Ryde Units Recycling - SL022

Here we see the first video for 2015 to my channel featuring SL022 from the ryde fleet, collecting recycling at the heavy units area of Gladesville on a sunny and wet Tuesday morning. I managed to get this video on the Tuesday two days before Christmas and as you will see in the vid there is a small Santa hat attached to the cab near the window to give this truck some festive appeal. Behind the wheel we see a garbo veteran in Ryde, Olsen who has been driving this truck since the start of the contract way back in 2006. Another reason why Olsen is a veteran in the garbo game as he has been working in Ryde as a garbo since the early 1980's and Olsen knows the streets of Ryde like the back of his hand. I had a good chat to him and he will be staying as a garbo for the new Ryde contract starting this year which is good to hear as he is a great mate of mine and all the Ryde boys and also a quality operator.
As you will see in the video the units area's can become quite heavy especially with the recycling and all the large cardboard boxes that dont quite pack smoothly with this trucks packer. Also being so close to Christmas time recycling gets heavy as people have to get rid of all the extra packaging associated around Christmas time. Most of the bins here are pretty packed and as you will notice there are more recycle bins than garbage bins out, part of the reason is people have just gone mad with recycling as they are choosing to use the yellow bin for everything recyclable or non recyclable.
SL022 is on its third and last load for the day in this video and collections were pushed back in time a little later than usual on this day, due to hold up of trucks and material being processed at the Polytrade recycling facility at Rydalmere where these trucks tip off. Got this vid around 10:30 and this truck finished up for the day at around 11am due to the truck being fully packed out. SL022 is a really good truck that has had one driver from the start in it and has been looked after really well for its age. You can really see how smooth this truck runs and how it could easily go for another 4 years without no major issues.
