Hi Robert Thank you for taking the time to putting out this content,. What you are talking about has been dawning on me for a while now and the way you put it is giving me an interesting access. I feel the fear of fully falling into it and at the same time I'm curious to see what happens. I've seen that you take the time to answer questions and comments, so I'm gonna try my luck as I'd love to hear your thinking about "planing actions and following goals". Often, the goals we make are subdued in a hierarchy of values that we have internalized, influenced by personal and cultural narratives - those again are based on religious ideas or ideas of self-discipline / self-improvement. How do you see these goals and planing co-exist with your worldview / present moment experience?

When A friend called and asked me to watch this, the first thought was "Oh no, another assignment from Joe." , but I'm trying not to be a jerk so I clicked on it. The next thought was "Good grief, an hour and 40 minute video!", but in the effort to not be a jerk I started it. It's exhausting to listen to the intellectualization of spirituality, it's all stuff we already know! It might be important at certain points to be reminded but good grief some of us have been over thinking all this stuff for more than 50 years. Anyway the next thought was that this guy has a really weird haircut. In spite of that I watched it to the end and was pleasantly surprised. It always seems that realization and meditation is served with a giant dollop of bullshit. There always seems to be some crazy improbable cosmology or some other crap, along with weird expectations of what spiritual awakening will be like, when in reality it's completely ordinary. It seems that it's better if the bullshit is really strange because then it's easier to wake up one morning and just reject it all, but possibly keep the realization and just be yourself. This guy Saltzman seems to have minimized the bullshit. After subscribing to his CZcams channel it seemed that reading his book might be in order, but that might just be going to far! 🤠✌

I'd never heard of Rupert Spira, and just checked out a talk of his. Hmm yes, it's all in that "our true nature is..." - in this case "unconditional loving kindness", and "God".

To my understanding it’s not so much that things don’t exist it’s more that they are temporary the more we attach to the temporary the more we suffer. It’s easy to become nihilistic about the world and ourselves but we are here so we may as well live fully just realised it’s all temporary.

I’m interested to hear your notions on god.. i gathered you say you don’t know if it exists.. plus it seems you don’t think others would know either.. I’m interested to understand what you think about the reality of synchronicities & other very personal spiritual experiences. Have you had any? It is not terribly surprising to me why Rick banned this interview (I have been listening and enjoying his interviews for years). As I see it, Rick is religious, embraces metaphysics and is (and has been) a devotee since his TM days; this interview challenges all of that. I think it’s a shame it was deleted because it’s a thought provoking interview. Thanks for making it available.

You also never hear from these non-duality prophets why and how true compassion for others arise either? It is as if non-duality has emerged as the highest and most ideal form of existence devoid of any concern for the welfare of others. Which, ironically return them right back into the fold of duality because all they ever wanted was to attain their own non-duality. Karma is never avoided just because we try to keep a lofty worldview of non-duality. On the contrary, karma of increased ignorance and isolation may very well come our way in the future if our selfishness conjures up a defensive and self righteous view of non-duality, and the like. As a contrast, a genuine love and care for others is the way of a bodhisattva. A bodhisattva truly only cares for the well-being of others and thus cannot help but transcend all limitations of samsara, because of it. That is the path the Buddha pointed out if we seek to liberate ourselves. Generation of a noble heart of true love and compassion will thoroughly connect ourselves with both the world of suffering beings and actually start to teach us something about ourselves rather than sinking our tired minds into lofty ideas such as non-duality or no duality. We must first learn to be a decent human being in order for us to be able to transcend it.

Thank you Robert. Despite considering myself to be a non-dualist Muslim, you remind us all that there are practical limits to non-dualism in the way we conduct ourselves.

Its just a mind game just like all religion look at Jung and Nietzsche. In Jung I have seen my mind work in images all my life but this is me we all could be wrong. But to be the super man the ever evolving man as Jung sees to be in motion seeing the images in your mind understanding them and why they are there. And at points language has no longer ability to point to what you see sometimes.

So the caterpillar is you and its death is what people call your awakening? Because you weren't dropped into a higher self but into an insubstantial person hood.

Yes, "luck" rather than "grace"! But I know one way that luck changes, and it's when someone like Robert tells you, with such humility and clear conviction, that nobody knows where all *this* came from. Just hearing about this - if you're already interested in philosophy or some kind of open-minded "seeker" - provides a stimulus that might lead you to ... dare I say it ... "tune in" ... to now. And that's why Robert's chats are so good, because "tuning in" and all that got so distorted over recent decades (and probably was always distorted) in cosmic explanations and rituals and priestly classes and gurus and steps and stages. Keep on seeking for THAT instead of being with THIS, is what much of it says. And even when it tells us to focus on what is, in the here and now, it attaches all sorts of meanings from traditional teachings or new ideologies, that aren't what IS for us.
