As an American, I often resort to slowing down British youtubers, so I concur.

It sounded like Ed said "Do you get lead (rhyming with red)?" because in normal, polite conversation, asking if someone gets laid seems out of nowhere. It's a peculiar question to ask after saying you're mistaken for Ed Sheeran. So, the accent makes it sound like he was using some British-specific slang (which it isn't as it's used in American slang too). If he spoke in an American accent, that confusion (to an American) with accents would not be as confusing.

Loved this❤ great comedic timing on behalf of Ed Sheeren but actually he asked "DID u get laid" meaning did he get laid in Korea when he was mistaken for him

Excellent video. Though I'm a native British English speaker, I can use the tips with other languages!

I loved the vocabulary technique. As an EFL Teacher sometimes I get lost in my student's learning process and forget mine😅. Thank you for this ❤

For Japanese, I find that learning basic grammar helps me identify where one word ends and another begins. I’m still pretty rubbish with it and often play videos on CZcams at reduced speed as well.

I reckon this Bite-Sized technique of analysing natural conversations of fast English is so effective. It really boosts your understanding when you face real life situations rather than academic environment. Cheers Tom!

Thank you, Tom, for your increadibly hellpful video and your tips! Understanding real speech with blended sounds is really a challenge! I think we (non-native speakers) have to put up with the fact that it's impossible to get every single word though it's quite annoying for me :) Thanks again!

I was surprised. The only thing, why I didn't understand, what they where saying because I didn't know what "get laid" meant. I understood "get late" , and was searching for the meaning, for what he wanted to say with it. 😅
