RS3L! BNSF 7717 Leads H-SUPNTW Down the Hinckley Sub| 4/22/2024

BNSF 7717 spent quite sometime up north pulling taconite trains but today it was chosen leader on the H-SUPNTW with 138 cars for Northtown yard in Minneapolis, MN. We are the chase at a curve in Sandstone going slow likely due to the wind while crossing the Kettle River. Next we see it cruise through Hinckley blowing its lovely RS3L through the four grade crossings and then make it to Brook Park for another runby. Fortunately this view at Brook Park was obstructed by train cars in the siding which has been a problem for over a year until recently. 7717 slowed its roll at Grasston as MCBIT was on the way to meet SUPNTW. UP 5360 barreled through Braham with 127 car for Itasca, WI. We’ll then resume the 7717 chase at Grasston as they approach the siding and then back up to track speed at Grandy. We’ll end the chase near the Bethel depot as the 7717 makes its final stretch to Northtown. Getting hear an RS3L out on the main is getting few and far and this happens to be the only BNSF GEVO to be equipped with one.

BNSF 7717 needs two fixes. 1. Change it’s paint scheme from H2 to H3. And 2. Have it’s RS3L horn replaced with a K5HL.
