Avatar the Last Airbender is a true sight to behold. It is one of Nickelodeon’s greatest shows to date. It was followed up by Legend of Korra, a continuation on the world of Avatar that, while it may be flawed, was very good in it’s own right. Though, Korra takes place 70 years after the events of Airbender. What exactly happened between then and now? Well, a lot actually. For starters, Aang started a family with Katara and had three kids; Bumi Kya and Tenzin. Tenzin would go on to be an Airbender and start his own family of airbenders in an attempt to bring the lost nation back. Zuko started his family with Mai and had a daughter who would become the new Firelord. While all of these developments are good things, there were a few bumps along the way. During LOK, Korra would have to face off against two great threats; Amon and Zaheer, who set out to destroy Korra and the society she is meant to protect. These villain’s motivations and backstories begin far before Korra though and have to do with things Aang did in the time before ATLA and LOK. Today we are going to take a deep dive into the events that took place between these two great shows. We will cover the lives of Team Avatar after the war and what happened to them before Korra was born. We will also look at the formation of Republic City, an important city that was part of the Harmony Restoration Project.

I would be happy to watch a series of the Avatar cast as adults and their adventures. Nickelodeon really missed a good opportunity to make one.
Sadly a season 4 was in the works and placed on hold for the 2010 live action movie after the bad reviews they left it alone and then came back in 2014 with korra
Robby Rodriguez that’s what I thought too until a while back when Michael Dante tweeted that it was false. He said something like Atla was always meant to be 3, a beginning, middle, and end there were no plans for a fourth season. What I really would like is if they animated the comics, the comics were so good and each three part comic would have a little more then an hour if animated, so each part of a comic could’ve been its own episode. It seems a bit coincidental that each part of comic would just so happen to be the perfect length of an episode.
wasnt nickelodeon’s choice, the original writer wrote avatar: LTA only to have 3 seasons. if nick were to have a sequel it would have completely diff writers and be different
@@robbyrodriguez616 They are actually creating a season 4 is what the original creators posted on twitter a few weeks back after the live action series

Toph parenting style was not “chaotic” she gave them the freedom her parents didnt give her. Only problem is that her kids felt like she was never there for them
Yep,That Was Her Only Problem
Toph didn't have *enough* freedom.
She gave her children *too much* freedom.
Mr.Deksam oh yeah your right
Yes peni came bk to thos bitch after all this shit laugh it up
Toph received too much attention from her parents to the point where her parents didn’t really listen to or know her at all. Toph gave her children so little attention that she met the same fate as her parents did with her.
I really wish we got to see more of Katara and Aang’s relationship like their wedding

Hard to believe out of everyone Zuko was probably the best parent to his children out of everyone! 😂😂😂
I mean from what her children say and how they treat her katara seems to have been a good parent to all her kids. I know kya and bumi didnt really feel like aang was a good father to them but I dont remember anything that implied katara was also complicit in that biased parenting. Also idk if there was any discussion on zuko as a parent during the show? The only thing we see is him preparing to fly back to the fire nation to protect izumi from zaheer, but other than that I dont remember anything implying he was a good or bad parent
Well zuko had the worst bio parent he also had the best parent of all in iroh

Bruh they did the homie Sokka bad, you mean to tell me that after everything that happened in ATLA, Suki and him never settled down and had at least 1 child? I mean wtf?
Sokka was probably on team abolish all babies he never seemed like he’d be good with kids
I haven't heard confirmation one way or another about it, but I've wondered a few times if they just ended up parting ways at some point. Even with how much chemistry and bonding there is in many relationships, sometimes things just don't work out down the road, for any number of reasons. I'm sure that would leave many fans fuming if it were canon, but the creators have shown that they're not just going to hand every main character a fairy tale ending.
Twitchystomp my thing is, is how are they gonna have everyone else settle down and have kids but not sokka? It just seemed really unfair to me, but I can agree with you that not everyone gets to have a fairy tale ending but I’m just saying it’s unfair. PS I wouldn’t have cared if he didn’t have a kid with suki, I would have been satisfied if he would have at least had one kid from someone different.
Life is not a fairy tale, good people can be bad parents, thats just life, you are the same people who wanted game of thrones end with dany and jon married with kids and happy ending
Maybe he didn't want kids
Nickelodeon could do a series called “the in between” for what happened in between avatar the last air bender and legend of Korra.
Or call it "searching for the seashore" and make it a short season about Sokka looking for his destiny and eventually finding his chosen one at the seashore with Sokka trying to become a master in different things and trying to find his purpose but then when he meets her he doesn't want to have a purpose anymore

I feel like the last airbender was more Asian type of style which everybody liked I think, and legend of Korra was very like they were from New York
yeah, the last air bender is more of an inspiration of chinese and native culture
This is the most accurate description
Literally exactly what i thought
More like Asian culture under imperialism or western influence. Reminiscent of Japan/China in the 1920s and 1930s.
Plus a dash of New Yorkan Italian mob vibes

Everyone is dying for a season 4 about their adult years, but the creators are refusing to create an animated series for it. Money is probably (as almost always) the reason, but what if we as fans started some kind of fundraising for the animated series and make it a webshow? It doesn’t matter if it gets on table television or not right? We just want to watch the gang and how they are doing. If every fan would just donate 1 dollar, it would be more than enough.
Bro do you know how much money it takes to make these types of animations? If we donated 500 dollars each we would still have a slight crappy animation....
Money is a good reason. But I also think the creators wanted to quit while they're ahead. They knew Avatar the last airbender was really good and They didn't want to risk losing audiences by continuing it badly. They probably knew Korra would not be received well by audiences. Just my opinion.
@@jacquietimms3075 I understand what you’re saying but at the same time Korra was only received badly or “different” because it was such a gapin the years,

Some corrections are required.
1 - Mai and Suki both have no further mention from when they have their most recent appearances in the comics. The creator of the comics advised that Mai and Zuko did get back together 3 years later. Likewise, Mike and Bryan, the creators of the show advised that Sokka and Suki "moved to the suburbs" and presumably means they had a relatively drama free life. Other than that, there is nothing more known of either character.
2 - It is known that Sokka became a chieftain, possibly overall chieftain, of the Southern Water Tribe, which he would have been a leading candidate for, presumably after his father. Between the trial of Yakone, and between his confrontation with the Red Lotus, Sokka almost certainly moved back to the South Pole, to assume the mantle of Chief, as Katara returned to the Southern Water Tribe to be with her brother, after Aang's death. He confronted the Red Lotus when Korra was around 4-5 with Zuko, Tenzin and Tonraq.
3 - Toph had two daughters with two different men, and had a tumultuous home life, with both her daughters having very strained relationships with her, due to her explicitly attempting to keep father figures from their lives to ensure they lived lives as free as possible, and also due to the extremely strained relationship between her daughters who had very different outlooks on life.
4 - Sokka fathering Suyin would have been exceedingly unlikely. She was born two years before the trial of Yakone, and Toph was working alongside Sokka for all this time. This would have required both Sokka and Katara not knowing the paternity (very unlikely considering the level of involvement between the Bei Fongs and the Avatar's family), or Katara and Sokka choosing to remain outside her life (a known impossibility). Moreover, she lived in Republic City until she was 16, descending into a life of crime. This too, would have required an extremely uncharacteristic degree of apathy and disconnection, from both Sokka and Katara. Sokka and Katara are two characters whose entire character arcs revolved around the importance of family and parenthood.
5 - Zaheer and the Red Lotus never intended to free Vaatu. This was the individual plan of Unalaq, who turned on the organization and helped imprison Zaheer and the others. Zaheer and the Red Lotus were a group formed from the teachings of Master Xai Bau, which rejected the White Lotus' public status as subservient bureaucrats, in favor of a silent organization which operated outside the structure of nations, and free of nations and rulers. Zaheer and the mainstream Red Lotus had nothing to do with Wan and Vaatu. The only involvement that the Red Lotus had with Raava was a desire to end the Avatar Cycle, as the Red Lotus perceived the Avatar as the ultimate figure of tyranny.
6 - Yakone was stripped of his bending before ever having children. He was a crimelord in Republic City whom Toph arrested, as he was guilty of not only running a Triad, but of Bloodbending, which he had learned how to do without a full moon (which Katara and Hama had always needed). Sokka put Yakone to trial, and pronounced him guilty, but Yakone then bloodbent everyone in Republic City leadership. He was then stripped of his bending by Aang, and fled to the Northern Water Tribe. He raised a family, and began teaching his sons bloodbending when it was discovered they were waterbenders.
Cheers.
yep
The chiefhood of the water tribe (Idont know if the word is correct, sorry for my english) was passed from father to son. The only way Tonrak could become chief of the southern water tribe, after being banished from the north was by marrying the daugther of the chief. If Sokka was chief that means Korra's mother was his daughter. Maybe Sokka had at least one child with Senna. Also, I really believe that Varrick and Suyin are Sokka's children. Suyin because of the color of her skin (darker than her sister and her mother), and Varrick can be son of Sokka and Ty Lee, which also had a crush on Sokka. The personality of Varrick is kind of similar to Sokka's.
@Mateo Colautti True but one of Tophs children does have a Sokka resemblance
Yu Dao (one of the oldest Fire Nation colonies) wasn’t turned into The Republic city, it was an Earth Kingdom town with the Earthen Fire Refinery, even the photos of the coast photos match and the island where Aang and Katara discuss what to do with the town, is the one we see a statue of Aang later in The Legend of Korra. it was even said in wikipedia (not the details tho)
@Basi Okromchedlishvili so Yu Dao is or isn’t Republic City?

They actually do give a name for the Lin and Su’s father, Which is “Kanto”
And, Toph didn’t treat her children harshly, or chaotically. She actually gave them a lot of freedom. Too much freedom, as neither felt that Toph wasn’t really there for them, resulting in them doing acts of seeking attention. Lin tried to follow Toph’s footsteps and became a chief of police, and Su made lots of friends, and sometimes helped in crimes.

if the Netflix live action covered the events and histories of Aang gang after ATLA but before Korra, that would be a great move not just storytelling wise
I agree. The finale of s3 left me with the desire to actually see the aftermath of it. Even though I feel that finale can't be outmatched by any other season they launch but it would be satisfying to see them grow older as their stories go along after the events of ATLA
I think it would be good for the audience because efforts to recreate and retell the story can never match the original (I know Netflix is pledging to be better than the movie, but still), it’s just part of the nostalgia and the perfection ATLA is. But I think more people would wanna see the live action show if it covers new content but events they were curious about from the comics. They may change some things like age up the characters and add different dynamics because it’s live action, but a new story would be better. Less people are willing to watch it if it’s the same story and also people are still salty and distrustful because of the movie.
@@flowerpower1020
Exactly, the same situation is occurring with the one piece live action show they're planning to do on Netflix. Considering the history of anime movies and shows made, they haven't been quite as successful and it leaves the audience a bit doubtful at first but hopefully they'll do a good job

Instead we get to see modern times, the avatar version of the USA with the bridges, skyscrapers and statue of Liberty... yey. Just what you want to see in a fantasy world...
Avatar: The Last Airbender is One of the Best shows ever on Netflix.
Lord Venjix And Nickelodeon
Fuck CBR and their sketch videos. I would greatly appreciate it if you checked out my last avatar videos on my channel cuz I actually think and know they’re good. Trying to grow a community of my own.
@@24Kam. nice baki video (im a HUGE baki fan)
the dark flash007 that means tons man, thank you!
Don't isult large channels just to grow yours, that's pretty stupid.
I am a binge watcher of both avatar and the legend of korra (and the live action ATLA) and I love your information
Legend of Korra just ruined everyone’s adult life, in ATLA.
I miss watching avatar. This is really cool.
@Garjan Fefey Not everybody has it
You can rewatch it on Netflix
I highly recommend getting a Netflix subscription if possible, even for a month only, to be able to watch it with no ads :)
@@KingdomKali Cough cough. KODI. COUGH COUGH GIGABIT internet. But I've seen the show plenty of times. Could watch it again too. I have hulu tho.
@@jas1176 I already have all the comics on e-Book from many years ago.
the directors confirmed that nothing roy happened to sokka and suki
“they just settled down and moved to the suburbs” i believe that either suki or sokka was infertile or didn’t want children but some ppl believe that they did have a waterbending daughter and sokka lived to be at least 69 bc in legend of korra they say that sokka was part of the movement to hide korra from the red lotus and we don’t know how old suki was when she died
mango
That’s just a myth
@mango Ya know that when people say "He/She died young" it can mean that they died in their 40s cuz that's pretty young too
@@onanekacapa yeah, my grandpa died in his 60's and all I heard were people saying that it was a shame he died so young.
mango the creators never confirmed that
@mango that was actually never confirmed but i wouldn’t b surprised if she did
Awesome explanation thank you
Would've been nice with a spiler warning.
I just started watching Korra, and thought this might answer some of my questions as to what happened between the two series, but then had a spoiler form Korra thrown in my face just 1,5 minutes in..
Actually Mai broke up with Zuko after he lied to her abt going to see his father in the comics
mango WHAT?!
@@liannapfister8255 yea. Gene Yang (the Head writer of the comics) confirmed Zuko and Mai got back together 3 years after the broke up.
Tarek Awar Izumi means fountain in the language which is most often associated with the fire nation. And if you remember mai and Zuko first met the series near a fountain and when they are together at a young age they are always near this very fountain. Just a theory though
bruh that ain’t Katara in the thumbnail that’s Joo-Dee dawg 😳
I think you mean yuae

Did you know that brave is one of the only disney movies that has no songs and no love😀

Uncle Iroh: Do sky bisons poop in the air like birds? And have people died from it?

i liked korra's books and villians so much, they were very interesting, they all took ideas that are generally considered good, but took them beyond the extreme, or exposed hypocrisy behind the supposed benevolence
the equality guy was going to destroy anyone who was better than average, and he was also doing it by hypocritically using an insanely advanced bending skill (not true equality)
the spiritual guy was actually manipulating spirits for his own evil agendas, and the balance he claimed to want he instead wanted to til far towards the dark side (not true spirituality)
the anarchy guy supposedly wanted a rulerless society, but he went after korra, whos NEVER been a ruler, just because he considered her too powerful, they also used violence and intimidating to get what they wanted the same as rulers do (not true anarchy)
and the unification girl wanted to supposedly strengthen her country, but she forced all of the towns and people to conform or be 'reeducated' so rather than protecting and strengthening them, she was exploiting and dominating them, and even started invading other independent cities/nations against their will (not true unity)
epic story lines, amazing how it can show that even with good intentions, or justifications taken to violent extremes any ideology can be used to impose horrible violence :( don't be fooled people
"the anarchy guy supposedly wanted a rulerless society, but he went after korra, whos NEVER been a ruler, just because he considered her too powerful, they also used violence and intimidating to get what they wanted the same as rulers do (not true anarchy)" Using violence and intimidation in order to get anarchy and to protect it is the path to true anarchy though, you can just be completely free overnight
@@socracle2774 i don't think so, you can't get anarchy by doing things that violate individual rights, a completely free rulerless (free of coercion and forced servitude) is the only real rulerless society
if most people still believe they must comply with rulers, they will never be free.
regardless going after korra was wrong, she wasn't a ruler, doesn't initiate violence, and isn't imposing on the people. she was innocent
when they killed that earth queen though i was on board ;) fuck that bitch ;)
but tonraq is a small voluntary chief who doesn't even impose taxes, he was also innocent
Meanwhile Appa went pregnant and gave birth to many Bisons.
Appa is a Guy
Ok that’s the joke
In the comics, they found a lost colony of sky bison and lemurs
yes XD
@@lizardrex13 which comic?
I still would've rather saw them grow up in the show then watch the legend of Korra!
Fax
I liked legend of korra
@Tobias ok your mom Didn't ask for you But here we are
It wouldn't work with different voice actors for at least some characters, and because they are older, have more responsibilities, adult problems. It's just impossible to recreate that magic of the original show. LoK's creators were right for not trying to make AtlA 2.0, even though many fans were pissed about it.
I wish but I think it would've messed up the amazingness of the series. 😔 Man, I miss Avatar the last airbender so much!!!!😢😭
why couldnt they just continue the story after book 3? :( the show was extremely successful it doesnt make sense why they couldnt just continue like the comics? theres so much that happened after and they said nah 3 seasons is enough like whyyy 😭
Yes i love this Show, 3 books aren't enough!! 😥
the comic books pick up IMMEDIATELY after the series though. Read through every single one of them and highly recommended.
Uhhh you forgot Aang’s greatest achievement. Being the first avatar to go on that seaside food seller’s Avatar Wall.
Toph's daughters actually have different dads which is mentioned in the third season of Legend of Korra. When we first find out that Lin has a sister she says something like they're "not really related" to which Su basically responds "different dads same mom, that's pretty related." (I don't remember the specific quotes lol)
Different Dads? Well, thats Toph.
@@giselengimbi2705 pretty sure she kidnaped two guys and just banged them XD
Wish they can just make book 4 not tryna read a comic the show is just too good
Incredibility informative!
for those of you who were wondering, the thumbnail of the video is an image of Princess Yue and Sokka, just re-designed(?) to make it look like Aang and Katara. I guess it's to make them look older than they were in the series, but it just looks weird in my opinion.
i know right xd
7:15 That's completely false. Yakone was stripped of his bending because he would bloodbend in republic city where it was illegal. He was able to bloodbend even without a full moon. Afterwards he went to the water tribe, had two kids and taught them to bloodbend to exact revenge on republic city.
3:30 "but by all accounts, Sokka ended up with Suki.."
You mean she Suki suki'd him 😂
i really want a series where we see them grow up and what they did after the war
After being revived from a 100-yeared sleep inside ending a huge war and reuiniting all the nations, I'd probably...
Chill out with Iroh and drink tea all day long. Too much war, too much tension...
The way you worded it made it sound like Yakone had his bending taken away because his kids were water benders. Aang took his bending away because he was terrorizing Republic City with his blood bending. After he found out his sons could water bend he pushed his revenge scheme onto them.
this has been in my watch later since it came out
The fact that Mai and zuko named their child after the fountain they fell in as kids
I feel like the creators really missed an opportunity to make Tenzin a more complex character on screen. His character was so flat in LOK.... I think his backstory of being the only airbender left in this world (aside from the avatar) is such an important concept that they really could have dived deeper into. I also think it’s a bit weird how they named him tenzin which means “keeper of the Dharma” but he doesn’t actually teach any Buddhist philosophies, and he doesn’t really encompass the dharma at all, he just teaches Korra air bending. I think equating airbending to the dharma was a bit of a bold move for them to pull. It just shows that the west in general knows nothing about Buddhism. I feel like putting some of these eastern concepts under a western lens, especially when you’re using them as “creative elements” instead of what they actually are, really flattens a lot of eastern concepts the show used.
I don't want Aang to die he was so cool and a great character in the show
Is there one even being worked on ?
But he died
Bashir Dolal ripp in the legend of korra
Cheater a3 yup! Netflix is producing a live action film.
Khryssi05 bruh live action the last one was complete rhino balls
For those saying that angle is a bad father you can't really blame him for always having to do his Avatar duties and if you really want a bad father look at zuko's father.
Zuko's father literally challenged his son to an Agni Kai and then burned his face because he wouldn't fight back
Toph's daughters have two different father's, sue is Lin's half sister
I really need to check out these Avatar comics
The Avatar "The Last Airbender " Rocked !
"I've been dying to ask you, what happened to Zuko's mom?"

katara: well jinora ther's a great comic about that
@@starryshining Katara: "Well Jinora, ther's a great comic about that. Buy it now and you get a 25% discount!"

Just realized that Toph is basically Yoda. Hiding out in a forest waiting to guide the chosen one along their path... Plus green earth nation apparel. 😱😱
HERE IS SOMETHING IMPORTANT: Armon didn’t take me home peoples bending like Ang, Ang permanently took away bending while Armon only took bending away until another blood bender come along to unblock the chi channels
people didn’t know this?
Amon still took it permanently lol. It can get reversed by an energy bender, not a water bender. Katara couldn't fix it and she's the best water bender to exist.
CBR: What happened in the 70 years between Aang and Korra.
Me: Simple, LIFE HAPPENED.
Badabing badaboom quick 30 second video no need for 10mins
i was starting to doubt i would ever get to see the mystery of zuko's mom in legend of korra. thank you for this
The shade at 3:50, the shade of it all
I’m so sad they stopped making the show they should make a next one after legend of korra
Suki's last appearance was in the Imbalance comics in Cranefish town where she and the rest of the Gaang agreed to stay for a while to build what was known as the Republic City. Maybe that's where the creators meant by "suburbs" that she and Sokka settled. If Suki and Sokka did have kids maybe they moved back to Kyoshi island so that it'll be near the South Pole where Sokka would probably spend most of his time because he was gonna be the chief so I'm just hoping they'd have a happy ending even though they weren't mentioned in LoK. But yeah it's just my opinion and I'm really a fan of their relationship. XD
PS please hear me out creators heheheh
They messed up on a few small details but over all pretty good video
I really wanna see more is the other avatars... the brief story of the first avatar was my favorite part of LOK
This only came out 5 seconds ago but it says there's people who commented 11 hours ago
