Just wow! You made my afternoon! I am passionate lover of all British accents, especially the ones from Yorkshire and Durham...
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it mate : )
Fun fact: ""legends are watching this lying on the bed""❣️❣️🥳❣️❣️
Hehe nice!
What an exceptional video,Tom! This is the most comprehensive set of British English accents ever. Love the translation of Glaswegian into English 😂
Hehe yeah that was a great line! That's Kevin Bridges the Glaswegian comedian who I think is pretty funny.
@@EatSleepDreamEnglish Another famous comedian with a strong and characteristic Glaswegian accent is Billy Connolly.
OMG I instantly recognized Jack O’Connell in the derby accent, luv it
My favorite Welsh accent is Elis James'. It rolls so beautifully off the tongue.
It's fantastic, isn't it?
What an exceptionally unparalleled video this is! Please Tom don't stop just here and go for the series. Eagerly waiting for the next parts.
Thanks very much, yes more to come : )
My natural speaking voice is a mix of Modern Received Pronunciation and Multicultural London English. I get told all the time i sound so well spoken yet rough at the same time, that’s what happens when a kid from a council estate in South London goes to a private school 😂
I love this video. Thanks!
Thanks for the short with a link to this video. Thank you!
I immediately recognized Jack’s voice. That was my first introduction to the Derby accent ❤❤
Thanks Tom for the amazing accent overview 😃
Other than RP accents (Modern and Conservative), the ones that sounded "friendliest" to my unskilled ears were North and South Wales (both) and Black Country accents. Cheers!
Interesting! Thanks for sharing Alice. Yeah, I really like the Welsh accent too. It's soft and musical to my ears.
Scouce accent is the best for me😊
The east Northern Ireland accent sounded like Jamie Dornan.
It was! Well done for getting it : )
Thank you so much for this video. It was a great test and I think I passed it well! Some of these accents looks more difficult and another are easier to understand but it's ok.
I have also a protip and dream at the same time for you. This video is without moving pictures and it would be cool if next to the name of the accent would be showed the map with places where it is frequently uses (I don't know many English cities so it could help with deep learning).
Have a good weekend! :D
Excellent idea Ella! I will certainly add it next time : )
Scouse the most beautiful. I love listen to Gerrard and Carragher
Oh really? Yeah, I have a soft spot for the way they speak. It's very unique and has a lot of character to it.
6 out of 8 have been recognized correctly. Had troubles with understanding Geordie and some Irish accents. That part was probably the most challenging. Thank you for the extended version. I keep the previous part in my playlist. Gonna add this one too.
P.S. Next time try to use different samples for the quiz. It's not a problem to remember them
The modern received pronuncuation is the easiest one to.undrrstand and the one I like most.
OK, is that because it's the one you've learned?
@@EatSleepDreamEnglish not necessary do. Simply it sounds better, clearer and easier to me.
I really liked northern Welsh and it sounds like American
There is also something very soothing about the way he speaks. I love the lilting nature of his intonation : )
@@EatSleepDreamEnglish ♥️yes♥️
Interesting... As a Californian, I find the Belfast accent the easiest to understand and replicate.
Quiz: all correct. Fave ones: Yorkshire, Edinburgh, Scouse, Geordie... I wish I had an IG live (or a video collab) with You once about accents from a non-native teacher's, who used to live in Yorkshire, perspective. I hope You'll respond back and reach out. Or maybe a zoom (skype, teams) convo about the topic (just as You did it with Korean Billy)?
Hello, Tom :) Wow! Most of them are really tough to understand. To understand these accents, One needs to spend many times with those natives. My favorite one is MRP. I also found Mackem, Leeds, Donchester, Cumbrian, Edinburg, and Belfast easier to understand than the others. Nice Job 👌Greetings from Türkiye👋 Çağlar.
I'm American, and I agree with you on the "easier to understand" list.
To me, the Smoggie and Geordie sound a lot like New Zealander.
A large percentage of the accents strike me as "British non-Cockney" but I cannot otherwise differentiate them. A large percentage of them pronounce "t" as a glottal stop, which I find annoying.
That's interesting to hear Çağlar. I think perhaps the accents you've picked out have slightly softer accents than others. For example the Derry and Brummie examples are quite strong (thick) and therefore a little harder to understand.
I love the Donny one because of Louis Tomlinson, but o especially love cockney
What about your own accent, Tom? What is it? I'm curious, 'cause you sound a lot like another Tom that I know of. 😆 Tom Fletcher of McFly, to be exact.. And I really love the way you guys talk!
Could you please tell me few CZcamsr with modern received Pronouncistion
Sure, Anna from English Like A Native, Lucy from English with Lucy, Aly from Papa Teach Me are some examples
I think the Conservative RP speaker is very likely to be Jacob Rees-Mogg, but I'm not 100% sure.
The Hull accent sounded like Jenny and Lee from Goggle box.
That's because they're from Hull
It was Jenny and Lee! Well done for getting it : )
❤❤❤❤❤❤All thanks some trying so hard to understand ❤❤❤❤
When i saw "Doncaster" on the time stamps, it must be Louis Tomlinson and it is 😂😂😂
Hehe it had to be!
the whole time i was trying to guess who was talking haha i'm wondering if i got them right, nice vid
Hmmm I'm curious to know who you got?
🥰 wow they are very beautiful and elegant accents many of them sound like they are very wealthy haha 😂 from the high class haha 😂
I can understand, distinguish and hear brummie accent, multicultural London English only.
Nottingham was difficult
Hull used a lot of slang
Essex is the same accent Adele has
Louis ❤
Hehehe you spotted him!
@@EatSleepDreamEnglish I love him 😆
I got six of them
Good job!
❤❤❤
❤❤❤💕
OMG where is Yorkshire?
Hull, Doncaster and Leeds are all Yorkshire accents… but all of them sound a bit different!
My level is intermediate, and I need a partner every day do practice in speaking
I speak English with a very posh accent
😮😮😮
Teachers should be teaching a standard form of English, how can we be a successful country with everyone talking so differently
