AH Trains
Registrace 30. 03. 2019
This channel is all about trains. There are at least two videos a month that I post. One of them is the BNSF Wayzata Sub the other is the CP Paynesville Subdivision. Those are the two that I currently live close to. I often upload those videos on the last day of the month. Videos range from 3-10 minutes I try to change the angles during the video instead of recording the entire train. Always open to new ideas feel free to comment.
CP 2816 Up the River Sub| 7/1/2024
CP 2816 brings the return trip of the final spike tour back home to Canada after making the trip to Mexico City. With lots of delays on the Marquette Sub the 2816 didn’t hit the River Sub until sunsets and would be a night run to Red Wing. It’s pretty rare to see steam at night so I made the most of it and cut the chase at Red Wing. This would be my last chase of the 2816, some great memories were made with the many days spent to see it.

Amtrak’s Borealis| June 2024
zhlédnutí 119Před 9 hodinami
June 2024 marks the second month of revenue service for Amtrak’s Borealis, the train that runs from St Paul to Chicago. In this video we document the train along the Minnesota part of the route. Three different dash 8s have been showing up on this train lately, Amtrak only has 20 of these so it’s real treat to catch one leading.
Empty Coal Train Chase| 6/11/2024
zhlédnutí 150Před 21 dnem
In this video we cap off my Northwoods trip with a train chase on my way home. This takes a little bit of luck as the Hinckley Sub doesn’t see that much traffic but I lucked out an empty coal train needed to head south out of Superior, WI. We start off the video in the rain at Boylston, the very beginning of the Hinckley Sub and work our way down south. Eventually the sun came out at Brook Park...
Grand Rapids Turn Chase| 6/10/2024
zhlédnutí 274Před 21 dnem
A summer trip up to the Northwoods was in the books for me. I always try to make sure I get at least one weekday in the trip so I can attempt the Grand Rapids Turn, known for having SD40-2s for power. This time I chased quite far than I previously have done, being west of Cloquet for the first since February. The train was running a little late on this day so I cut the chase at Brookston but st...
Railfanning Along the NSM| June 2024
zhlédnutí 76Před měsícem
6 months later I pay another visit to the NSM. I got to the Kane Lake Road crossing at McNair around 11:15 and waited for headlights to hopefully show up down the track. 20 minutes went by a headlight was displayed, but unfortunately it was just light power. Fortunately 20 minutes later a westbound empty went by with two ACes, this was the moment I was waiting for, and this would end up being t...
Amtrak’s New Borealis Train 1333 & 1340| May 2024
zhlédnutí 428Před měsícem
A new Amtrak train has finally debuted. This is the Borealis that runs from Saint Paul to Chicago and vice versa. The Empire Builder does run this route but this added train will give more passenger device options and more daylight options with the westbound Empire Builder typically arriving in Saint Paul at night. Also seen on this trail is the new phase 7 paint scheme that’s showing up on the...

The spring move of equipment heads for Osceola after waiting out at St Paul all winter. We see 400 lead the train this time we hear it with a prime 990 horn, that sounds fantastic.
UP 2213 on the MIR Job
zhlédnutí 240Před měsícem
This local often sees SD40Ns for power and occasional GPs but seeing an SD62E, is something out of the norm for the MIR Job. This local runs on Tuesday and Thursdays, the 2213 stayed for about 3 months(January/March) and has since gone elsewhere as I upload this video. Here we see it on a couple day making it’s eastbound run back to Minneapolis when the locomotive was facing the right way.
EMDs on H-WLMNTWs| April 2024
zhlédnutí 376Před 2 měsíci
In this video we get to see eastbounds on the Wayzata Sub featuring pure EMDs, something that is getting increasingly hard to find in 2024. Willmar was fortunate enough to put these EMDs on WLMNTWs and half of them ran in daylight. I was even lucky enough to see both 1940 and 1687 leading, still holding their green paint for now. Enjoy!
CP 2816 Chase Across Eastern MN and Western WI| 5/5/2024
zhlédnutí 941Před 2 měsíci
This would by my final day seeing the 2816 go eastbound on its Final Spike Tour. We start off in Saint Paul Park on the BNSF mainline in nice morning light before transitioning down to the CPKC River Sub for a few runbys. We even get to hear the 2816’s 6 Chime whistle that they lightly use. We end the video with 2 runbys on the CPKC Tomah Sub at West Salem and Oakdale. This was a very fun 3 day...

Day two of my experience seeing CP 2816. After staying at hotel in Glenwood overnight, we got up early knowing the train would have an early morning departure. We first seeing the 2816 rounding a curve just east of Sedan making good time. We then leap frog the train 30 miles to Eden Valley at the old wooden bridge as the rain ensued, a nice amount of steam plume was featured on this runby. Next...

CPKC wanted to celebrate their one year anniversary in a very special way. Running their steam engine 2816 from Calagry, AB to Mexico City. This is the first time in 17 years since 2816 has been in the states, making it a very special treat to see this pulling the train. We start off west of Balfour, ND with the Connia Slough in the background, then catch it last time on the Portal Sub in Anamo...
Railfanning Along BNSF’s Lakes Sub| March 2024
zhlédnutí 289Před 2 měsíci
Back in March I took a couple trips to the Lakes Sub mainly to catch the 1833 and 1943 hauling the Grand Rapids Turn but there were a couple of other trains to see prior to waiting on the GRT such as tactomientrain and we even get to see a super coal train in the beginning of the video. Enjoy!
RS3L! BNSF 7717 Leads H-SUPNTW Down the Hinckley Sub| 4/22/2024
zhlédnutí 404Před 2 měsíci
BNSF 7717 spent quite sometime up north pulling taconite trains but today it was chosen leader on the H-SUPNTW with 138 cars for Northtown yard in Minneapolis, MN. We are the chase at a curve in Sandstone going slow likely due to the wind while crossing the Kettle River. Next we see it cruise through Hinckley blowing its lovely RS3L through the four grade crossings and then make it to Brook Par...

Good stuff!!
Awesome RS3L
Magnificent brother another jewel trapped in video greetings
Awesome chase . Aren’t coals pretty rare on the hinckley ?
Yep, Brainerd Sub is the more preferred route.
@@ahtrains ah yes the nerd sub . Wish that connected to the lakes more west there would be double the traffic 😂
Sweet chase! Those are some pretty nice spots to see rapids at!
I hope we meet in person soon. Ill be in Wayzata area and cp.line too
Hi. Do you have plans to film trains in Wayzata in june? Ill be at the hotel landing in Wayzata that day for 5 days
Great catches and awesome video
Great catches and video of this BNSF rescuing this AMTRAK LONG DISTANCE train
Thank You for sharing this!
I will be In the Wayzata Bay area from June 10t to June 14th. Do you have time to show me around the Wayzata and Paynesville Subs this summer? Im staying at the Hotel landing off of lake street
No
fantastic train
Steam power
STELLAR vid , Great locations and NO pacing shots that ruin things for other chasers , BRAVO , well done !!

Awesome videos! I hope to see her in Manitoba this summer! I wonder what the schedule is for the Empress?
Especially like the overhead shot at about 6:45. Also I don't see any signs of passengers aboard the train. I'd sure love to ride it!
When it left Calgary there was the hydrogen unit in front of the FP9s
Seen her in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. I shot a liitle video of her crossing the Swift Current creek on the trestle, this is on the CPR mainline.
Excellent video!
How did you get ahead to catch it so often? I see me pulling up in my blue pickup at 5:15. Chased it from Valley City to Enderlin. Great video.
I really expected to catch it only 4 times from Minot to Glenwood, thinking they would be flying down the main. They were only doing about 40 most of the way. I was in no desire to break as many road laws as some others were doing during the chase. I’m sure you noticed doing your chase. The road layout and railine don’t parallel the tracks so going from Valley city to Enderlin is an unfortunate section.
@@ahtrains Yep, I just followed a few other vehicles that left from VC down 94 and turned off in their direction and there we where at the Fingal crossing.
Very nice video and chase!
I want to see some speed
Nah, this trains speed is good enough. Remember, this is a nearly century-old locomotive, and running it as if it were fresh off the factory will bring unnecessary wear and tear on components - and there's not enough spare parts to go around.
And that misfit diesel
Wonder if the Royal Hudson by itself could pull the 17 cars.
Glad they removed those awful ditch lights
the whistle sounds so unnatural that i thought it was a recording being played by all the crossings
That's what a real steam whistle sounds like. Having grown up in Calgary, I have heard it several times on the steam train that operates at Heritage Park. It only sounds unnatural if you're used to the air horns that they use on diesel units.
@@bartwentink2189 i know what a real one sounds like. its just the fact that theyre using a push button to operate it like a diesel horn rather than the way a steam whistle is traditionally operated that makes it sound so unnatural. I'm use to hearing a little slide into the notes that the whistle plays because of pulling the whstle cord.
@@VirgotheDrusky 2816 has two whitsles, the original is a 6 chime located in front of the cab and pull operated but is too quiet to pass regulations for use in most provinces of canada and some states in the usa. so they use a newer but still quite old button operated steam whistle that is 2x as loud as the older one for basic rail use. There are vids on youtube where you can hear the 6 chime blasting as it passes by and it is majestic.
It’s always had that whistle. It’s real. I think it’s cool.
She’s beautiful. Thank you for the gift of seeing her in action. Ottawa Canada.
Thats the same train Ironman3406 posted a few days ago..very beautiful indeed!! Thanks for another shot at this wonderful sight👍🏻🍻
Nice.
Sweet catches and chase of the Empress. Classic #2816
I'll be seeing her in Missouri in 2 weeks. I really hope I'll be able to gets shots as great as yours! Thank you for sharing!
Going to meet her in Shreveport. She will come through Houston, where I live, but she can't stop here because she'll be on UP tracks, and UP isn't really celebrating the CPKC merger... LOL
Excellent shot. Like😁
Nice catch and chase!
Una joya de video✌🏼✅1️⃣🫡
WB train through Darwin with FXE ACe trailing
Some nice catches! Where was that mega coal headed? Did it run on the lakes?
Superior. Came off the Brainerd Sub.
@@ahtrains oh cool Glad I didn’t miss that!
BNSF 7717 needs two fixes. 1. Change it’s paint scheme from H2 to H3. And 2. Have it’s RS3L horn replaced with a K5HL.
Nah. Just fix the fouled RS3L and keep the H2 paint
@@treasurevalleytrackside9527 Over my dead body. True BNSF GEVOs wear H3 paint and a K5HL horn.
@@zacharycalgher3978 that is literally 95 percent of nearly 3000 of BNSF's GEVOS. Let the 5 percent stand out

Nice to see that unit finally off of Taconite service 😂
it’s on Csx rn 😂
@@Wesley45454 dang it sure went far !
What days and times does the TCW run? Thanks.
Saint Paul turn is the easiest one to catch. Be somewhere around Minneapolis or St Paul it’s typically eastbound at 0900 and westbound around 1400-1600. If you want to see the Glencoe turn. Best bet is sit at Hopkins at around 1700-1800 and wait for them to get the crew and then chase until sunset. 30mph track. Runs everyday except holidays and Sundays for the most part
Thanks
@@ahtrainsHow far can you usually chase the Glencoe turn before it’s too dark?
@@Highclearmedia I’ve been lucky to get them at Plato at sunset but that takes a lot of luck because they do stop and work at Bongards and sometimes Chaska
Would it kill them to use her original whistle as the main whistle for once?!
