    Hi Darren great video... On my leaflets I've got... If you have a window cleaner please remain loyal... so on the rare occasion I get any grief, I say read my leaflet..
    it's my company policy not to take another man's work , but if their customer doesn't like the job they're doing, it's their fault. I know most of the window cleaners around us and we're all mates. In fact if any of them get sick or have an accident the rest of us step in and keep their round going.

    I have cleaned a house next door to a window cleaner for two years now, I actually speak to the guy. We agree that there is enough work to go round.. well yesterday his mom came out and accused me of robbing work from him 😂 the old dear didn’t half have a go.. I asked the lady of the house I clean why she uses me rather than him and she said .. “ because your a better window cleaner” 😉

    about 10 yrs ago I had a bloke (bucket bob)that was canvassing down a street that I do about sixteen 3-4 bed detached houses in and he said to me "im the new window cleaner round here, YOU DONT CLEAN WINDOWS DOWN HERE ANYMORE"...….it was at this point my 6'6" (vin diesel lookalike) brother popped his nut round the corner of the house we were cleaning and looked at the geezer and said "whats that nobhead?"......the bucket bob then shuffled off down the street never to be seen again...lmao, we lost 0 customers on that street, I still clean them to this day.

    Hi Blake, nothing will happen in England until councils realize that there is money to be made from 'licencing' The issue is not so much the licencing but the policing of it to ensure that spot checks are carried out and those in breach are dealt with accordingly. The issue with mobilization is that many many window cleaners still like some cash in hand work and don't want the Government bodies looking too closely at what they're doing so they want to stay below the radar and not draw attention to themselves. There is no quick and easy solution to this one I'm afraid.

    Wow!! I have absolutely no issue with people posting leaflets round areas I clean, they've every right too, some of my customers come out and warn me that they've seen another window cleaner trading on 'My Patch' 😂😂😂 I've helped out local window cleaners on occasions if they've ever fallen ill to keep their round going and am sure they would chip in and do the same for me, so glad I've never experienced the nonsense you have, great video mate

      Phil Muggeson ive had that too ‘just to let you know someones been leafleting this road, hes cheaper than u but u just dont know who your gonna get these days’ out of the mouth of babes. I have no concerns people canvassin my work, my customers are loyal and more than half my round are on direct debit so they prob cant be bothered changing anyway, not that they would cos im the best in town lol...ahem

    Had someone approached one of my employees last week. So a bit of a timely video you've posted. Completely agree with everything you have said.
    The licencing in Scotland isn't as enforced as it should be. Still plenty of shady operators around my area unfortunately.

    Great vid as per usual, I must have at least 15/20 window cleaners in and around the local area to me and have no problems at all! In fact I live in a large cul de sac, and if I’m in when this one bloke comes to clean the majority of the neighbours windows I always invite him in for a brew and have a good old natter.

    Most of the lads around me are really good. One even got me to do his mother in law as it took him to long to do as she kept him talking. I make a point of waving to all the window cleaners especially the the type you were talking about. It drives them mad.

    Everything u said agree with 100% - although down here in the south east ive not really had a problem with ‘turf wars’ ive literally cleaned houses where another windie was working literally next door..awquard, but they never say a word. I would say im not cheap either, yet im pickin up other window cleaners work now and again, what does that say? Its not always price its the reliability/quality work they want. Classic one today, blokey comes up to me and says ‘are u taking anymore work?’ I told him im always taking on work, turns out his old windies were pikeys and he didnt like them anyway lol, charged him £1 p/m job, direct debit...bosh!

    Haha dealt with this myself a few times! Usually its the fellas jumping on in the summer hoping for some beer money... i work with my dad so don't like him dealing with any of that side, just dont allow yourself to be bullied and you will be fine. Shocking that we don't have any barriers to entry that would take care of the pretenders and allow us who do it for an actual living to earn more and grow quicker, and would stop alot of trouble. Scotland miles ahead of us in this regard.

      Salty McSaltee i used to live and clean in the highlands (now in kent), never checked though, but i have heard of stories that others had and became out of the job. I wish they would do it all over the UK though really sieve out all the rats in the game, the ones who give us professionals a bad look.

    So as they are issued with a license are they then allocated a “patch” if not then how will licensing stop so called “turf wars”

    • @Darren-Green
      @Darren-Green  Před 6 lety +3

      You'd like to think that the 'type' of person passing Police Checks isn't the kind of bucket bob that thinks turf wars are OK. Perhaps it would lead to a better quality of person on the strip. ?? Who knows? If they were allocating patches I'd have my wallet out and be bidding for them all tomorrow if policed properly.

    From a Scottish cousin Darren - licensing still doesn't give you a "patch" just authorizes you to work in an area. No-one has the authority to give you the "friendly warning" line!
    Would be a better system if it was national or actually enforced.
