That's all well and good, but Sony should definitely take care of this firmware destruction of the A1, A7SIII and the FX3 first! A new lens is of no use if the mainboard is not compatible with the firmware or has even been damaged as a result. I'm talking about 2.02, 2.01 or 3.02 on the A7SIII...
I'm not a customer for this lens unfortunately but I must say that I'm worried for IQ with this form factor. It looks like a smaller diameter which is very likely to worsen the cat's eye bokeh balls and swirly out of focus area. This is not the look I want for a portrait lens. I want buttery and smooth not busy and nervous. I'd much rather have a shorter/wider lens for this reason but also because I think longer/narrower is harder to pack (ie doesn't feel "compact" IMHO). We'll see once it's in testers hands.
Would like to know the price, been waiting for this for some time but if it's too expensive I'll buy the Sigma version which is extremely sharp as well
@@duvalpenny100 and while saying this Sony has no chance to be decently priced, the Sigma is superior to the Sony mk1 lens and is only €1100, sometimes on sale for €900. It will be €900 for the Sigma or pay more so you can have more photos per second on A1-A9 cameras
@@jeroenvdw yeah I have the 1.8 right now and have been waiting for the specs and reviews on this lens to come out before I decide between the GMii and Sigma. I'm pretty sure I'll go with Sigma due to price and my use case is just travel/life. But this GMii might blow my socks off or something lol.
Sorry, but Sony is hosting the Kando event in Santa Barbara as we speak. Clearly, they don’t invite all the CZcams influencers if they only release one lens. There has to be MORE!!!
I am quietly hoping the filter size wll drop to 72mm to match the 50 1.2 GM, or better still 67mm to match the 35 1.4 GM and 50 1.4 GM. Somehow, I doubt the laws of physics will agree with my wishlist.
@@puyattravels5961 I figured the filter size would probably stay the same as the current GM model. At least it matches my 70-200, so it's not an orphan.

Probably at least 1000
@@deltaboy2011 Probably closer to $2,000 USD
@@duvalpenny100 yeah 2000 is more realistic, mk1 is €1550 now so I guess €2000 for mk2

It looks very similar in size to the Sony 50mm f1.4 GM. The picture shown would be pretty easy to fake starting with the 50mm f1.4 GM
Hmmmm smaller?
Looks bigger!
But why not a 1.2
…..
I think Sony fails to make it sharp, they're probably trying to make it for years now
Yeah this bums me out!!!
This is the lens I have been waiting!
Any news??? About lumix s1ii im eagerly awaited for that

@@andrea_pizzini So excited.!! cant wait :)
Looks like it’s made in Japan 👍.

New video review confirms it's lighter, slimmer, a bit taller and filter size is 77mm.
