If the water contains too many minerals, you may hear loud snapping or crackling noises and experience spurts of hot water from the nozzle. To prevent oversteaming, consider reducing the amount of salt added to your water or mixing in distilled water. The power lights will remain on and illuminated, but the humidifier will not be running.
