one of the smallest of the dragons. He and his dragonrider, Luke Velaryon, died in an exchange with Vhagar and her rider, Aemond Targaryen.

So what we learned in the realm of GoT is that every time 3 dragons leave Dragonstone, only 2 of them return.

I like how Arrax has to flap his tiny wings more frequently than the two larger dragons to produce enough lift. The dragons in this show are animated so well. That and the sound design and attention to detail makes them look very believable.
He was just so small!! They were both babies!!! Luc was Arrax’s first and only rider. They were babies!!
Side note though that is one thing I really loved about Caraxes! They gave him a high pitched roar which would make sense being that he has a longer neck. Naturally his pitch would be higher with a longer neck than say Syrax or Vhagar.
I dunno, I respectfully believe the Dragons in GoT were animated often better

Think of how close some of those dragons were ✨ 🐉 So sad that in GOT there’s only 3 known living ones… for now, really hoping if a clutch of eggs hasn’t been laid yet that it will soon & that there’s baby dragons by the time ‘A Dream of Spring’ is published (IF it’s ever published 😫💔)
It gave me chills that Ramin didn't use the full unedited Targaryen theme until this moment.
I think this belongs to the dragons because it only sounds when they are flying.

I loved how Jace appeared first. He has suddenly become so much more confident. I think seeing what Aemond has become really lit a fire under him to start taking what’s going to happen next seriously. Like when he was sparing with Luke he seemed like a completely different person then in episode 8. He even stood up to Daemon for a minute.
Jace has always been confident though. In the kids fight he was the one to defend the girls and always on the attack, then at the dinner table in red keep he walked up to aemond after the insult and punched him. Jace has always been brave. Don’t forget his sword fight with the much older aegon in the yard when they were training

@@hazeinheavenyeah but jace uses that to his advantage against the greens he is really smart and tactical he saw exactly how good aemond was and was pushing himself and Luc in their training plus he is basically the reason his younger brothers survived to get the throne he also was holding everything together while rhaenyera mourned for a while and couldn’t do much. This boy would’ve been a very smart king another jaeharys in my eyes however with the open minded of women can rule to.

When the two larger dragon cross the screen, Meleys actually shakes the screen, showing it is much larger. The attention to detail is impressive.
"Blood of my Blood" is not only my favourite score from the entirety of GOT, but its definitely the best theme for Daenerys as well as House Targaryen. Great job Ramin, you did amazing as always with a legendary theme.
The score is beautiful it makes you feel something wich i can't explain in words...

When you scale him up to Meleys and Vermax, it really puts into persepctive how absolutely fucked Arrax was versus Vhagar.

A very melancholic scene especially when you know what happens. The music just hits with the sunlight on the ocean and everything.

Since i got spoiled that Luke would die, and throughout the episode i started to get sure that it was this episode, i got emotional everytime he got on screen, but the moment i really lost it is when i saw how small Arrax is😭he literally had no chance against Vhagar, but that aside, the dragons flying away with the Targaryen team song omg absolutely amazing but idk how i will ever get oclver Lucerys’ death, they really just killed Rhaenyra’s sweet baby boy like that😭

The last part with young Luc and Arrax going into the storm clouds is so sad and foreboding. It was the last time.
I love how Arrax is clearly less stable in the air than Meleys and even Vermax. Yeah Luke can ride him but realistically Arrax should be nowhere near danger yet, too small.
I love how Prince Lucerys looks back at the castle as if he wants to wave goodbye to his mother for the last time 😢😢😢. RIH Prince.
I'm a little sad that Meleys is only a little larger than Vermax. She's an old dragon so she should be way larger.

Could just be me overanalyzing things, but the use of "Blood of my Blood" here feels more melancholic compared to when it was used in GOT. Here, there's like a layer of sadness to it, because you know Lucerys won't be returning to Dragonstone. While in GOT there's a sort of majestic, heroic tone befitting both Daenerys and the power of House Targaryen.

I really don’t get why Rhaenyra didn’t send Meleys and Rhaenys to Borros. Rhaenys IS a Baratheon, she’s Borros’s first cousin. Their parents were siblings from Rogar. Who’s going to command more presence and respect from Borros Baratheon, Prince Aemond One-Eye, speaking for the “King” Aegon, or Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, the Queen Who Never Was, daughter of Jocelyn Baratheon, speaking for the Queen who Borros’s father swore to as the rightful heir, telling Borros how she escaped the forced viewing by the smallfolk of Aegon’s unlawful coronation on dragonback?
Rhaenyra of course couldn’t have known that Vhagar would be there, but Meleys, had she sent Rhaenys, could have taken Vhagar likely. And could DEFINITELY have outflown Vhagar. Which might have prevented certain later events that work against Rhaenyra, and dramatically changed how the war would play out.
I think she made the decision to send Luke because she underestimated how inclined the lord of the Seven Kingdoms were loyal to her simply because they or their predecessors swore to her. She assumed that Borro's father swearing feality to her and not providing any compensation for Borrows himself was enough. Along with that, I think she underestimated how dangerous sending Luke would be because of Dragonstone not being that far from Storm's End in comparison to where Jace and Rhaenys were headed.
Characters don't always make perfect decisions. Otherwise we wouldn't have a show.
Meleys wouldn't have needed to outflow Vhagar.... can't imagine Aemond daring to bother Rhaenys.
No Meleys really couldn't take Vhagar in a fight, at the very least not without being killed as well. Definitely could run circles around her tho yeah
I’m guessing Rhaenyra and Daemon would want Rhaenys nearby incase of an attack or assault on dragonstone. Syrax and Caraxes would be the only adult dragons, they’d be outnumbered by Vhagar, Sunfyre and Dreamfyre.

Everything about this scene just encapsulates House Targaryen at its height.

A little detail I noticed the creators did is the direction each is flying. Given the Storm Lands is southwest luke flies to the left while Jace flies to the right towards the Eyrie. Spot on 👌🏽

Fun fact: Drogon in GoT should've actually been similiar to Arrax' size or even smaller, considering his age.

but remember that Arrax was kept in Dragon Pit and Drogon was flying freely eating whatever he wanted and dragons which were kept in dragon pit at that time started to grow slower so Drogon had right to grow faster he was bigger that his brothers because Daenerys chained them
@@queenxx1690 Danaerys' dragons also spent plenty of time in cages, tents, ships, carts and whatnot. I think this is a poor excuse to have her dragons grow so fast.
And again, they *should've* been smaller. Dragons in the books simply don't grow that fast.

Oh the wing span is spectacular.
I really wanted Lucerys to have an impact in the war, I really loved to see an underdog.
One of my few criticisms I have for the show is that they have not shown enough of the bond between individual riders and their dragons.
They have had hints but I want to see the deeper bond and connection they share. Similar to what we have seen with Daemon and Caraxes, but more. A darker more twisted How to train your Dragon style bond, that between a human and their very close pet/best friend.
Honestly I could watch an entire season of just Dragon Riders spending time with their Dragons. No politics or playing the game of thrones, just Dragon and Rider chilling out and doing Dragon Rider things.

I could live with the fact that we probably will never fully know the secrets behind the bonding between the Targaryens/Valyrians and the dragons and the control of them, but now they said they don't have control of them, so wtf then?! Now they need to clarify this. Because the books never said something like this.
