    Wedding photographer here 🙋🏻‍♂️ I have the Tamron 35-150 and sometimes I have to switch to the 20-40 just to get a few mm more on the wider end just to get all people in the group shot. Also some more reach is always lovely. If it‘s similar size/weight I‘m all in!

    Tamron and Samyang already make 2-2.8/35-150 - both are on the heavier side, but work pretty fine and are optically good - 2.8/28-180, if optically good, would be replacement for both 28-75 and 70-180, so potential sale hit :)

    28-180 f2.8? I wonder the size and weight. If 70-200 f2.8 are already the size we familiar with… then 28-180 f2.8 can only be many times bigger and heavier. Unless tech has advance so much.

    As others have said the 35-150 exists and since it's even faster I would estimate that this lens is in practically the same housing at the 35-150 since it's slightly slower. It should be the same size roughly and weigh about the same. This could be a fantastic lens and is very realistic provided that the optical formula is done correctly. If it were comparable to the 35-150 but perhaps cost slightly less that would be incredible.

    Tamron 35-150mm f/2.0-f/2.8 has been the lens that live on Sony bodies 95% of the time with center sharpness equal to my 70-200mm f/2.8 GM II & 135mm f/1.8 GM. If they can build a f/2.0-f/2.8 lens at such range & sharpness it would not surprise me that they are able to build a constant f/2.8 at that range with VC. Would I be willing to give up the FF: f/2.0 35-49mm + APS-C: f/2.0 52.5-58.5mm with total FF+APS-C range of 35-58.5mm @ f/2.0 on a 50MP/21MP or 60MP/26MP sensor for VC...? I will really have to see the test results before making the final decision.
    I am more interested for them to build a 15-50mm f/1.4-f/2.0 lens to go with the 35-150mm f/2.0-f/2.8 lens at this point in time.

    • @AVerkhovsky
      @AVerkhovsky Před měsícem

      Using the APS-C crop mode for the range of 35-39mm on this lens for photo is not the best choice. You would end up with more light and more pixels if you zoom-in to the desired framing in FF mode instead. Cropping cuts the light just the same as increasing the F number. In APS-C mode the equivalent F number is 3 both in terms of DOF and in terms of light gathering, so it's darker than anywhere in the FF zoom range of this lens. Cropping in photo is only justified when you have already reached the longer end of the zoom, and even then I would say it's better to do it in post as it gives you more options. Video is another story, because 4K crop mode doesn't cost you resolution, and also on A1 if I am not mistaken 4K APS-C is oversampled vs 4K FF pixel-binned, so crop is potentially sharper. Hope you don't mind me saying so; since you mentioned that you use this lens a lot, I though it may be useful to point this out.

      @Jeo-What Před měsícem

      @@AVerkhovsky are you saying when I take a photos in FF at 35mm f/2.0 and crop it to 21MP on A1 the aperture and DOF would be different than when shooting in APS-C at 39mm f/2.0? Does that happens to your image?

    • @AVerkhovsky
      @AVerkhovsky Před měsícem

      @@Jeo-What No, cropping in post is the same as using APS-C mode in camera. What I am saying is that shooting in FF mode at 52.5mm gives you better image quality than shooting in APS-C mode at 35mm. That is despite the fact that your aperture at 52.5 mm would go up to 2.5 vs 2.0 at 35mm, and your ISO would need to go up too if you maintain the shutter speed. However, ISO would go up less than 1 stop, while there is approximately 1 stop difference in low light performance between APS-C and FF. E.g. ISO 1600 on APS-C looks the same as ISO 3200 on FF, so if you stay at FF and increase the ISO from 1600 to 2500, you still do better than going to crop mode. The DOF at 52.5 FF would also be shallower than at 35mm cropping to APS-C. Hope this helps.

    • @Jeo-What
      @Jeo-What Před měsícem

      @@AVerkhovsky Thank you for your reply. Taking a FF image at 50MP @ 50mm f/2 would produce a higher detail & clarity image than the APS-C image at 21MP at FF equivalent distance to the subject @ 50mm f/2.0 due to higher amount of pixels in the image. That been said, In-camera cropping APS-C mode is not the same as using a APS-C sensor camera that will effect the ISO or amount of light falling on the exact same FF size pixels since the pixels size has not changed and only less amount of pixels are active to capture the image.
      In the real world experience, The A1 does not increase the ISO, shutter speed or depth of field value when I activate the APS-C Crop mode at equivalent shooting distance; however, when the equivalent shooting distance of the subject is different ,regardless of FF or APS-C Crop Mode or using a APS-C sensor camera (with equivalent aperture) the DOF will also change.

It would be *huge* and extremely expensive, especially for a Tamron lens, which doesn't have the brand cachet of something like a Canon L or Sony G-Master to "justify" such a price (not saying Tamron doesn't make incredible lenses).
