In the scene where Zuko is talking to Iroh in the prison, pretty much every shot of Zuko has him appearing to be behind bars, in the dim light. Shots of Iroh almost never have bars/make him look free because Iroh isn't really the one in a cage.

You missed Zuko´s techniques during the final Agni Kai. While fighting Azula, he evades like an airbender, stands his ground like an earthbender, and redirects lightning, a technique inspired by waterbenders. Zuko had an Avatar journey of his own.

@@azumarill964 I think its because all the story beats were planned out from the very beginning. Its the perk of being a finite series. They only planned on a 4 season series, however the last season never came to be outside of the comics. They made changes as the show went on, such as adding suki as a secondary character rather then a one episode one off, but they still had each major beat planned out and knew what to foreshadow.

He always did incorporate other bending techniques into his fighting. For example, in the fight in the abbey we can see Aang and Zuko use the exact same bending move within seconds of each other, when he challenges Azula to an Agni Kai the first time, he attacks with a distinctly waterbending looking move, that his fire whips with which he fights in the catacombs aren't an original firebending move is pretty obvious, he uses his breakdance move both as a fire kata (final agni kai) and in hand to hand combat (agni kai with Zhao), I've never seen alyone else use fire daggers, and those are only the ones I remember from the top of my head. His strength never lay in raw power, but rather his incredible versatility.

  • @WlngDlngBat

There’s also how Zuko sleeps. When he’s alone or with people he doesn’t trust, he sleeps on his burned side, and allows his uninjured ear to hear things while he sleeps. When he’s with Iroh or the gang, he lets the injured ear show, proving he trusts them enough to be on lesser guard.

  • @Phanthief95

Another detail you forgot to mention is Zuko’s honor & his Agni Kais.
In an Agni Kai, it’s a one on one firebending duel where the loser is unable to fight or yields. Zuko, while being considered the dishonorable prince, actually had more honor than any of his opponents.
First, he faced Ozai, & in it he surrendered. However, Ozai refused his surrender and scarred him. Then, he faced Zhao, who struck at Zuko after he lost. Finally, he faced Azula, who aimed her lightning at Katara, who was not a part of the fight.
In all 3, Zuko’s opponents showed more dishonor than the dishonored prince.

one thing i noticed is that when Zuko tries to firebend as a kid he can barely get out a flame. It is similar to when he tries to train Aang for the first time. My theory is that back when he was a kid he already had the idea that fire came from rage as he grew up to believe due to his family's nature. However he did not have that rage as a kid and so he could not produce the flames that he wished for because he was not angry enough. We do not see any more of his fire bending from around that time but i feel like his abilities probably would have started to go up soon after that scene since his mom disapeared within the next few days.

When Azula is skating across the ground on her fire, circling Zuko as he attempts to blast her, notice how she always moves towards his left side. By this time Azula had already demonstrated she was a better bender and fighter than Zuko ("early to bloom") so her uncle really insulted her... thankfully she was a psychopath so she didn't take his idiocy too personally, at the time.

another great point of foreshadowing for Azulas mental health and success is actually her hair. One of the earliest scenes have her depicting practicing lightning bending before her teachers, and they say something along the lines "almost perfect, only a single strand of hair out of place", to which she replies "almost perfect isn't good enough", perfectly setting up her character as a perfectionist hard on herself. However, unbeknown to us then, that scene tells us exactly what we are suppose to look for: her hair.
Every time she lighting bends, one of her strands get out of place. But there is a scene where she has no strand out of place - and that is when she shoots aang in book 2 finale. Earlier that season, she conquers ba sing se by disguising herself as a kyoshi warrior - who have the tightest hairstyle in the series. So the two instances where she has done perfect, are the times her hair is shown perfect.
Then it goes on to book 3, where they make it very obvious. When she looses at the air temple, the animators deliberately made the choice to let her hair down. It could have been easily rewritten that she just held on to a easily grabbable stone, or it would be in character for her to carry a knife on her person. Yet she is seen using her crown / letting her hair down. Ultimately, that leads up to the finale, where she cuts off her hair.
There are smaller instances of this, for example the beach scene compared to the day of black sun, or her hair almost going wild when ty lee and mai betray her, which honestly, is an amazing detail.

ok so, when guru pathik is talking about chakras the first one he say is: "The earth chakra, located at the base of the spine, it deals with survival and is blocked by fear." and what Aang fears most was Ozai. but when Azula shot Aang at the base of the spine he almost blocked the chakra because he almost lost his survival. then when Aang was fighting Ozai, whom he feared the most, he was hit in the base of the spine from surrendering his fear from Ozai and then regained access to the avatar state. personally I find this the best detail and if it doesn't make sense you can reply to me. :)

And in the final battle, Aang’s eyes glowed the entire time (while he was destroying a bunch of rocks to get to Ozai) but his eyes only flashed when he used the water to put out the fire that Ozai had caused, showing that he had more control at that time (and the water movements were really gentle calm during that scene!). This show really shaped me as a person. Especially since I was young when this came out, i saw more than just “cool animation” for its time. I understood the deep messages and understood that it was more than just entertainment purposes. This is literally a life lesson in a show.
Aang teaches us to forgive, even the ones who have hurt us the most.
Katara have showed us growth, and that life SHOULDNT always be taken too seriously (especially at her age because she was forced to grow up since she lost her mother)
Sokka taught us that just because we are different, it doesn’t make us any less special. (Him not having powers)
Toph taught us that having a disability doesn’t make us less capable.
Zuko taught us that pride sometimes gets the best of us but that we are still human, and that love and acceptance is key for anyone, even people considered “bad”
These were the basic things I learned as a kid. And then growing up and rewatching it made this show even more beautiful for me; especially with minor details. This show all in all is a masterpiece. And it’s one of the best cartoons of all time.

One detail a lot of fans might have missed, is how Sokka knew that the Spirit World has no bathroom in it.
Back to S1E7, Sokka was abducted by Hei Bei, the forest guardian spirit (when it was in it's dark form). By the episode's end, Sokka returned to the mortal world, seeking for bathroom as he needed to go to one because he had to either pee or poop.
Fast forward to S3E6, while Aang was in the Spirit World with Avatar Roku, the former's physical body positions itself as if he was pooping, leading Katara to asking for the presence of bathrooms in the Spirit World. Sokka then quickly answers, "As a matter of fact, they don't." Meaning, Sokka might have tried to find bathroom in the Spirit World as he has been in that world for quite a long time that hee needed to go to one when he was abducted, and was unable to find.
Another one is that, Yue means moon in Chinese and Suki means moon, also, but in Japanese. So you can clearly say that Sokka has a thing with the moon.

Why did they cut the scene where sokka was slapped by the fish, thats hillarious! 🤣

Another thing to note. Toph tightly holds onto Sokka whenever they're on water because she's unable feel what's going on

I just have to say that the betrothal Katara wears, was Kanna's (Katara's grandmother), not Kya's (Katara's mother)

Kanna gave it to Kya who gave it to Katara, so technically at some point it had been Kya’s
(I may be wrong on this, I haven’t watched ATLA in a while)

the lion turtle that aang saw was the lion turtle that gave the first avatar fire bending you can tell because of the mark on its forehead

A favorite of mine that I recently noticed was during the Avatar Day episode. When the village brought out Aang's float, the guy who threw the fire hit the floats left eye and the flames travelled back to the ear, forshadowing Zuko's time as Aang's firebending teacher
