Surely Panasonic will increasingly raise the price bar as it is the top version of the revised S1 series. I estimate a price of $5,00 and above. But at this point it can't compete with a Sony A1, Nikon Z8, Canon R5 (I stuck to models below the top) because of the insufficient optics sector which is what attracts the professional world. It will, without a doubt, be a top video camera, but it will not have that following of pro photographers from the world of news, sports, fashion.

So the sensor looks like a large size version of the GH7. If true, the first real "cine" IQ camera in mirrorless format and FF sensor size. Nothing for me but cool.

I am quietly hoping the filter size wll drop to 72mm to match the 50 1.2 GM, or better still 67mm to match the 35 1.4 GM and 50 1.4 GM. Somehow, I doubt the laws of physics will agree with my wishlist.

I would like to buy 24-70 f2.0. I am more interested in 24-200 f2.8-4.5 or so. Now I have 24-105 f4 and a7r3 and am waiting a1ii or a7rvi or better.

distinguishing the maker by ethnicity doesn't seem to be helpful really, rather it should be by the manufacturers themselves since that's what matters most. You shouldn't lump them together because i'm sure Viltrox, Laowa, 7artisans, ttArtisans, Meike, Brightin Star would all be competing for market.

Hey Andrea, do you have any updates on the rumored Sony 24-70mm f/2.0 lens? Do you have any idea when it might be announced?

I'm not a customer for this lens unfortunately but I must say that I'm worried for IQ with this form factor. It looks like a smaller diameter which is very likely to worsen the cat's eye bokeh balls and swirly out of focus area. This is not the look I want for a portrait lens. I want buttery and smooth not busy and nervous. I'd much rather have a shorter/wider lens for this reason but also because I think longer/narrower is harder to pack (ie doesn't feel "compact" IMHO). We'll see once it's in testers hands.

It looks very similar in size to the Sony 50mm f1.4 GM. The picture shown would be pretty easy to fake starting with the 50mm f1.4 GM

the moment I bought a7 mk1 I dont want anything bigger, a7II is already too big not to mention IV, they should make a smaller ff, preferably classic as well

That's all well and good, but Sony should definitely take care of this firmware destruction of the A1, A7SIII and the FX3 first! A new lens is of no use if the mainboard is not compatible with the firmware or has even been damaged as a result. I'm talking about 2.02, 2.01 or 3.02 on the A7SIII...

That's a mistake, they are not the first... There are already autofocus lenses from Chinese manufacturers for E-mount for example Meike alreadyade multiple lenses for E mount with autofocus

It all depends on price and available lenses. With 40mp and higher fullframe has the same problems as 24p aps-c so the market is moving to lager formats than ff, introducing a real challenge in optic design. Let see what they cooked up.

Now it makes sense why Canon will not open their R mount to third party manufacturers. If you were Canon, would you want to lose money to a third-party Chinese company who's making lenses for your top cameras? I know I wouldn't. I applaud Canon for standing firm.

Well.. The 50 F1.4 GM is made in China for those who dontknow. It's pretty good lens. Most other GM are made in Thailand and only the 300/400/600 is made in Japan. Batis made in Japan too.

I would be in in a heart beat. Image a FX3 type cinema camera by DJI with a whole new type of easy menu system. I am a Sony user fro the last 10 years but would switch right away if they made something even close to something like an FX3 cinema camera. I sold my FX3 during the pandemic and have been getting by with an A7IV but tired of the over heating and been thinking about getting a new camera soon. I was holding out for a FX3II or something similar. So I can wit a couple of more months to see what the future holds. I think Most cameras are good enough these days but if someone made something new like you mentioned they could really scare all the mainstream companies that have not really changed in 20 years except for new sensors. Someone need to really make something innovating and 2025'sh

Nothing stops DJI from entering mainstream camera industry. And now that we can buy a single TX or RX of their new SDR transmission, I hope they could incorporate SDR transmission in the camera body. Will have the ability to control the camera using iPhone/iPad that’s connected to the SDR Receiver from a far distance.
