    I'm voice coaching for the actors in the dramatic society that I 'm a member of. This video will be of enormous benefit to my efforts. I am aiming for accuracy and consistency. The accent is a part of the setting because when the audience hears everybody speaking the Cockney accent, they are immediately transported to London. I am confident that they can do it. This is a start.amd will make a valuable contribution.

    I'll tell you why you Brits are impossible to understand: because you speak too fast, using interjections, shortening already short words, inserting slang everywhere and saying it all as if you were chewing a hot boiled potato at the same time. 😄 A story from my old English teacher: she was once in England and received a compliment from a gentleman: - It's been a long time since I've heard such beautiful, pure English! Where are you from? The answer was: - I'm from Moscow. 😂

    American here. Wardrobe and closet are two different things here. A closet is a room built into a wall with an exterior door for storage. A wardrobe is a piece of furniture placed in a room for storage.

    • @RobBCactive
      @RobBCactive Před 20 hodinami

      I've heard "walk in wardrobe" probably because WC (water closet) has made closet unpopular. Hearing closet sounds archaic to me, something I've read in classic novels.

    • @ultraredd
      @ultraredd Před 19 hodinami

      @@RobBCactive Are you Canadian per chance? I ask because of your use of the term WC which we don't really use in the US. We do say walk in closet if it's a larger room. It could also be a regional difference. This is the beauty of language. So many ways to describe something.

    • @RobBCactive
      @RobBCactive Před 19 hodinami

      @@ultraredd no , and no in the USA the euphemisms have moved on from original euphemisms, I find restrooms funny. WC is widely used in Europe, not just in English.

    • @RobBCactive
      @RobBCactive Před 18 hodinami

      @@ultraredd well I didn't expect to think about the usage of closet, so thanks too. The design of houses changed, what do you call fitted wardrobes that run along a wall of a bedroom? They're not self standing but may use a recessed area created by a corner entrance into another room.

    Hallo from Germany🙋🏻‍♀️We also have a lot of accents in the German. I love accents it’s always interesting to hear it and it makes a language kind of lively, sometimes rather funny too, at least f e the Saxon accent in German. You mentioned the Irish influence in Scouse and the Singsang in the accent Scouse, this reminds me of an Irisch actor, Jamie Dornan, because he has a slightly Singsang and a lift up at the end of his sentences too. Thank you for the interesting insight into the different accents. I appreciate it very much.

    In "feel like" it's probable that the "like" influenced her to pronounce "feel" more with a dark L than with a liquid W.

    That /x/ sound is pretty common in the Irish language, so we're all nodding here. One of those sounds we all get to learn at school, if our own regional English accent has lost it. Found in words like, for example, president: uachtarán.
