  • In this video, I'm joined by @billy_on_aire and @papateachme to discuss English language trends we see on social media in 2023. We talk about phrases like 'I was today years old...', 'fur baby' and 'platty jubes' and many others.

Billy: "Nothing goes on in November"
Me: "HOW DARE YOU SKIP MY FAVORITE HOLI--oh wait, y'all British, carry on!" 😂
Also, @papateachme is my spirit animal. He said almost word-for-word what I was thinking about all of them.

At work if they do not know the English word right away they say “thingy”. It annoys me no end. “So, we might have this drink “thingy” later this week”. Or “it is a report thingy”. Everyone uses it. English is not our first language but still, overused and so irritating after a while.

Ha! That's what my 4-year-old does when she can't remember what something is called. I feel your pain!

This one is at the same time like a motto and an overused students' phrase😅

The drinkpoo thing strikes me as uniquely British. Not sure I've ever seen that unironically used

Hello I have a question… what if some tell me “Looking gory to meting you” is that something “normal” because it sounds a little scary!!

We would like to ask you if you can make a video about the confusion of " what means when you say - next / this Friday! For example" Because it's not an object like - take the next bus , or get in the next queue right?
We have been checking through the Oxford English even says " next Friday means might be the week you're in or the following?!
    Thanks for your time!
    Have a lovely Friday!
( Which Friday, all Fridays of your life ☺️ )

I don't think there IS a definitive answer, I think it can be somewhat regional/colloquial. When my wife and I were first dating we got things confused all the time because she and I would interpret "next Friday" differently.
