Hi friends, This is Anuja and welcome to my venture 'Out of the Shruti Box'.
This channel focuses on music and all things related to it. Due to my specialization being in Hindustani Music, a lot of videos focus on the aspect of Hindustani Music. However, I am also keen in exploring and sharing my views on various other genres and topics related to music!
Please note: I do not post videos on a regular basis. This makes the channel archival in nature.
Warm wishes!

This was fantastic, Anuja! I feel that you ought to explain jaati also. Otherwise some people who are familiar only with the western rhythm concepts will interpret the higher-matra thekas as 4x4 cycles because most of music really is in chatushrya jaati. I look forward to that episode.
Fantastic, Well explained and Keeep it up !.... This is my favourite time signature, but never knew it had so many flavours.... I was expecting you will also sing "Ae Dile Naadan" , but i can understand that its a long list and not every song can be included here....
Wow such an amazing and important thing you explain without giving any stress of deep theory of music and you expressions also reduce the efforts of understanding ❤️ thank you so much for this.
धन्यवाद और भी एपिसोड बनाइए ताल के ऊपर गानों को ताल में कैसे बिठाया जाता है इसपर
Just amazing 👌👌
You should upload atleast a video per week. Bcz I find indian classical interesting only with you. Other than you feels don't understandable to me.
So happy to see you uploading kind of regularly. Thank you for inspiring many to continue their classical music journey, didi. 🙏
Superb Anuja .. can’t wait for your next posting… our Blessings 😊
Modern scientific samjhane ka tarika aapke alawa kisi auron mein nahin thank
Thank you anuja, this was really beautifully explained ❤
Khupach masta Anuja Tai. I will also try playing some bandish in Rupak taal this weekend on the flute
Hi Anuja ji. If you take any online batch of Indian classical music, kindly share the details. I just fell in love with your knowledge, voice and the way of explanation by just watching your first video itself.
Lovely episode.. love your voice... 😊
Very good..आप बहोत अच्छे टीचर ho...आप ये kounsa App use करते हो ? Pl.बता sakate हो ??
Superb. Thank you❤❤❤
Brilliantly compiled and so meticulously explained
I wish Anuja ji had million of views. The way she explains music is just so remarkable that even a musically challenged person like me can understand it. She is such a great teacher that when she had just introduced Deepchand Taal, believe me the first song that popped in my head was "Piya tose naina lage re" (from Guide) . I had a perfect Deja Vu moment thinking I would get goosebumps if "Piya tose naina lage re" was based on Deepchand taal and a minute later I just heard her sing. It's like Anuja ji can raise my consciousness with her style of teaching. 🙏🙏🙏
One criticism, and I'm sorry if it might sound pedantic, but Baghdad and Afghanistan aren't in the same geograohical location. Baghdad, which is the capital of Iraq, lies in Mesopotamia, that is, in the basin of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. On the other hand, Afghanistan is technically a part of Central Asia, which is just south of places like Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. And because the geographical locations of these two places are different, their music would also be very different. The Pashto rhythm can't be used to adequately represent Iraqi music, because Arabic music has a different way of expressing rhythm from Afghan follk music.
Knowledge either makes you a critic or silent
💐💐💐Pranam💐💐💐
Anuja...dude....you need to increase the frequency of your videos. Seriously. They are too good but their wait is too long.
Thank you so much ma'am for explanation.Seeing and learning from you after long time . Go on.
अप्रतिम सादरीकरण. असं नीट समजल्यावर आम्हाला बिट्स वर गाणे कळू लागत आहे व आनंद द्विगुणित होत आहे. अजून असेच पार्ट आवडतील. 👌👏🌹🙏
Which app you suggest ?
Need similar info on , Dadra, Karba, Ektal, Jhaptal etc. please. You are doing something out of the box, and that is making a big difference. Thanks.
Please keep uploading more such videos

If kindness isn’t shown in the end, to family and other souls in pain; to neighbour, teacher, and friend, of what use is this life, what gain?
Good evening. First of all, I admire your work very much and love the concept of raag. I'm a Brazilian music student close to graduation in music. I play flute, recorder and piano. Well, to begin to explain the concept of raag to Western musicians, is it possible to say that if any given part of a melody became "fossilized", something that is either a motif neither a song but something in-between, becoming a frame for improvisation/composition, like the concept of cantus firmus in gregorian chant tradition, that could be a start to understand raag? For example, if the first phrase of Tico-tico no fubá (a very famous choro song of Brazil) became so important to the culture that musicians started to view iit as a frame for composition, that could be something similar to a raag? Thank you for your wonderful work!
Very helpful ma'am
Excellent explanation. Even a person like me who doesn't know even the basics of music can understand.😊
❤❤❤❤wah
❤
What the hell
Had there been a little singing by you in the video... It would have made the video more enjoyable
Your teaching style is the best
0. Each day I'll do a golden deed, by helping those who are in need. My life on earth is but a span, and so I will do the best I can. 1.(Ref) Life's evening sun is sinking low, a few more days & then I'll go. To pay for deeds that I have done, where there will be no setting sun. 2. To be a child of God each day, my light must shine along the way. I'll sing His praise while ages roll, & strive to help some troubled soul.(Ref) 3. The only life that will endure, is one that's kind and good and pure. And so for God I'll take my stand, each day I'll lend a helping hand. (Ref) 4. I'll help someone in time of need, and journey on with rapid speed. I'll help the sick, the poor & weak, & words of kindness to them speak. (Ref) 5. While going down life's weary road, I'll try to ease some traveller's load. I'll try to turn the night to day, and make flowers bloom along the way. (Ref) I'll do all these things just because, our dear Devi-ji Anuja Kamat does. .
Mashallah❤
Apparently, jho bhi mein from Rockstar is based on Raag Bhimpalas. czcams.com/video/rpH7ObrOUwc/video.html
