For years we’ve been led to believe that Aang is The Last Airbender. What reason do we have to believe otherwise? The Western, Northern, and Eastern Air Temples have all been ransacked, abandoned, or transformed for other uses. We saw how Monk Gyatso turned out so we can only assume the same happened to everyone else. But what if I were to say Aang wasn’t the last airbender and we have proof that he isn’t?
In The Legend of Korra, we witnessed the Harmonic Convergence, or an event when the planets align and the spirit world reconnects with the physical. Soon after this event, we saw a new generation of Airbenders rise out of nowhere. Where did they come from? That’s where our answer lies as there’s no way a new Airbender could appear unless they were direct descendants of the original Air Nomads!
So in today’s CBR ATLA Theory video, we are going to look at how the original Air Nomads survived the Sozin Comet attacks, and where they disappeared until the re-emergence of Airbenders in the time of The Legend of Korra. I also may have a big bombshell that will change how you view the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series. If you’re ready for all that hen buckle up let's get this video started! After we finish I want to hear your thoughts. Also, please leave a like on this video, subscribe, and hit the notification bell so you never miss a CBR Avatar video from us. Thanks for watching!

Also, having knowledge of how Chi flows seems to be more or less exclusive to the Air Nomads. Air nomads' tattoos are representative of the chi pathways. No other culture really focused on chi in that way. It would make sense that, while Ty Lee's air nomad ancestor couldn't teach air bending, they passed on the knowledge of chi. But by the end of the original trilogy, there were only a few that we know of. The time frame in Avatar is more than 3x as long. Case in point, it’s possible either way. my theory is that aang’s old friend Kuzon helped save/ hide an air nomad refugee from the war in the fire nation, specifically from the western air temple as they east and west were all female and the western air temple was very close to the sun warriors and fire nation in general, also as we see in korra there were fire nation acolytes who hid air culture and teachings like breeding bison. Kuzon was one of aangs best friends and so i think it’s safe to assume when war broke out he was NOT in support of killing air nomads. he probably helped a bunch but fell in love with one and had a family, since kuzon was friends with aang also he could have been an elite member of fire nation society as aang was the avatar, even tho he didn’t know it the leaders did when he was a baby and he traveled with gyatso who was also friends with roku, who was of upper society. i think they were able to hide it well enough and keep enough of the history under wraps but within the family hence why ty lee knows chi blocking, i think she fixed up her acrobatics in the circus but i beleive she knew chi blocking since being a child and that’s why in flashbacks she would do back flips and stuff, her family teaching her self defense in secret but hiding it as just a gymnastics hobby.

I think your theory is spot on! I have often wondered myself how could no air nomads survived when they are in fact nomads and had flying bison. In the comic and in Legend of Korra they touch on how not all bison where eliminated and how they were secretly raising them, so if thats the case "how could they hide huge bison and yet air nomads couldnt?". As humans wouldnt it be easier for them to blend in with other nations? So yeah, I agree.
Being that the series was called "the last airbender" they couldnt just show more of them, but as you pointed out there is no real evidence that they were all wiped out or that they were not able to just blend in with other nations. There's also a plot hole on how the new air benders in LOK came to be. Harmonic conversion did not create benders, it was the lion turtles that had the ability to release or block (when they took their powers back) their CHI. Another way could be how Guru Pathik helped aang unblock his Chi to become the avatar. So it would make more sense that a Guru like the onion soup eating Pathik (bleh) lol could help future air benders unblock their Chi, aka air bending.

I think there is another hypothetical point to tai lee being an air nomads decendent, where there is great existential trauma, many children tend to arise from what i can tell by looking at familys over the span of my life, a human being seeing most of his brethren being slaughtered will most like have a hightened and intense energy set for procreation and if you see that beside the fact that tailee has many siblings it just makes more sense to me for this to be true

I actually agree to this theory. To begin with i always thought that it was weird that all the airbenders were killed by the fire nation. Like, couldn't they fly away with their stick. I mean, i'm sure some kids could have escaped while the teachers were opposing the fire nation.
As regard Ty Lee i never thought of it but i LOVE IT very much. She never paired with Azula, she is kind of heart and really similar to Aang. I think she would have maid a great AirBender if she would have appeared in Korra.

You got the air temples mixed up. The southern air temple, which Aang was from, is where Gyatso’s remains were found. The western is the deserted air temple with all the upside-down buildings. The eastern air temple was only shown during meetings with Guru Pathik. Probably doesn’t really matter, but the more you know.
